WASH. AND. GO. It's a nah from me dawg. Or is it!? Share this vid to bribe me into trying again!!! But for me this was BY FAR the highest requested hair style EVER. Natural hair styles are plentiful but a 4c hair wash n go is basically expert mode sooooo. I hope you guys enjoyed and that my 4c hair and I entertained you! What did you think of this 4c natural hair style?
--------------------------------------
wash and go 4c natural hair is hard. wash and go natural hair is hard. So getting through an entire 4c wash day is hard enough, but when you add high shrinkage to the mix, life is hard. Natural hair isn't without its challenges, but this dry damaged natural hair really does up the ante. having kinky hair too is pretty intense most of the time lol So, hopefully my shrinkage test will be helpful to you somehow. :)

    LOVE YOUR GORGEOUS COILS SOO MUCH!! next time just try doing this on SOAKING WET hair! Step 1. DRENCH hair in warm water Step 2. Apply leave-in using raking method Step 3. Spray hair with more water and then add a heavy styling cream (ie. Jane carter Curl Cocktail is amazing) Step 4. Spray hair again! and add your gel to seal it all in and define the curls a lil more - Do all this in your lil sections and DON'T USE OIL!! Oil just coats the hair, stopping moisture from penetraing your beautiful strands! - Also avoid silicones in all your products! (dimethicone, amodimethicone, trimethicone, *anything ending in “..ethicone” really) YOU’RE AMAZING!! So excited about your hair journey!! xxx

    And its okay to have silicone in your products. Not all hairtypes are the same and some people actually need silicone and parabens and what not. It really depends on your hair type. Stop enforcing the false narrative that everyone has the same head of hair and that we all have to follow the same procedures.🙂

  • @benesber

    @benesber

    3 жыл бұрын

    Tae TM First of all, no one NEEDS silicones or parabens... some hair can just handle them fine, but no hair type needs them... that’s bs 2nd of all, why are you so pressed though? And 3rd of all, I’m not “enforcing a false narrative” babe. I worked at a curly hair salon for a while and I understand curly hair. I specifically typed out those instructions as to how her hair would most likely respond. Take your uneducated, angry ass elsewhere xx

  • @benesber

    @benesber

    Tae TM I suggested not using oil as she CLEARLY has low porosity hair, which has no trouble keeping keeping moisture that’s already in the hair but struggles to absorb moisture. Oil will only cost her low porosity strands, further increasing her hair’s struggle to absorb moisture.

    In my experience, it’s best to leave the defined curls alone while they’re wet. I let my curls air dry and I don’t touch them at all. I’ll rock a shrunken wash & go as it air dries. If I want to stretch, I lightly mist with water and band in sections AFTER the defined curls have air dried.

    Tips: Focus more on the moisture than the gel! When you wash your hair, remember to put conditioner on your ends and then shampoo! This way your ends are a bit more moisturized and protected! Also remember to deep condition your hair after you’re done washing! Find a good leave in and hair milk. I also recommend even after you rinse everything out that you spray your hair with water before going in with the gel.

    Not just 4c hair. The only ppl doing quick wash and goes are types 2 and 3. It takes so long bc ppl are trying to weigh their hair down when it wants to go up in its loose state. Our hair also doesn't clump easily with the products on the market. If u do a wash and go as a defined afro, I'm sure the process would be 10x faster. Btw I've never done one bc I don't really like gel or alot of product in my hair. I think a easy wash and go on 4c hair would be after a clay wash, then deep condition, leave some of the conditioner in and rake in gel.

    Since my hair is short, all I do is wash n go’s. My success came from two places, a natural hair celebrity stylist and Adwoa Beauty brand (that is to die for), WATER 💧 is the number 1 source for successful wash n go’s. A Leave-in is a must, added on the sopping wet hair, then depending on how I feel, cream, gel or both spraying in water along the way and sometimes oil to seal. Then a Very lively head shake to define the curls then I normally air dry, or use my diffuser. I hope you try it again🥰🥰🥰

Rinse the conditioner and then apply the Aunt Jackie Elongating gel while my hair is still soaked. I then comb it through and give my hair a good thorough shake. Shrinkage is always going to be a thing and it’s a sign of health so... it is what it is.

    ok maybe i can give a tip if you feel like trying this again ... my hair isn’t fully 4c, but i have A LOT of shrinkage and little to no definition without product. I do my wash and gos pretty much on soaking wet hair, I use the mane choice biotin infused styling gel(on top of my leave in) it’s the best curl definer I’ve ever tried. Then to stretch my curls I use braids ! It’s genius because my hair gets stretch and anywhere my curls aren’t defined the braids help with that. I don’t like my hair to dry fully because then it’s a little hard and stiff, but if I take it out while it’s still slightly damp, I’ll get more shrinkage, but my hair dries softer and more to my own natural curl pattern. Lol sorry for the long comment just a tip and I promise my wash n gos come out soo bomb. But they definitely aren’t wash n GO’s lmaoo. More like wash, style and stay😂

