Today in the shop we got to work on the Wheelie Fierro that LS George wrecked a few years ago. Luckily, even after sitting for years, it appears our Big Block is still good to rip!

Considering how tail heavy that car is, strapping it down was probably necessary.

I remember as a young'n having a book about engine swaps. My favorite was a Corvair engine into an Isetta. They mentioned, "It was similar to having put a Saturn V booster rocket into the remaining Corvair body!" They also featured a Toronado 425 cid engine and drive train put in the back of a porche. They concealed the engine with a cover that looked like a pile of suitcases in the back.

While you were spinning it over with the plugs out, I was hiding from my phone waiting for the fire. My dad and I went to fire up the race car, stuck float, fuel pump filled the cylinders, fixed the carb, took plugs out, turned the ignition off, spun the engine to remove 110, found a spark from starter, flexplate, etc and created the biggest fireball and fire IN the shop, thank God for high ceilings and fire extinguishers. Haha. Never even burned a wire, washed it up, put it back together, and away we went.

This video has it all , suspense, expectations ,discoveries ,, let downs ,humor ,perseverance and ultimately success ! This was more entertaining than unboxing hooking up and testing the latest monster crate motor on a dyno for the new 1/4 mile monster . Was also an activity we all played out back in the day with parked on the side of the house rusting away American muscle when they were cheap and ready for the scrap heap condition mechanically and visually ! Can we get it running ? maybe street racing it this weekend ? Memories like rust spit into my eyes from that unplugged cylinder cranking it over to clear out the good stuff.
Cleet doing the freaked out shuffle when he noticed it was in gear 😂😂😂😂
I'd have never thought it would run. After running upside down and then spending 1/3 of a decade in the Florida rain with every possible entry port on the engine open, when it fired, I was like "Okay okay okay"... Lacquer thinner, my boys, lacquer thinner. Gives you that extra pop to get past the rust lines on the cylinders, softens any old rubber that's harden w/ age & generally acts like compression in a can. The 2nd necessity: have Sam give you a lesson on how to static time an engine. You already are past the hard part, stickin' yer finger in the hole; just make sure the spark plug wire isn't close when you do. (Modern ignitions have a bit more of a sting than an old oil filled coil.)
