    Doing well….your last video helped me….primarily I have stayed on my diabetes food plan by simply not bringing temptations into my home. The other day I was offered four giant peanut butter cookies…without thinking I took them…then I remembered something you said about impulsively and the brain…and after a few minutes I walked out and returned the cookies. Small Victory but major learning tool. ❤️♥️

    Thank you for sharing. I’ve never had BED but I’ve always used food as a comfort. It started when I was 5 and was sexually assaulted by a 16 yr old neighbor. I had gotten away and ran home and my family was waiting at the dinner table for me. I didn’t want to tell my parents bc weirdly enough I felt ashamed. I held the tears in. I remember we were eating tacos and as I ate I felt this sense of comfort. Food has been my comfort ever since and from that time on I gained weight. I got to my highest weight 11 years ago at 371 pounds (5’9”) and now at 215. I’ve worked hard at losing weight but don’t know that I’ve truly healed that childhood trauma. I find it very easy to stay in a calorie deficit but when I go off track I find it very hard to maintain my weight.

    I'm so sorry to hear about your experience. As I'm reading more about food addiction trauma and sexual assault victims are significantly more likely to have some sort of addiction or eating disorder. The shame and internalized guilt felt by so many who are assaulted is often transferred to substances or food. I hope you have found a way to heal through the hurts of your past and found freedom from them. ❤💙💜

    I’m 60 Yo and always knew I was addicted to food. Tried a lot of Extreme programs too many to list. One did work I went from 402-168!!! But don’t worry I gained it all back. Fast forward I started Wegovy ( once they had it in stock) February 1st. As of today I’m down 27 lbs. I count my food in a Cronometer since I don’t eat meat to be sure I’m getting enough protein. Your channel has been so informative for me on the journey Mostly because you’re honest about it. You have given me so many tips and important pointers that have been so helpful. All the while I’m knowing that food addiction is a battle and doesn’t just disappear. I downloaded all the podcasts and am about to purchase that workbook.. thank you Mindy!❤❤❤❤

    Mindy, this is such a great video. Hi, my name is Amy and I am a food addict..specifically addicted to sugar and binge eating. I’ve tried Overeaters Anonymous and I love the plan, but like you said as soon as they said I needed to abstain from sugar/flour, I immediately started to obsess about not being able to have that. I hate this addiction, I hate that food has this hold over me. I come from a divorced family, my biological father left when I was 3 and I never saw him again. My mom (who has told me on several occasions she didn’t want children), remarried and my stepfather was abusive physically, mentally and sexually. I have never felt worthy enough to take care of me. I am leaning very heavily on my walk/relationship with Jesus, trying to relearn how to be and feel loved. That I am loved by Him. Anyway, I have probably said too much..but thank you for opening up. We need more programs, more support for our addiction. Have a beautiful, blessed day!!!

    Hey Amy, Faith is a huge piece of the puzzle. Learning that I have a Father who loves me and accepts me early was probably the only reason I don't also have a drug and alcohol addiction along with my food addiction. It is so unbelievably difficult to fight an addiction that you can't just stay away from. I pray that you are able to find the tools that work for you to fight the enemy and the hold he has. You are loved, my friend. ❤️❤️

    i have been missing some of your video videos, and when i saw you tonight on my big screen you look wonderful. Even though we have never met i feel of you as my friend. i want to thank you for showing me you can still loose weight and eat. when my dr was rushing me through my MJ i lost weight because i was in bed a great deal of the time i ate nothing which is not healthy. Now i just told my doc I wasn’t going to live like that my daughter said mom that’s no life they were both worried. i also thank my kidney specialist for listening to me he said i was doing the right thing. so i’m on 7.5 when i think 5 would do. how many people do you know over 70 that is on this? i think that has a lot to do with the way i feel also. i went thru the darkness and i honestly thought i was gona die at times. but im finally almost back to my old self mind wise Im not a giver upper and I honestly think these meds are wonderful only us people that have been there understand. Honestly I adore you the things you have been through. Never Give Up!! your beautiful inside and out. all my support goes out to you. may god bless you. ♥️🙏

    Ive lost weight 3 times in the past, then something stressful comes and i gain again. Started the WL injection Tuesday and all my life ive been battling this demon in my head that copes with food for comfort during emotional times, i have BED. I hope i can lose the last 26kg. Ive lost 31kg already with diet, exercise and intermittent fasting. Im thinking once i get that 26kg off then ill get skin removal surgery and start loving myself. I feel like a monster at 74kg and that i can never get to my target weight and give up.

