He didn't do anything to the shop, at least not in the anime, and only ripped the Blue-Eyes "so it wouldn't be used against him". Still, very brutal and unnecessary. Also, there's the bullying to Joey, though it could be since he was a former bully and Kaiba forgives no one.

Mokuba is so underappreciated. He must be everywhere at once in the dueling tournament. Like wow, the multitasking!

I hate how he simps over his brother. Kaiba literally harmed an old man, betrayed his company's executives, and refused to provide medical attention during the tournament...and Mokuba still treats Kaiba like he's Leon from Pokémon. In the manga, he even straight up tortured Mokuba, and Mokuba just forgives him? I still have a grudge against my jackass brother for saying absolutely nothing to me and mooching off of the steak dinner my parents took me out for when I graduated highschool in 2020, but Mokuba straight up is put through SAW by his own brother and sees how far his brother will go to to get what he wants...and is still "Wait to go, big brother!" and "You're still no match for my big brother!".

I like how when designing the augmented reality children's card game he wanted to make you fear death when your life points went down so he added shock cables to the Duel disk so you felt pain and incorporated knockback into the system so when you get hit you can get yeeted as well.

Fun fact: Dark Side of Dimensions isn't based on the anime, and unlike the 4Kids dub, in no version of the manga did Kaiba ever deny that Egypt magic exists. He just also didn't give a f. He was gonna win a children's card game. There was no proof other than him proving his skill as a duelist for him. Hence why DSoD Kaiba just casually made tech that directly counters ancient Egypt magic ran directly on a fuel source of his limitless ego, which as the abridged notes, probably has reached planetary scale by this stage.

This episode was literally an example of him showing how much he cares. Then there's him infiltrating an island tournament before this just to save him.

The Japanese sub is sooooo much more dramatic. Dub: Kaiba Calmly: “I summon Obelisk the Tormentor”. Sub: “SSSSSSUUUUUMMMMMOOONNNUUU OBERISKUUUUUUUUUU!!!!!!!”

Dude that's a pretty good deal for that guy. Kaiba gives him a ton of rare cards to test his deck. Dude loses to Kaiba yet only loses "1" card in his deck. That's some pretty good profit.

Here is why Kaiba didn't break the rules: 1. You can normal summon ANY monster without tribute, beside you are playing with "Advanced Rules", which were introduced later in the series and then became the foundation of the real life game (OCG/TCG). 2. Egyptian Gods have different effects in the anime/manga from the real life game. They don't have a Summoning Condition. Tributing 3 monsters came from the fact that in the anime/manga you needed 3 monster to summon a lvl 10 monster in a duel with advanced rules. PS: I can recommend the Yu-Gi-Oh! manga which is the source material for the anime and card game. Takahashi had initially other ideas regarding the game. It was the anime and later Konami that established the known game rules in OCG/TCG.

so heres what we know: You piss off Kaiba he duels you and leaves you a stuttering mess You piss off Atem, he will tear you to shreds with a monster endlessly regardless of if the duel is over You piss off Marik...he kills you

I like the idea of a multimillionaire CEO just prowling the dark alleys of his own tournament just to beat the crap out of bullies. Kaiba is basically the YGO version of Batman. Lucky for them, their fates are decided in a children's card game. Aside from the occasional soul being obliterated, they mostly walk away just fine.

Of course, 4Kids wanted to drill in the fact that the Shadow Realm, their fantasy suffering dimension that somehow is better than death, is real so they had this dude be Kaiba's old self that was sent to the Shadow Realm before Pegasus brought him back.

To be fair, apparently, that was Kaiba's "evil side" that did that. After Yami mind crushed him, he actually expelled the evil out of him and that evil Kaiba would be brought back later in the Duelist Kingdom arc thanks to Pegasus

That or Kaiba did screw the rules. xD

DakariKingMykan He still wouldn't have been able to win in one move. If he was the first to go, obelisk wouldn't have been able to attack and would have been sent straight back to the graveyard after the end of his turn due to its special ability. If he had gone second, presumably his opponent would have summoned a monster onto his field, and obelisk wouldn't have enough attack points to wipe out that monster AND the rest of the guy's life points. #NerdOutMoment

zubhanwc3 It's Possible with The Nekroz Deck. Lucky I was using Hieratic Dragons which allowed me to Summon Hieratic Sun Dragon combined with Blue Eyes White Dragon and Hieratic Sun Dragon allowed me to clear the field by tributing other Hieratic Dragons which means Level Eight Normal Monsters are Special Summoned though their attack becomes 0 which still means XYZ Monsters which means another Hieratic Sun Dragon for a direct hit at my opponents life points. BTW I almost lost as all my Monsters either needs a Tribute to Summon or another Hieratic Dragon to special summon and Mirror Force gave me the breathing time I need. Nekroz Decks are a pain because they have effects that activate in the hand such as Negating an attack, Drawing extra cards, Reducing your 3000 plus attack to 0 and Giving and Attack boost of 1000 and negating the effects of Monsters summoned from the extra deck and let's not forget banishing your cards in your graveyard.

So what? Look at all the times YuGi does it. Most notably in the Movie when he does it twice. Once in the opening simulation...yeah he activated Obelisk's infinite strength ability on Kaiba's turn. (cheat) And the second time when facing Anubis he activates "double spell" (?????) if you look at his hand he's holding only two cards: "Exchange" and "Diffusion Wave Motion". And when he activates "double spell" exchange vanishes from his hand...unless Anubis was holding "Monster Reborn" in his hand YuGi was really unable to reborn the Blue Eyes Shining Dragon and thus couldn't destroy the Pyramid of Light and thus couldn't bring back the Egyptian Gods. Considering these I think Kaiba can get a free pass just this once.

This was an actual duel. They just skipped most of it to show off obelisk. The duel was probably no more than 3mins anyway

I HATE It when so many idiots (even little kuriboh thought this) don't understand this scene at all and though that kaiba screwed the rules and summoned obelisk on the 1st turn. He did NOT! The scene only showed the moment kaiba summoned obelisk. It wasn't mean to show the entire time span of the duel.

Decade yea people need to understand that kaiba is like the 3rd best duelist after yugi and atem. This is barring villians like dartz etc. The guy he dueled was fodder and only meant to show off obelisk. The way kaiba had his deck stacked for battle city was unbeatable barring pis from yugi. He could literally summon obelisk in about 3-4 or quicker; using his xyz tank components or a flute of summoning dragon + quick play card to quickly summon 3 blue eyes to sacrifice for obelisk. All of this is easily 1-2, maybe 3 turns.

+Decade So the Japanese version had a full blown (if short) duel, and the dub cut almost all of it?

+Josh B No. There was never a full duel scene of this. It was an insignificant duel with kaiba dueling a nobody, so all they did was show how it ended with kaiba destroying him with obelisk. The problem is, so many people took this scene too literally and thought that kaiba actually drew and played obelisk on the very first turn.

Decade We get a glimpse of how kaiba could've fodderized that guy tho. Remember what kaiba did in the first duel against lumis and umbra? He summoned 5 monsters in 1 turn.
