My First Classic Car! 1964 Chevy Impala Station Wagon! Complete Suspension Rebuild Disc Brakes!

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

I bought this car in 1999 at a local estate sale where it had been abandoned in a backyard for 20 plus years. The 327 was locked up so this was my FIRST revival as a 14 year old punk! In the last video of this car we resealed the engine and found some issues we resolved at that time. But when I drove it I noticed a violent shake in the front end and some worn out bushings. Also, the brakes need some work and it's never rode quite as well as I'd hoped with the air ride so lets tackle that as well! This car is NOT FOR SALE! Well, I mean, if someone gave me $327,300 for it in cold hard cash I'd probably let it go... Maybe... As always, thanks for watching!

Big old American station wagons are really getting popular again. This is one of the top 10 car KZread channels so everyone needs to subscribe to keep it strong. In the 1960s when we were young and doing lots of duck hunting, we had a 1958 Ford V8 auto trans wagon, raised up on all four wheels. We put on wider 15" wheels and big mud-n-snow tires to get down muddy roads. It was our hunting/fishing wagon. I like "run it for a summer."

Nothing lifts the spirit quite like Mortske Monday and especially Duff Dog doing Zoomies in the snow! Also enjoying the Professor Mortske minute detailing history of elements contained in the episode. I would paint the wheels of Sixtyfo the body color and put on period correct full wheel hubcaps and one inch whitewalls. The body of the wagon deserves the spotlight. I tried asking my mechanic about replacing the bushings in my ’77 Buick LeSabre control arms, and he just shook his head and said, no…you’re getting new ones. Now I know why. Nice to see a good picture of Duff in the thumbnail…Love the Duff!

When I added hydroboost to my Scout II I struggled getting the rod length correct for the master cylinder. These rods are the non adjustable type and you simply cut/grind to fit. But on the ole Amazonia I found "Brake Booster Adjustment Tool " which will basically measures the rod protrusion and the master cylinder depth to get you where you need to be. IIRC you leave about 1/8" inch gap to prevent brake drag when everything is up to temp. Worked like a champ!

That bearing greaser is the coolest damn thing I've seen in a long time. It's so simple and it works really good... I spent quite a bit of time in 64 Chevys when I was younger. When I was 13 (1974) my dad and mom had a 64 Chevy Impala SS that had really low miles and it was like new. It was red on red and I remember dad telling me it had a 300/327. It was an automatic with the console. When I was 16 they bought another 64 SS Impala but this one was an odd ball. This one too had low miles and they bought it from the original owner that special ordered it. It was white with a silver blue painted top and it had white interior. This one had a 6 cylinder and a 3 on the tree but it still had buckets and a factory console. Those cars had so many cool details. 64's were my dad's favorites but I really like the 63's ... I wish I would have kept my first car. It was a 69 Chevelle SS396. Factory 4 speed with a 4.11 posi 12 bolt. I bought it when I was 15 (1976)

Hey Mortske, just a small tech tip of the day, try turning your bearings with the large side down in the greaser. Makes it a little easier to put the grease in. With that machine it may not make any difference, but the old hand push type it does. Those control arm bushings are a pain! I might have been able to give a few tips, but other than the tool, they are rough, and I never had the tool. Not even the dealerships I worked in had the tool. Enjoyed watching your shenanigans as always.

Straightening the exhaust pipe outlets while leaving the rear valance looking like a motocross track. It's like going to the store for one beer and six bags of pretzels. Question of priorities, I suppose.💥 Ya gotta love the way Mortske thinks.

Always game for wagon videos, long live the longroofs, great you've had it fir so long. Owned ours since 89 drove it to MN in 99, and drove around when Back to the 50s weekend was going, on ours being a 67 was to new for that show so we went to the Car Craft shows till we moved back to Alaska in 2013. Coin toss on rim choice, I'd say red steelies with poverty caps. Great vid sir. Will be ordering wagon shirt if still in stock here shortly, blew this months budget on your buddies wagon shirt .... they seem to go quick.

Duffs got a MAJOR case of the zoomies LMAO... The part the really cracked me up was when he was tail draggin his radish through the hoovershneef by the 56. As far as the wheels for the wagon, there's only one choice, Torq Thrusts... They would totally change the looks of the car.

That is the exact kind of car that my parents, brothers and I made all our road trips in. They had an air conditioner put in it. It sat on the hump in the middle of the floor under the dash,it didn't do much for us riding in the back. Ty for jogging up a good memory.

First I started thinking...this must be a Puddin thing..., then when you gave us the back story and history of the wagon, it must be a Mortske thing, moreover, having been born in the 50's, 55 and 57's are my all time favorites, after seeing this video, old Chevy wagons are winning me over. I will be looking forward to you two getting back together this summer. Nice upgrades and decent shape for a 60 year old car. Side note: I would love to see Sparks Motors or Deboss Garage end up with the Checkered Aerobus. I can see it as a giant monster limo or it sitting on tank tracks.

Six-Four Impala *cut to scene of loud stereo and hydraulics suspension* 😎 Though im glad you didn't install a hydraulic jumping bean suspension....or the tiny wire wheels. Unless you REALLY wanted to. 😅 She's lookin good! 👍 Good job, Mort! Duff has the best workout routine.....run like the wind, then jump into a snowbank to cool off😂😂

Just one whammy to get those balljoints loose! Magic! With our hundreds of years old European roads, I really need to change them every 4 years, and it’s a wrestling match every time. One of the points vehicles are legally checked on over here. Thanks for the excellent footage, makes my day 60% of the time, every time!

Nice wagon Mortzke, it’s funny when you’re a young guy getting into cars and you scrimp and pinch every penny for a set of “cool” wheels and when your cruising there is no better feeling, knowing you have one bad ass machine !!! My first car was a 72 Nova it was a rusted out pile but it was mine . You never forget your firsts . Cheers 🇨🇦