    Wonderful video Mindy, started on the CBT podcast. I think it sounds like it could really help me too. I'm sorry for the long post, your video just really inspired me. I struggled with undiagnosed ADHD and BPD until the past 3 years, aswell as depression and anxiety, so I've been mentally struggling my whole life. Binge eating disorder manifested as an addictive coping strategy an early age, and I've been suffering with it ever since. Since starting on Mounjaro, I've had satiety and a quiet, 'no food noise' head for the first time in my entire life. It's been a game changer. BUT, I'm very aware that (especially here in the UK), I might only get 2 years' worth of medicine before they stop prescribing it, due to the initial studies for safety only running for 2 years (hopefully this will change over time tough); and, as many doctors have theorised, there may come a day that even the highest dose simply stops working due to your body becoming tolerant. So from the start, since the day I got the positive effects of Mounjaro, I've been focusing on the way I've always wanted to eat (within the slightly restrictive boundaries of my ADHD) , that is moderately healthy and sustainable long term for me, and I've been trying to use the power of Mounjaro to slowly phase out the foods that trigger my addictive responses. There are *plenty* of tasty, awesome foods out there that don't make me want to binge eat them, and I'm hoping that if Mounjaro can do the heavy lifting of helping me get through the bodily and mental withdrawals of the high sugar, high fat, highly palatable junk that I have no self control over, then I might be able to get it out of my system for a long enough time that I can be 'clean/sober' for lack of a better term. My brain might learn to rewire itself over time and degrade those pathways that are in constant need of stimulation If the Mounjaro is taken away from me or stops working eventually, I want to know that I've really done my absolute best to set myself up for long term success at keeping the weight off. People do overcome their addictions all the time, and it's HARD and it's a white-knuckle process, and they'll forever remain an addict because they know that even one taste or experience with the 'thing' will trigger them all over again. I'm happy to remain a clean addict from junk food and have a freedom from food that I've always wanted and never had, and if Mounjaro can give me the strength to do the initial, most difficult steps while I'm trying to down-regulate my brain, then I'm damn well going to try my hardest! Thankyou for such an amazing, inspirational video!

    Hey Giften, Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts. I'm hopeful that you will experience the freedom that you are seeking so earnestly. I can tell you from firsthand experience that those positive side effects do go away with adaptation (much sooner than 2 years for me). I'm glad you are doing the work to arm yourself with positive coping mechanisms now while you still have those benefits. ❤️

    Hi lovely one (inside and out) - You are clearly a very strong person. It's good to see you taking care of your emotional needs - that will make you stronger. Dieting can be so grueling for body, mind and spirit. You've been a trooper, but you deserve the TLC. I've been around a great many food/eating/addiction bends in my personal journeys, and it all helped. I'm excited for you to embark on this quest of self-discovery.

    Subscribed! I’m starting my journey again and I just got prescribed mounjaro 😊 I’m very happy to have found your channel because what you’re talking about is exactly what I’ve gone through with the food addiction and emotional eating 🍽️ I’m actually almost 3 years out from a gastric sleeve and I’ve gained almost 40 lbs back of the 95 I lost. I’ve had a really difficult last year and I went back to all the things that made me gain weight and lose hope in the first place. What would you say is the key difference between monjouro and wegovy for you?

    Thank you so much for this video 😊 I can resonate with the same battle you are fighting, it’s crazy how our minds are shaped at such a young age and can affect our whole life! I do have a question, did you titrate up slow or fast on the GLP-1 meds? I’m just wondering because I was told every 4 weeks:/ I’m kind of confused about that as I’m only on 5mg of Mounjaro and I started my journey December 25, 2023

  • @mindypweightloss

    @mindypweightloss

    I titrated every 4 weeks, and I wish I hadn't. I was losing great on the low doses, and if I had taken my time, I may have gotten more longevity out of the positive side effects. If I had it to do over again, I would stay on each dose for as long as it was working for me. It's definitely a conversation to have with your Dr, though. ❤️
