Just a little insight into my HONEST thoughts and feelings towards my favourite primes lenses for the Fujifilm system, not all are Fuji lenses but they are lenses I can recommend after years of use as a professional weddings events and commercial photographer.
This isn't meant as a lens review, but i'm asked a lot for my thoughts on a lot of lenses so i figured id do this video to see if it helps. If you are in the market for a new lens and purchase one via these links, it really helps me out so thank you in advance for that! email me for info on the 'Kase filters' WR kit for the Fujifilm X100V

16mm F1.4 is definitely sharp wide open, sharper than the 35 but not quite up to the 50 F2. Stays sharp at minimum focus too, only minor drawback is some ca at wider apertures and high contrast.

You should defo try the 16mm 1.4 Gareth. I brought a used one from Carmarthen Cameras around a year ago based on some of the positive reviews it received, but was not sure if I would use that much as my favourite lens is still my Fuji 35mm 1.4 which just works for me. Would never sell that lens. I have to say the 16mm 1.4 is amazing. To my surprise I am finding this on my xpro more and more often. Its not the most versatile focal length for my type of photography, but with some imaginationI have had many images am really happy with. Tack sharp at every aperture and focuses really close. Another Fuji I will never sell .

Use the 23f2 for urban landscape and street. A great lens. No problem with soft focus at f2 as long as you're more than 1 meter from the subject...not an issue on the street.

My favorite ILC Fuji primes are the 16mm f/1.4 and the 50mm f/2. Those rounds out my kit nicely on each side of the X100V, which has my absolute favorite Fuji prime lens. In my old Canon-days, my favorite prime lens was the fantastic 135mm f/2L. Some of my most favorite pre-Fuji pictures was made with that lens. I tried the Fuji 90mm f/2, but it didn’t give me the same goosebumps. Most likely because I had grown from that focal length in the meantime. I like to see it that way :D. It was kind of an easy lens to get wow-results from, even if you aren’t that great photographer :-P Nowadays the 16mm f/1.4 plays the role as my webcam lens. It’s fantastic and, together with Eterna, it gives me a lot of wows during video conferences at work :-D

That was good 👍🏻👍🏻 I love the small form factor of my f2 "Fujicrons" and the 50mm f2 has to be one of the sharpest lenses I have ever used, but there is something special about the 16mm and 23mm f1.4 lenses. I recently picked up the 35mm f1.4 to see if all the comments on image quality were justified. It chatters non-stop and hunts constantly for focus, but the images are nothing short of magical. It is now permanently attached to my X Pro 2, a perfect combination.

They should make a 33mm f1.2. I can't use the 35mm f1.4 because I use an old camera it focuses slow on. And I prefer 45 to 50mm rather than the tighter 53mm from the 35mm. Otherwise my fingers are crossed for the Sigma 30mm f1.4 and 56. I love the 50mm f2, but f1.4 at 56 would be great, plus its pretty compact. Not interested in the Viltrox lenses as they don't play well with my Fuji and have too much CA. Even the 50mm f2 has more CA than I would like, the 23mm had far too much so I upgraded to the 27mm. Nobody else seems as picky as me with CA so I should look into filters that may help.

@@kevrosas1 No, that is not the case. There is only one version of the 35 f2. It was initially made in Japan and then they transferred production to a Fujifilm factory in the Philippines. You would think Fuji would get their quality control sorted there is no excuse for one of their lens to be soft at a given aperture and another to be super sharp no one buys a lens to have a soft image. Personally, if it happens to me I will return and replace it until I get one that is.
