My First Ride on a Polaris Outlaw 525 IRS
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
I was fortunate enough to ride one of my favorite sport quads of all time! Big thanks to AJ for letting me take his awesome Outlaw for a rip! This machine was very innovative when it was released. It's such a shame the market crashed not long after and future development stopped. I really enjoyed my ride on this quad and I would love to have one in the garage someday!
I'm super stoked about the new Honda shirt design!

Pete Hager hey I just watched the video you made when you were chasing the 450r at spider lake and I want to show you a place that’s fun and it’s called Durhamtown and if you go on the trails go to L trail when it’s dry and it’s so beautiful

Pete deserves more fame , he is so dedicated to KZread
Bought a 525 irs last fall right before it snowed..... been patiently waiting to take it out on the trails. cant wait!!!
I have the same exact quad and love it. Key to keep the front end tamed, or at least for me, is all about tire preasure. If it's to high its like riding on ice all the time
I learned a good Raptor lesson yesterday. Take a break as soon as you start to get tired. I got thrown off sliding around a corner. No serious injury, thank God. Keep up the videos man!

Good to hear you came out unscathed, it's definitely easy to get fatigued and not realize it. The Raptor is a ton of fun but it can get a bit dicy if you start to lose control of it
Love the fact your intro isn't entirely you riding. Your friends are a part of it :) looking forward to another season of content my man. Keep up the good work and have some fun!!
I became an Outlaw fan roughly a year ago. The 06-08 body style (500/525) has an awkward seating position in my opinion. If you add 1-2" of foam pad to level the seat it's a lot nicer! I like how the battery is located under the headlights on the older body style because it's completely out of the way when shopping for better nerf bars. The larger fuel tank is also welcoming on the older models, but that being said 09+ IRS models are by far my favorite if you can find one. The seat is plusher, ride height is lower, footpegs are moved 1" forward, and comes standard with a steering stem that accepts clamps spaced 4" apart. I originally had an HMF exhaust on my 09 and went to a 172mj, 48 pilot, 5th clip on the needle and it hit harder than my YFZ450R. I liked the looks of the Yoshimura exhaust better and lost the bottom-mid range hit with the spark arrestor installed. I was really surprised by how smooth the power curve became with the Yoshimura. On the bright side the Yoshimura is quieter. I will probably sell that and go back to an HMF Performance series as I'm not racing the Outlaw so the hit is welcoming. I enjoyed watching the video! The next time you come through KY we really need to try harder to meet up at one of the local parks.

Thanks for all the great info Kenneth! I really enjoyed my experience on this older style outlaw. I definitely hope to come rip with you in KY and to experience the 2nd generation outlaw. These are really cool machines and they definitely are super capable!
Its nice when you try other machines and give a review about it ! Very cool ! If i can give a little suggestion what would be cool also is if you do a little walk around with your friend's quads so they could tell what they did or put on their machines. Nice video as always bud !!
I had an 06(?) 500 when they first came out. Myself and a friend both bought them new. I think this was back when they had the IRS outlaw and Predator. We both had quite a few issues in the short time we owned them but the IRS on a sport quad was really awesome! If the build quality was better I definitely would have loved to keep it!
These quad reviews are sick man. Do as many as you can gets alot of views nice man!
Bro your raptor sounds so good and that looks like a nice place to ride.
that's awesome :) its nice to see older quads like that or older, quads that are so overlooked yet have so much potential, Outlaw's, Predator's, KTM's, Bombardier, Can Am's Cannondale's, Raptor's, ect all good machines but people for some reason always end up with 450's which is fine but its not the same, keep em coming Pete, you the man :)

They fall apart... Thats why they are rated where they belong. A guy my dad and i rode with got his.. And every ride something fell off or started rattling. Last gen outlaws are beautiful
I used to have an 07 Raptor 700 SE, 08 Outlaw 525 straight axle, and an 06 YFZ 450. The quickest off the line was the 525, the raptor felt like it had more top speed but I'm sure it would have taken it while to catch the Outlaw. The yfz felt and was much lighter than both. So easy to throw around and more forgiving on the body. The best mod you can do to the straight axle Outlaw 525 is MAKE yourself a custom intake, don't buy cause they won't do much better than stock. I bought a used intake trunk off a KTM 525 dirt bike, small PVC pipe, a pretty big k&n filter, and got rid of the stock intake box and made my own (no way the new intake and filter will fit). Spent less than $120. Huge improvement over stock. Went from the stock 139 main jet to a 176 main. Anyone with a 525 S knows they come with the smallest intake and box ever put on a sport quad. I never had any issues with any of my quads. Changed the oil every ride and filters every other. I didn't ride the 525 and 450 as much as I would have liked but neither gave me problems. I did hear that the KTM engines weren't that reliable so I am happy I never had any problems, I chalk that up to me not putting many hours on it. The raptor had full intake, pc3, and no baffle. Outlaw had full exhaust, custom intake with a k&n, and rejetted. Yfz was also full exhaust, intake and jetted.
@Stoshua.81
3 жыл бұрын
The ktm rfs engines were very dependable pretty much bullet proof when maintained
Those KTM engines really start to open up once you feed it more air and rejet it, the all stock ones are nice, but most newer raptors will take em. But the fully moded out KTM 525 engines are absurdly fast. I've seen a few out there, and they are pretty hard to beat on a short drag.
Your videos are super cool

If you remember how was the power and on your ktm and how did you like it. My dad has a outlaw 525 irs and I know the power it has and how it rides but I am leading towards the ktm 525 over an outlaw because I think it look of it better, has a straight axel and over all has many adjustable components to have it really dialled in.
@PeteHager

It's the same engine so power wise it should perform about the same. I've never ridden a straight axle outlaw but if your going to get one definitely aim for the 525. The motors require a lot of maintenance but the performance is worth it. I will say that owning some of these more unique machines can make sourcing parts a bit more difficult, especially if your looking for aftermarket

I've heard nothing but good things about Flexx bars. I only rode the Outlaw for about 5 minutes so it was hard to really get a sense of how much they affected the smoothness of the ride. @PeteHager
4 жыл бұрын
The KTM was super nimble and easy to ride. The seating position was awesome and it was very fast off the line. With the stock gearing I would win most drag races up to about 70 mph. Raptors would tend to walk away from me after that. The Raptor is definitely a bit more sluggish in comparison but it's super comfortable and a blast to ride all day. The KTM requires a lot of maintenance and unfortunately the engines don't last very long even with constant oil changes
