The amazing thing is, on the documentary they say that Randy didn't want to perform this song live, because it is so high pitched and difficult... the rest of the band encouraged it 'to the limit'... then he did it... and this is the result, on the video you can see the other members of the band looking happy and the "told you" look through the song... masterpiece

True story: I was living in the D.C. area in 1971 when I turned 21. A group of my friends took me out to a club on US 1 in Northern Virginia to celebrate. There was a small stage area and a banner hung above it with the words "Welcome to the Eagles--direct from L.A." We had never heard of the Eagles then--they hadn't yet released an album. Anyway, as we sat there drinking pitchers of beer and my friends toasting me, the Eagles noticed and asked if it was someone's birthday. Everyone pointed at me, and then they sang Happy Birthday to me. Of course, at the time it didn't mean a lot that a band in a seedy club out on HWY 1 would sing happy birthday to someone. That changed when they made it big and I realized it was the same Eagles. It's quite a memory... And this song is one of my favorites.

Not true. Don Felder wrote Victim of Love and was supposed to sing it. Their manager invited him out to a dinner to discuss buisness and Henley recorded the vocals in the studio behind his back. Of course, once Felder heard it, he knew there was no way he could top it, so he let it slide, which is probably what Henley banked on.

For those who are less familiar with the Eagles story this song was their first #1 and a huge fan favorite. Randy Meisner, bass/lead vocal, was always nervous to sing this song, particularly that high note at the end. He had to constantly be heavily persuaded by the other members to do the song every show. In this clip right after he perfectly executes that high note you can see Glenn Frey at the piano looking at him and smiling and signaling to Randy, "way to go man! You nailed it!" while the crowd is cheering. This entire concert is gold.

I saw the Eagles the first time in 1973 when I was 13 and as great as the music was, what really blew me away is their vocals were so perfect. Then I saw them on every tour until they broke up in 1980, and they always sounded so much better live than they did on their albums, and the albums were phenomenal. They also always had a “clean” sound in concert: extremely loud but everything was crystal clear.

Eagles started as more of a country-rock band but developed a harder edge as they matured and guitarists Don Felder and Joe Walsh joined the band. But, they incorporated funk, rhythm and blues, disco in some of their tunes. “One of These Nights” has a disco backbeat, but a killer rock solo by Felder and a great vocal by Henley. ‘Lyin’ Eyes “ is a terrific country ballad sung by Glenn Frey. “New Kid in Town” another country-tinged ballad about fleeting fame by Frey. “Victim of Love” by Henley is their hardest material. ‘Best of My Love” by Henley is a bitter-sweet No. 1 ballad from 1975. The band has a deep well of hits. They aren’t the Beatles, but in terms of hits, talent, and sales, they are as close a any American band came.

OMG, I ENVY you! I could only dream!!!!! They could sing the damn phonebook and make me melt!!!!

I have literally listened to this performance hundreds of times, and get the chills every time.
Every single one of the Eagles sang lead vocals on a song, that's the most impressive thing about them in my opinion. They are a complete band.

Best selling album in the United States as of three days ago. 38 million copies.
The guys are perfectionists when it comes to live performances.A joy to watch and listen to.
The best band... EVER. I don't know where I'd be without their music as I was entering high school. They define my high school years.
Take It Easy is another one you will love by the eagles.
There has never been a bad Eagles group. Artists have come and some have gone. Unbelievably good.

They haven't done anything in 40 years.
The thing that I love about these guys is that they were a REAL group. There were no lead singers because they all sing lead. Another group like this is Fleetwood Mac - another one of my favorites
The Eagles are without a doubt the greatest band of all time. Yes, do check out Lyin’ Eyes! And be sure to also react to Desperado, Take it Easy (live), and Peaceful Easy Feeling.
❤❤ Great reactions to the Eagles. "Desperado" Next reaction.
All you need to know about The Eagles. They were angry at each other during what would be their last concert for 1979. They broke up. During the 80's, all of their songs would still be played on the radio and got lots of attention, keeping the band's popularity extremely high. They did a reunion tour in 1994 for their new album, "Hell freezes over", and were together ever since. That is how good they are.

When asked if they would ever get back together, I believe it was Don Henley who replied, "When Hell freezes over." Hence the name of their reunion album.

The Hell Freezes Over tour was named so because when they broke up and were asked if they would ever get back together, they said, " When hell freezes over." Or so the story goes.
I love it! Every time he hit that high note...the band all grinned at him. They never knew he could do it til he surprised them during rehearsal ❤❤❤❤
Rip Randy an Glen, pure talent.
This was the greatest lineup. Anything they did was priceless !!! ❤❤❤

No...don't exaggerate, they had some stinkers
My favorite Eagles song, hands down! Randy Meisner was absolutely amazing!! IT was a very sad day when he exited the band. IMO, the band was never the same again. Sure, they were still great, but they lost a MAJOR piece of the puzzle when Randy told them good-bye. I doubt Don and Glenn ever gave him the cred he deserved.

Timothy B. Schmit was a solid replacement for Randy.
RIP Randy Meisner. What a voice!
Your reaction when Randy hit those high notes made me tear up! Priceless!
The Eagles and Chicago…the greatest of all time!!!
"I CANT TELL YOU WHY"!!! Great song, yes they are ALL incredible musicians and vocalists !!
There are no bad Eagles songs. That applies also to Bob Seger songs. In fact Seger collaborated on Heartache Tonight and got songwriting credit. Many of Seger’s songs and Eagles songs remind you of that country-soul appeal. Thanks for this. 👏👏🥰
Randy absolutely nailed this performance. At the end, I love when Felder gives Randy the "V" for victory fingers!! "Lyin Eyes" from this same concert is also an amazing performance.
Eagles have a ton of hits and great songs, Already Gone is one of my favorites
1980, Imagine, the Eagles were the first concert I saw with a 10 dollar ticket. Seen so many great bands for less than 10 bucks and now it was 10 bucks to see the Eagles. What would it cost to see them now? The video your reacting too is amazing and I bet it was an 8 dollar ticket at most. lol The good ol days.

Zep for less than $10 ( but that was '74 or 5), Boston for $7, Heart for 5. Most I ever spent in the 70's was $15 for the Bee Gees in '79... but HEY it was the Bee Gees 😃

I was 19 in 1977. It was glorious. There are no bad Eagles songs. I’m truly sorry you never saw them live but isn’t it amazing we have all of these videos. Thanks, BP. 🤟🏼
I was always surprised that the "country" radio stations didn't play the hell out of the Eagles. Much better than the normal country fare.

Back in their day, the Eagles were considered hippies and part of the “California” music scene by Nashville. As such, they weren’t welcomed on country radio despite the obvious country roots in much of their music.
One of my Favs is Take It Easy, you may recognize the lyric Standing on the Corner in Winslow, AZ.

this is back in my time. Love Love the Eagles. Thank you for checking them out. I love your rambling about how the music makes you feel.
I was at this concert in 1977. It was amazing!! The Eagles are one of the greatest bands ever!! Check out "WITCHY WOMAN", "Take it Easy", "One of these Nights" and "Peaceful Easy Feeling." RIP Glenn Frey and Randy Meisner.

Yes, Wings of Pegasus dissected several of their live performances. The later ones have been pitch corrected but he said this one was not and thank goodness.
The Eagles are masters. Yes so much talent. Excellent performance
Oh wow! The memories. 15 and couple skating to this song. Love the trip down memory lane. Thank you.