    Here’s what I do: When you are first starting out with dry 4c hair for thin naturals you have to get moisture in your hair. To do this some people use the extreme moisture treatments and some pre poo.Your hair will tell you which one is needed. After awhile of doing it you won’t need to do it often. Then you wash your hair with a shampoo like Aunt Jackie’s because it won’t take out the moisture. Then you condition with a rinse out conditioner. Then you do a deep condition. Your hair will tell you if you need to sit under the dryer with a cap on. If so, 15 minutes is fine. You can also chose to sleep with the deep conditioner in. Wash it out with cold water this will lock in the moisture and seal your strands making them strong again from all that work. Do not towel dry. On wet hair apply leave in conditioner, then cream, and lock in with oil. Some people can stop here. Others need to use a gel to hold the stretch of the conditioner or they choose a method they want their curl pattern to form. You can do the shingling method to train your curls. I hope this helps. Don’t stop trying because you are not a quitter!

    Same here: I have 4B hair (super fine strands, plus not dense at all), and I’ve never understood why people love wash-n-goes because seems it takes everybody whose “type 4” about 90 minutes to complete, and u just *know* you’re gonna have knots for days after about 72 hours - at best! I’ll take that hour-and-a-half and do a twist out or braid out that will last me a full week, and then have minimal knotting when next washday arrives.

    I feel like maybe if you saturated each section with water before applying the gel, it would have made a difference. I feel one gets the best definition for a wash and go on saturated wet hair. For the most part, what I saw is that you were adding gel to dry/damp hair and adding gel to dry/damp hair doesn’t give unless it’s really wet and well moisturized

    Hey Danielle, just do what fluff nugget likes 🧡 I forced my 4c/b hair to do wash n gos because I wanted to see my natural curls and appear effortless. But it’s NOT effortless. I agree with everyone that water is a must! Your hair must be dripping wet. But wash n gos aren’t for everyone, in my opinion. Or it requires a different technique for everybody. My moms 4b and I give her wash n gos a certain way and it lasts 3 wks, and she sleeps on it with no scarf, no banding, no nothing... and it is defined every day. For myself, I’ve found a way to fake a wash n go that doesn’t require wet hair or hours of waiting to dry. The main thing I wanted was to see my curls CLUMP together. So now I twist my hair in about 35-40 twists... but while I’m twisting, I twirl each strand around my finger one time and then I twist normally for two full rotations, and I repeat this for the entire twist. The twirling clumps my strands. I don’t do it for the entire twist though because I fear it being too clumped a.k.a. Tangles. The next day I wear a very defined twist out that’s separated one time, but THAT NIGHT (this is what gives me the stretched wash n go appearance) I braid my twist out in 8-12 braids. So, within the braid, the hair is clumped together and that prevents frizz, provides a gentle stretch, and adds an extra crinkle that enhances definition. Then when I take out the braids, the hair falls in defined, clumped curls. I needed the uniformity! Most of my hair is 4c/b but the different textures hang differently and shrink differently. Doing a braided twist out gives me more control. Each night, I braid it up in 4-10 braids depending on the definition I want. This can last me 2 wks. I’m sorry Danielle, idk why I told you all this! I’m not saying it could work for you, but just that you will find your own way. My hair doesn’t like traditional wash n gos, and this way I get a uniform curl when I want it with very little shrinkage. I don’t do this every month.

    Girl all you need is saturated hair. Your hair should be soaking wet. You need to have a spray bottle to rewet each section and be heavy handed with your gel. You don’t need oil but can use a leave in if you want. After your strands are coated in gel shake your hair around left and right, side to side vigorously and your curls will pop! And no bands. You should only band your wash and go after it’s 100% dry to stretch your coils! Love you 💜 You should try the Mane Choice Braid Out Glaze, Mane Choice Cheers Gelato, or Aunt Jackie’s Ice Curls Gel for a one product wash and go. No leave in needed!

    I love wash n go’s, my favorite, easiest natural hairstyle. Gotta soak that hair with water, then apply the gel generously, but not overly so. Most times I don’t even do the whole sectioning off thing. Just wet it up and put the stuff on like I would apply conditioner. I ADORE Kinky Curly Curling Custard. I keep trying other products just because, but keep coming back to KCCC, cuz it just ROCKS my 4c’s! Cheaper stand-by is EcoStyler gel-ONLY the argon oil one with the red lid.

