Horror movies often become comical in later sequels, like Army of Darkness. It is done on purpose, most of the time.

Evil Dead was comical since the first film though. Evil Dead didn't become a comedy, it was always a comedy. Evil Dead was literally meant to be a parody of B-horror. Army of Darkness just continued the vibe.

The intro sequence is a recreation of the show Gravity Falls, one of Doug's favorite modern Disney shows. This is quite fitting as the star of this film Jason Ritter is also the star of that show as well which is what the joke at 9:50 pokes fun of.

"I'm safe I never have dreams..." Haven't seen nightmare on elm Street, but I have a hard time believing that'd save you

I think the dreams make it a crap ton easier, but aren't strictly required

He was a child in a summer camp when he fucking _drowned_ due to neglectful camp counselors having sex instead of watching the kids (Jason was thrown into the lake by other kids who were bullying him for being mentally slow and having facial deformities). That's why Jason murders teenagers getting it on.

Jason’s basically an intelligent zombie which is why stuff like getting set on fire doesn’t bother him.

Basically when camp Crystal lake was thriving one day the counselors weren’t watching the kids and jason while was attending allegedly drowned the first Friday the 13th (in the original canon the reboot condenses this) isn’t actually even about him SPOILER IF YOUR SERIOUS ABOUT THIS SORT OF THING the killer in that film is actually his mother! Killing counselors to take revenge on the camp for her lost son jason doesn’t show up til the end where he takes over villain duties for the rest of the franchise actually leads to a tense moment in the first scream film if you haven’t seen those either

- This is still a better VS movie than Batman vs Superman - Opening is a parody of Gravity Falls. Also where Dipper's notebook reference came from - The movie did get a sequel in a form of a comic. Freddy vs Jason vs Ash. Ash being the protagonist of the Evil Dead series. - Zack Snyder did 300

Here are something about the Friday the 13th franchise: before Jason was the mascot of the films the first one actually had his mother be the killer. Jason didn’t appear until the sequels. Interesting fact the actors who played the mom was offered a role in Freddy versus Jason, but declined because she thought it was too silly. Now she kind of regrets not being in it. The sixth film Jason Takes Manhattan doesn’t really take place in Manhattan. A lot of film red tape got in the way, and they only show little bits of it in the third act at the end. Depending on who you ask, the franchise declined after the fifth or sixth movie.

@@theduckgoesmoo There are plenty of places that conduct sleep studies for scientific or medical reasons. And during those studies, they have noted and recorded that once people entered the REM level of sleeping, there eyes will sometimes shift rapidly...hence the name of the state of sleep being called Rapid Eye Movement. Another good way to describe it is picture if you've ever seen a cat or a dog dreaming when they sleep to the point they will twitch and move sometimes, basically people do the same thing when they sleep...though maybe not to the same extreme.

Once I want to see someone in a Freddy Krueger dream use dream logic to fight back... Seriously anytime I'm worried in a dream Guns appear in every drawer.

The kicker for Dream Warriors is Freddy tricked Nancy and then the same kids in The Dream Master. Though the trick with each of the Nightmare movies is being able to drag dream items into the real world. Like they do for "Freddy's Dead".

Take a shot every time he says "I haven't seen". 💀

I highly recommend Christmas Story when it gets to that time of the year. Childhood defining and has one of the most cathartic scenes I can think of.

Duck sees t*ts for the first time... "Where can I watch this movie?" lol Just about ever Friday the 13th movie has "booby" traps in it.

The intro was the intro to Gravity Falls. One of the most popular animated shows for over a decade now. To this day it’s still in IMDb’s top fifty among the likes of Avatar and Attack on Titan. Since they went over your head, I should point out Critic made several jokes referencing the show. His joke mentioning Grunckle Stan refers to the great uncle of the twin protagonists Dipper and Mabel. The “joke book” is one of the diaries that the show revolves around for the first season. Can’t explain too much cause otherwise it will be huge spoiler territory.

Also Jason Ritter, one of the main characters in this movie, is the voice of Dipper.

Fun fact: The killer girl from "The Ring" also is the voice Lilo from "Lilo and Stitch". Also you need to watch more movies lol.

Honestly Kyle's catchphrase should just be "I've never seen". Etch it on this man's tombstone, please.

"Freddy vs Jason" was my introduction to Slasher Movies. Maybe it's not a best one, but i still like it. Also Jason became my Favorite Slasher-Villain since then. But to be fair, he has sympathetic backstory. The only other Slasher-Villain with sympathetic backstory that i know is Candyman from "Candyman", who just like Freddy Krueger, he needs people to belive in him to survive.

Jason Vorheez's story is... slightly complicated. You should watch the original Friday the 13th to understand how he came to be.

It's funnly frustrating in hilarious way how we got a more info on what you didn't watch.

The whole "Snyder and Bay" joke at the end. I personally prefer Zack Snyder over Michael Bay. Because while they do have some similarities, the biggest takeaway for me is Snyder actually is passionate about what he makes; even if it doesn't turn out well due to his passion being misplaced or studio tampering, his passion is still there. Whereas Michael Bay *_CAN_* make a good movie if he wants to, but he often chooses not to because he's more interested in just indulging his immature teenage brain with blowing shit up.

Snyder's also far more humble. Snyder can make fun of himself and has done so on multiple occasions while Bay tries to act like people just don't understand him or something. Snyder also treats people he works with well (Even criminally mistreated VFX artists have noted Snyder as one of the few directors who shows them respect), while Bay has been compared to a fascist in how he treats people. Plus, given Snyder's gone through the worst pain anyone can ever experience (Losing a child), I honestly don't care what he makes. Dude lost his daughter and the internet and industry fucked him over so much in the aftermath of that that frankly he deserves to make whatever the hell he wants. The fact that he has the willpower to keep going is a miracle.

By this point it would be easyer to make a List of Movies Duck HAS SEEN. I aint no Expert with Horror Monsters. I always Mix up the guys with Masks. This guy with a Hockey Mask is somehow immortal (even though in his first movie they proofed that nothing supernatural was going on). He is supposed to be scared of Water, becouse that is how he died. Meanwhile a guy with a Person mask is also immortal and only wants to kill one woman. And kills everyone who stands in the way.

If you can track em down, I'd definitely recommend watching the original Nightmare on Elm street movies in your spare time. They're absolutely Schlock, but it's the fun kind of Schlock and Freddy's thing 'If he kills you in your dream you die for real' leads to some INCREDIBLY creative ways he can kill you, since he's killing you in your dreams where anything is possible. :) I'm not gonna suggest reacting to them because well... Full on movies... But at least give them a watch if you can find a box set or something and you have the time to spare. :)

Not sure if you'd be interested in reacting to this but since you say you don't dream I'd think you would like "The first guy to ever dream" by Ryan George, it has one of the most accurate depictions of dreams I've ever seen in media.

Yes Jason takes manhatten is a thing, but isn't what you think, its simply jasom goes to manhatten. I do think it's the worst Friday the 13th movie, but eh, I still enjoyed it. Anyway, this move is great, super flawed, but I don't care, its fun.
