Crime obviously exists in Canada, but it's still way different than other places. My mom once left her house/car keys in the front door and didn't realize until the next morning about 12 hours later, and they were still sitting in the deadbolt lock untouched. Where else on Earth could you do that and not end up murdered/raped/everything stolen?

@@Sursion There'll always be examples to cite on both sides. We keep our home safe and secure with two shepherd/rotties and a Dutch shepherd. But we still lock our doors at night. Our once-cozy and quiet little town in Niagara is now a refuge to homeless vagrants and crackheads due in part to economics, unemployment, the housing costs and the skyrocketing cost of living. And its happening everywhere in Canada.

My family goes extended periods of time without locking the door because we lost the keys. The only time the door is locked is during night time, when everyone is inside. Otherwise it's always unlocked. To us, that's perfectly normal. But I'm sure that's completely insane to most.

All that Hammer could do is state 'that soldeir survived'.... Not that he fully recovered... only that he lived... humilliating! Have to hand it to Garry Shandling, Senator Stern's actor; he absolutely nails the performance of "infuriating congressman." Like, he felt all too real and I grit my teeth every time he interrupted people and tried to steer the conversation in his favor, and hearing him curse at Tony was the icing on the cake. Makes the reveal he's a part of H.Y.D.R.A. in Winter Soldier even better.

I agree with the slimy politicians thing...but if you follow the entire MCU, there was another piece to this: SPOILER WARNING: Hydra. Sen. Stern was part of Hydra trying to get Stark Tech.

this scene is just extremely underrated and an absolute GREAT testament of RDJ's superiority in portraying as Tony Stark. His mannerism here is just straight out of the comics. Simply the greatest, and im sad to think that one day there will be a rebooted Tony Stark in the MCU and its gonna a different feel for all fans :(

the genius way of introducing Cheadle as Rhodey should be noted for Majors' replacement as Kang in the future.

Let's take a moment here to appreciate the - Natural acting by all the cast. It felt like a real court scene and not acting. The interruptions, drinking water, instructions, awkward silences, they are real. Only a film maker would understand.

My favorite part of this scene is that after Cap 2: Winter Soldier, we know this was actually a ruse for Hydra to steal Stark's Iron Man suit but in the end, Tony just walked circles around Sen. Stern. I love that there's a deeper, darker implication of this scene.

There is too little overlapping dialogues. It suffers from the same problem almost all moves do; that people do shut up when other people are about to talk. There are a few exceptions here and they are good, but it's not enough because the dramaturgy comes first. Anything that is important is very clear on the audio, which is not at all the case in a real court case - the exact point is to stop the important points getting across.

I genuinely don't understand how anyone could see this as a good line. Just... no. Why is it a good thing that it's private?? The whole point of a government is so people can have power over things that involve everyone. Like world peace. The idea that one man decides something that affects everyone is terrifying and absolutely immoral. In the case of Iron man, sure, it's a guy people trust with this. I'm not saying I side with the politicians (that he shouldn't have such power and it should be given to the government) because in this case Tony is a legitimately good person who isn't corrupt at all. So in this case, yes, he technically does privatize world peace and it's a good thing. But usually hearing someone "privatized world peace" should be a loud alarm for everyone that something is horribly wrong. Why does everyone start cheering immediately when he says that. Why is it instant? Reasonable people would go "wait what that's horrifying when you put it that way. I know this is Stark, but don't phrase it that way." not instantly cheer at the mere idea of world peace being private. Like WHAT. Is it just American belief that anything private is way better than anything public? This line, and specifically the audience's reaction to it, is absolutely capitalist propaganda. The idea of world peace being in the hands of companies being a good thing because "of course everything is better when it's in the hands of companies" is absolutely stupid. I feel like glorifying the fact that it's private is just trying to convince people who don't think much that everything is better private. This is seriously messed up.

3:24 I remember seeing this in theaters and having my mind blown that the idea of being able to put phone images, let alone video was possible and thought to myself as a kid that’ll never be around, at least in my life time. Only a few short years later we’d have the ability to stream just as if not easier

that was actually the same dude mentioned in Dr. Strange where medically speaking he was paralyzed and had an impossible way of recovering but by the mystic arts and magic he actually was able to function and even play basketball at that.

The test pilot is in Dr. Strange at full health, he was the guy Dr. Strange went to see playing basketball then directed Dr. Strange to go to Kamar-Taj in Kathmandu to find The Ancient One.

Because tony had an arc reactor the suit that he made in cave can be made easily by these industries but to power them is the biggest problem and that's where arc reactor works well

You KNOW Tony Starks won when someone says F U in court haha. The fact that it isn't money, but extremely high intellect that asserts power is just amazing and makes Tony Tony. Because he was so smart in also keeping his property, it never fell into the hands of Hydra since that Senator is later revealed to belong to that grp. I will say that is what makes him better than his father. His father was smart, but Tony is extremely clever.

This whole scene is a masterpiece. The camerawork, dialogs, characters. Looks like a documentary. Simply stunning.

The visual joke of having Rhodey walk up facing away from the camera with the dialogue "Hey buddy, I didn't expect to see you here." "It's me, I'm here, let's move on." to reveal that the actor is Don Cheadle instead of Terence Howard is so so soooooo good. Favreau did a great job.

Imagine some multi billionaire dude owned a new intercontinental ballistic weapon that literally no one else had all to himself. Then he was like "Hey, this shit could start, fight, and win wars with incredible ease. But I ain't about that, I use it for good™, trust me." Notice how dangerous and bad that sounds when I put it like that? That is his point. All of this just because Hammer wants a piece of the incredibly lucrative pie that is the super weapons market.