    You need tons of water for each of the sections and a good curl cream before using the gel or it will flake and be dry,you also need a leave in that will mesh with the gel and curl cream and a good oil like castor or jojoba to seal it all in.then you got to shake it a few times when it all finished and soaking wet still then let in sit and partly air dry for at least half an hour so the curl will set then diffuse it or sit under a hooded dryer. If you want it stretched then band it at night instead of using heat. Also because your hair is 4c lime mine you may need to use a curl cream,oil,and leave in in the morning to re-moisturize. Since your hair is shorter,running the product through is not the best method,you should probably shingle it,it will come out a lot better that way. Dont just put a bonnet on and sleep on it at night either,put into four large puffs if you pineapple it,It may not fully come back down.the African pride moisture miracle line is a God send when it comes to 4c wash n go's

    When I want to show off my length and 4B pattern, I use water and plenty of ORS locking gel to shingle it. It’s like a heavy pudding and it weighs the hair down for hours especially if you put clips on the ends of your hair and let it dry. Only thing is, I do it occasionally bc I literally have to rinse my whole head and re-moisturize my hair. Sometimes if I do this after a style, I have some build up so I just pull on those sections to remove some of the product.

    It came out really cute. A tips for next time. Best results for wash n gos are when the hair a super wet. Apply your leave in, moisturizer & gel on super wet hair. Let your hair completely dry ( best is to air dry) before you band it. You can stretch it with heat the first day then band at nighttime to keep the length. Hope that helps. And yes, I want you to try it again! 🙂💜❤️

    Don't use oil or cream on top of leave in. They both make the hair white and it takes forever to dry. Secondly, it all depends on what kind of wash n go you are trying to achieve. Some people like lite n fluffy wash n gos. Some people like weighed down defined wash n gos. (That's me!). You have to determine which one you want before selecting your products. The best products I have found to weigh the hair down to keep it elongated and give curl definition are Eco Black Castor flax gel topped with Wetline Xtreme. Those products together with just a leave in will give you great hold, definition, very little crunch and weigh your hair down for elongation. They are both heavy gels, but that's what I like. And I use A LOT. Try that next time.

    Wash n go tips On detangled hair Apply leave in section by section to wet warm hair while in the shower raking with fingers only. Add a lightweight oil to sections in shower Let it soak in for a bit to increase moisture and avoid it reacting to the gel Apply gel- smoothing and rake in a checkered pattern (first horizontal then vertically) add extra water on top of the gel and rake for more definition *fingers only using a brush or comb typically ruins definition for type 4 hair Once all the gel is applied shake hair vigorously to help clump curls. Air dry or dry with a diffuser *highly recommended Do not touch the curls while drying After the hair is completely dry use a blow dryer or banding method to stretch the curls Avoid products with glycerin and other humectants to keep hair from from shrinking and puffing out This is from my hair journal*notes section in iPhone lol It's been super helpful to just document methods and product combinations that have worked out well.

    1) Do it on wet hair, spray some when needed 2) Choose a good and compatible (with your gel) leave in to avoid the white cast 3) More water= less gel but still need a lot of it 4) Do it the morning to let it dry naturally 5) Use oil to if the gel is too strong

    I'm happy you tried it. I had to do it about twice before I got it. I have 4c hair and I personally don't like that gel. Camille Rose Curl maker and Uncle Funky's curly magic gel work very well for 4c hair. Wetline gel works well too but leaves my hair a bit dry. The secret is to have your hair soaking, soaking, dripping wet when you apply your leave in and your gel. Just use your hands to smooth the products on and rake them through your hair section by section, re-wetting your hair if necessary. Shake your head to separate your curls. It's also essential to test your leave in and gel before you start to see if they will work well together. Rub a bit of both together on your hand and see if they mix smoothly. If they do it's a go. If they don't then they will likely flake when your hair dries.

    I have a mix of 4b/4c hair, I think lol, and this is what I did recently and it gave me the very best wash and go I've had in 4 years lol. I took my hair out of 2 montj old box braids and used napturally 85's oil to do a hot oil treatment because i read hot oil treatments are great prepoos for 4c hair. I just sprayed my hair with water to get wet then applied the oil and sat under my soft hood dryer for 20 mins. After that i washed my hair with shea moisture and put napturally's twisting cream in my hair. I left my hair in twists for 2 days and on the 3rd day i sprayed my hair with water and put eco styler, the olive oil one, in my hair using a mix of praying hands and raking. I kid you not, my curls have never popped that much like ever. I really think the prepoo is what did it.
