why I cut my 4C Natural Hair | StarPuppy vs Natural Hair Growth

#4chair #bigchop #naturalhairgrowth #naturalhairbigchop
BUY MY MERCH?!
teespring.com/stores/starpupp...
--------------------------------------
Alright. I finally found to time. and the gumption to cut Fluffnugget. My 4c natural hair was perishing slowly and something had to be done. I tried everything to save her, protein treatments, deep conditioning, hot oil treatments, everything. But when it came down to it, I had to let somethings go. This should help a ton on my hair growth journey and I hope you guys are excited as I am to see what natural hair shenanigans we get up to now.
--------------------------------------
So getting through an entire 4c wash day is hard enough, but when you add high shrinkage to the mix, life is hard. Natural hair isn't without its challenges, but this dry damaged natural hair really does up the ante. having kinky hair too is pretty intense most of the time lol So, hopefully my shrinkage test will be helpful to you somehow. :)

Its true. I went to salon to finally get my damaged ends cut off when I called myself trying to dye my hair. The best thing I ever did for my hair, it started growing much faster cause my ends were not breaking off constantly.

That's true for all hair textures and I had to fight some people over this before just to then get an apology and a thank you for making them cut of their damaged ends. I get mine cut every about 4 months, my hair can handle it that often some need more cutting some less you just kind of feel when your ends get to a point where they have to go again. If you do it regularly there doesn't need to be cut that much too, I get cut about 1-2 each time so less than an inch so I still get more growth than what is cut off. Doesn't matter what your texture is, the damage will slowly travel up your hair shaft and destroy everything.

2:05 I feel that 100% and almost cried because people don't realize the struggle. I have mixed textures in my hair, but most of my hair is 4c & 4b and it shrinks literally to the scalp. And people within my own community always find a way to make me feel insecure about my natural hair texture. I'm always getting questions like "what are you going to do with it" "you're just gonna leave it like that?" as if there's something wrong with my hair. People with 3c & 4a hair NEVER get asked these questions. And I hate it when people say "oh you got that kinky hair" referring to my hair as "that" like it's a disease. It's truly sad and I just wish all black folks had 4c hair so we won't have these issues. For a while I thought about texturizing my hair...getting the "Gina Curl" if you don't know what that is just search it up. But I realized I only wanted to do it because I cared what others thought about my hair, which is a very wrong reason. I love my hair, because it's mine and I never saw anything wrong with it. It shrinks literally 80% lol. But it's okay, BECAUSE ITS MINE

That's how it was for me when my hair was shorter. A lot of people don't appreciate kinkier hair unless it's longer and if you don't have it in a curly style, they assume it's not "done". People are ignorant to this type of hair, a lot of people don't know what it's actually supposed to look like.

Shrinkage is a sign of healthy 4C hair. Damaged hair would be limp. In your quest to fight shrinkage, I think you over-manipulate your hair sometimes leading to damage. It's ok to stretch it out, but not all the time. Work with nature, not against it. ✌🏾❤

I have fine and kinky hair. Keeping it stretched has reduced my tangles, knots and breakage. This is the longest my hair has ever been. Right now my hair reaches just below my shoulder blades (about 1 1/2 inches from bra strap) for the most part. I think keeping the moisture and protein balance is very important.

I am just so glad that you got a fresh cut and that you did not have heat damage to deal with. I am also glad that you found a stylist that knows how to handle tightly coiled kinky hair properly. I can't wait until you next video. I am so proud of you. You put a HUGH smile on my face today! Enjoy Fluffnugget in her shrunken and stretched state.😍 God bless your journey.

I strongly recommend hair mayonnaise which is a protein treatment to help with breakage. And I know you use Jamaican castor oil but it’s seriously my ultimate holy grail and made my thick and healthy again. Also try rice water. I hope this helped 💗

It was so dry, so see through , about a month ago I cut it off. All of it. Now it’s growing how it should. I cowash, deep condition, use black castor oil, Shea butter and shiiiddd she is growing and soft as hell. Good luck on your journey!

It is just so scary to trust someone else on your head. You are such an open person, that this seemed more relaxed than any appointments I have had in the past. It took me forever to open up to my beautician which was also before my hair became...dragon like. And when I did start transitioning, I didn't go to anybody except my mom. I have thought about going to professionals but....scared.

I've had to cut my hair many times....over the nearly 20 years of being natural. Your body changes...your scalp changes....your hair changes. I recently cut my hair down to a twa in december of 2018. Until I can figure out my hair and scalp issues, there is no point in trying to get it to grow long because the breakage is real. I completely understand the dry under-moisturize scalp and hair. I have to wet AND co-wash my hair EVERY SINGLE DAY. If I don't my hair is sahara level dry all the time. I can't wait to see if you can find something to work for your hair!

ManicMeeks if you’re wetting and co-washing your hair every day then your hair isn’t getting what it needs or your not moisturizing well or you should start on DIY products. I think you’re drying your hair out by co-washing too much which could be causing damage at the roots or the ends. If you’re anemic, start on iron supplements or eat foods rich in iron. Iron deficiency causes hair breakage at the roots and/or the ends. May I suggest you find unrefined butters and oils that have fat, omega 3, 6, 9 and vitamins contained in those unrefined oils and butters? Grape seed oil, Babassu oil, hemp seed oil, sesame seed oil, moringa oil, sea buckthorn oil, Ugandan Nilotica Shea butter, cupuacu, murumuru, mango butter, etc.

@@Rhys-Morgan I can't use oils in my hair. My scalp creates too much oil, but it doesn't reach the hair like its supposed to. Any oils based moisture will cause my scalp to itch and break out into hives. I have to wet my hair to comb it...period. Not mist it with water....or spray it with a bottle, but wet it and use a moisturizing conditioner or else my fingers can't make it through. I'm struggling with finding something that can keep my hair moisturized for more than a day.

She had the heat on so high i saw smoke and my hair just continued to fall apart after that. I finally cut it last month and i'm so happy I did, it was heard because i didn't want to let my length go, but now my hair is so healthy

Girl, you're preaching. I let my hair go for about a year because I was depressed and just didn't feel like it mattered. But we recovering.

Length doesn't define beauty of your hair. Everybody hair grows differently. My hair is natural and short. I love it!🥰 I had to cut mine also from relaxers and heat damage. My hair has never been long even back when it-was Healthy and natural. I embrace my hair no matter the length. The main goal is health like you said. What ppl mean by just hair is that take care of and it will come back😉. Lol its not like losing a limb that will never return. Long or short love it regardless! 😘

I hope you do eventually get around to trying a wash n go on your hair. So many people seem to think that 4c hair can't do it, but it absolutely can, and once you get the technique right it looks absolutely beautiful! I am also 4c and went right years before ever really trying it properly. Now that I have figured out what works, it has become one of my favourite ways to Wear my hair, because of how beautiful it looks and how freeing it feels. Especially since you have a new shape that compliments your face, it will definitely look bomb! Any 4c friends who have attempted and failed at wash n gos before, I encourage you to give it a couple more goes until you get the products and technique right. You will suprise yourself!

If I can make a recommendation, as a 4b/4c when I realized my hair have grown stagnant and breakage and knots were prevalent i switched to 100% pure castor oil and 100% pure aloe vera gel and it has worked wonders, I could use a professional trim as well but my breakage went from medium clump of hair in wash day to a few strands, It worked sooo well and my nails grew stronger as well.
