I was yesterday years old when I found out that "turtle club" quote was a meme to begin with. Even crazier, I found out they started filming the movie only TWO WEEKS after 9/11. The turtle scene was the first scene shot, and they had a group prayer planned that day for the victims and their families. Dana Carvey apparently couldn't manage to get that the prosthetic turtle suit and makeup off in time for the prayer, so he had to join the prayer with all that sh*t still on. He looked exactly like he did in the scene. While everyone else was normal with normal clothes. A group of normal people and a single bald, weird upper lip man in a giant turtle suit holding hands, heads down, and solemnly praying for victims of 9/11. That mental image is easily funnier than anything else this movie has or will ever produce.

i feel it´s almost tragic that the funniest thing to think about regarding this movie, regarding this scene, is that 9/11 can be related to it.

I worked at a movie theater when this came out. We HATED the ending, because audiences are inclined to stay for the credits if there's something to see, even for a POS like this. We just wanted to sweep up and be done with it, but this movie made everyone linger. I even did the math; the movie is 80 minutes TOTAL and the credits go for 15 minutes, showing whatever half baked crap they could to pad out the runtime. That means there's only 65 minutes of actual produced content in this film. It's barely longer than an episode of SCANDAL. And they filmed 20 plus episodes a season! Telltale sign of a bad movie is when it doesn't even reach 90 minutes. You should be ASHAMED if that happens!

I mean, plenty of Disney animated films go under 90 minutes. Hell, Batman Mask of the Phantasm is under 90 minutes.

So there was a rumor that the Turtle scene was filmed on 9/11. This turned out to not be true. The scene was filmed two or three weeks afterward. However, they did observe a moment of silence before filming, while Dana Carvey was in the turtle costume...

About the Mike Nelson thing, He was a host on a show called "Mystery Science Theater 3000," where he and two robots would riff on bad schlock films from way back. And I mean REAL BAD. Also, I recommend The Ghost Rider review. If only to sample the tiny snippet of Spiderbait's cover of Ghost Riders in the Sky. That soundtrack kicked so much ass, you could call it Bruce Lee. Or even the first actual NC episode after his return, "Odd Life of Timothy Green." Like, good grief did he choose a stinker of a film to return with.

The reason this movie exists is before youtubers it was hard to find people dressing up and making weird noises. Now that's a whole Genre of videos...

5:54 I miss 2013 Nostalgia Critic, because this part was pretty funny. Rachel was just ready to put that needle in NC. 😅

I always thought "Master of Disguise" was gonna be like a victorian, sherlock, "Catch Me If You Can" kinda movie... until I watched it... I miss my innocence

the worst thing is that at 29 years old i still wind up quoting this movie it has been burned into my brain since childhood

Something you need to understand about that comment. Mike Nelson: "The third worst comedy I have seen" Mike Nelson has seen a LOT of movies, and most of them really bad. He was in a show for many years called MST3K where they watched and commented over some of the most hilariously bad movies you have ever seen. Mike has seen it all. So for him to say this was that bad should mean something.

Turtles are reptiles, not amphibians, btw.

I'm not gonna lie growing up this is one of my childhood movies. I regret nothing.

Just looked up the guy who said this was the third worst comedy. On his list, #2 was Junior, a film about a pregnant Arnold Schwarzenegger that tried to play it straight. #1 was Little Nicky, which had Adam Sandler as the son of the Devil. Shockingly I don't think Doug's reviewed that last one!

What’s sad is that there’s a good idea buried in this. Drop the last name, make it a super hero thing. Super mask powers can work (the mask was good, even if the show wasn’t big and the sequel was…unspeakably bad). Like Blank Check, it’s a good idea buried in tons of shit

For a bit of context: Mike Nelson has worked on such shows as Mystery Science Theater 3000 and Rifftrax, which basically means he has spent the last 30 years or so making a career of watching bad movies. So if he says this is the 3rd worst comedy he's ever seen, then not only is it bad, it is impressively bad. You should check out Doug's reviews of either Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2014, The Smurfs, or Alone In The Dark

I will admit that this Underrated Movie is a Guilty Pleasure for Mine, Yes is a Random Mess but it’s not as Bad as other say, plus this Review was Fantastic and Hilarious, especially when NC went mad with the Little Wiener and Tiny Nut Joke.

I am one of the few people that actually enjoyed Master of Disguise. I genuinely loved it. It was one of my favorite movies when I was younger. I still love it and I will die on that hill.

I’m just going to say it: I loved this movie growing up! I had a little VHS TV in my room and this was the movie I watched more than any other I had. No matter what, I’ll always have a soft spot for it!

One of the best scenes showing how bad it is was during a scene where he is in a boat. He is in this little boat in a pond and he is dressed up as the captain from JAWS. While he is talking the JAWS suspense music is slowly building and building and building until it gets to its peak…..and then just stops with nothing happening and the scene just keeps going. Like there is no payoff once so ever

One of my friends in middle school loved this movie and quoted it daily. I never understood why back then, and I have even less of a clue now.

The journey of the Fart Joke is the greatest adventure story ever told.

It's very fortunate that I didn't buy the disc back then.

Regardless of everything else about this movie, I still believe it has the best use of a fart gag.

As bad as this film is, my brothers somehow like this movie, they were actually upset when Netflix removed it.

Honestly, I didn't think the movie was that bad when I was a kid. I didn't think it was great, but didn't mind it.

I'm kinda shocked you took so long to react to this one; this is *infamously* awful; and Dougs line about reviewing a bad comedy sticks in my brain every time I see one.

Saw the movie, kind of liked it. It's not a great movie, but it isn't ashamed of being shlocky and clearly manages to enjoy itself. ...I've come to realize how important that is.

The Adam Sandler formula is incel protagonist getting a dream girl by being the nice guy/not-like-the-other-guys, while throwing in as many homophobic, transphobic, misogynistic, and racist ‘jokes/caricatures’ in as he can fit. And I wish i was joking, but you can literally check them off one by one in every damn Happy Madison movie

Next one you do from Nostalgic critic you do, you should do his review of ‘Kung Pow: Enter the Fist’

This movie is just no. Critic did at least something to make it more enjoyable. You can easily see why Rachel and Tamara are both great in being the Crazy Lady. For next reaction I am requesting either Doug's "The Review Must Go On", or Critic's review of "The Review Must Go On".
