So. I have thin hair. I have sparse density hair. I have 4C kinky short thin hair. I have literally the opposite of what is glorified in the natural hair community. I have reason to believe I'm not alone. And you know what? Even if I was I would love my hair just the same. It's so important to love your hair no matter how much of it there is. I love my thin natural hair.

This is the only channel I can watch about hair that doesn’t make me feel even worse. One thing I might add, hair is probably one of the most important tributes to your appearance, so it bothers me when other people act like it isn’t a big deal. It is really frustrating that your hair is the thing keeping you from doing anything because you simply don’t want to put up with it. I personally get really annoyed whenever I look in a mirror and see it knowing I WANT to do something with it, but all the hairstyles I want to do aren’t possible with my natural hair.

Oh my gosh, mine too. It's like the strands love each other so much that they're always hugging!!! I don't like twist outs due to my sparse density and a wash and go looks better but I lose so much hair when it is time to shampoo cause the curls are all intertwined!! But I love my hair cause, like you said, some people "ain't" got none 😁

Sammeeeee, but I found that if I detangle between wash days and moisturize and seal then on wash days it's a lot better and helps with shedding. Also, a trick I learned, put your favorite moisturizer and water in an applicate or mist bottle, and then just apply it straight to your scalp and massage it, then top it off and apply a little bit of oil and massage again and baby dryness and tangling/matting are put in her place.

There isn't a lot of representation for us in the natural hair community. I can't do mini twists and have it look good. I can't do a lion mane because I end up with gaps. When it's short, it looks like I have a ton. When it grows out you see the gaps and it flops over. Fluffing doesn't help it just makes me frizzy because I can't hide that I'm still sparse. I have to style it or else I look like I'm on crack.

But my 10 year old is definitely 4c and most of it just broke off after a two month protective style. I'm good with relaxed hair but am a fish out of water with her curls and coils. You give us hope. She watched this video with me and I watched her disappointment and hopelessness melt away as she laughed and understood you in ways she couldn't with other youtubers. So thank you so much. You are absolutely right. I had a reality check one day when one of those ladies with thick hair on KZread said to go in the mirror and look at what you are dealing with. Yep, I looked and I saw sparse density hair. And to boot gray hair. At that time I never heard of "sparse density hair." So no I wasn't going to get all those thick coils. Years ago I had a friend that had that thick long hair and she pointed out that she had more hair follicles per square inch than me. No she wasn't throwing shade just making my young self aware that hairstyles would look different on my hair than her's. She was older than me & we would talk about maintaining our own beauty.

I FELT THIS SO HARD!!! THIS is my life for real! I have to work really really hard not to get depressed every time I see someone on KZread or IG with this gorgeous “do” that can only be accomplished by someone with the thickest hair on the planet. I remember the first time I tried doing two strand twists as a (what I thought would be) a cute protective style, only to find out that my twists only looked thick if I didn’t do more than 8-10 twists in my entire head! As an added bonus, my hair has different hair types - the back is 4a, the sides are 4b, and smack at the top and crown where my hair is the thinnest, it’s a cottony 4c and will not in any way shape or form - no matter what type or how much product I use or how long I keep it twisted - hold a curl. It will immediately turn back to cottony fuzz. But, like you, I am grateful that at least I’m not bald. And I am grateful that I found you so that I can be reassured that there are others out there like me. It’s frustrating to not have much representation on KZread, socials, or commercials. So I’ll happily subscribe to you.

Reasons sparse density hair is good: 1: Cornrows and box braids look nice longer. Because the parts between your braids are bigger so there is a longer amount of time before the hair underneath the braids starts to puff up from growing out 2: Less time for styling. Although it may take more time to care for and keep healthy styling is much quicker because there's simply less hair to do which means a quicker time doing things like braid out's and less money spent to get your hair styled 3: It's great for wigs. If you like wearing wigs as a protective Style having less hair is great because it makes it much easier to keep flat to your scalp then a large amount of hair which can cause a wig to look bulky on your head if your hair isn't braided down really well 4: More breathable. If your scalp is more exposed your hair can get the air it needs to "breathe" and stay healthy and your scalp will have better circulation from things like changes in temperature as this keeps the blood vessels and blood flow in your scalp more active 5:YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL JUST THE WAY YOU ARE ❤❤❤❤❤ Thank you for coming to my TED Talk

Although my hair is very fine, it is long, passed my shoulder but so fine it doesn't matter how I wear it, it doesn't look good but because I have some length, I get away with patting it down soo much that it looks thick, but if you comb it out....yeah lol!

I’m literally sitting here after watching your video that popped up in my feed and am now feeling so affirmed! I remember my kiddo telling me I had a bald spot and felt mortified. I thought it was thinning due to aging and my med ( which may cause thinning), but because I never paid too much attention to this, I had nothing to compare it too. And watching hair videos def made me more self-aware. THANK YOU for highlighting and normalizing the LD/thin experience, and reminding us how privileged we’re really are to even have something to comb!

Low density hair - the struggle is REAL. Thanks for representing!...There is a reason I am wearing a beanie in my default picture #scalpshowing. You are hilarious. Loved the plot twist! Thanks for being so positive and so real. Even though my texture is different than yours with my 2a/b hair, omgee, the low density struggle is real. In high school a "friend" said I had a "Coconut head" : /. Rude. Anyway, working on embracing my low density with learning how to work with it. Thanks again for the representation. Keep it up.

I have thin fine hair too 😭 I think my hair is a wee bit more thin than Danielle in some places. I naturally have super duper thin edges too. Everyone used to say "you need to stop wearing weaves and massage it with castor oil". I've never worn a weave in my life. I was born with no edges lol. Sadly, I can never do a braid out or twist out. By the time I separate enough to hide my scalp, it's an afro. It's 4a in the back, 4c in the middle and 4b front. Which is STUPID because the middle of my hair shrinks up like crazy.
