What I loved about Exodia is that he was the ultimate monster in the first 3 episodes, but then completely dropped for the God Cards and left to us in the real world with a really cool concept of getting all the cards of this mysterious and powerful monster that was only used once, and it was the most epic thing to see destroying all 3 blue eyes. Then never comes back. Sure the rare Hunter had it but it wasn't as memorable compared to the others because it was an episode dedicated to counter that card.

To be fair, they give Exodia a good send off here, with the ancient arts that sealed away the monsters, even the god cards were confined to one stone tablet, wheras Exodia's might is so great, not only does it require 5 tablets to properly seal it, but whoever unseals it is basically guaranteed to die soon after. It's a beast that the gods probably could never hold a candle too, the only reason Exodia even loses here is because Shimon was one, old, and two, a single human controlling a monster that can barely be controlled in the first place.

Not only because they were the most powerful monsters in existence but also because there was a reason why only the Pharoah could summon them and wield their power. Exodia was sealed in five separate tablets not because one couldn't contain him, but to basically prevent him from ever potentially going rogue. The Gods were loyal servants of the Pharoah, Exodia was just a really powerful monster, who could potentially become unhinged on a given day.

"Defender of Egypt" Does not necessarily mean "Defender of Egypt and its people" so while he might not go "rogue" he would do anything to defend Egypt. Just imagine: A pharaoh does something that threatens the existance of Egypt. Exodia, being the defender of Egypt, goes and kills the Pharaoh. To prevent this, they sealed him away.

Well it would be horribly boring to see a duel end the same way every time. I mean technically even the God Cards wouldn't be able to stop Exodia's instant win ability.

Could you imagine if yugi was able to get his hands on all 5 Exodia cards again and shocks everyone when he summons it in his duel with Atem in the finale? The first duel of the series and the last duel both ended with Exodia.

Oh shit!!! I think you're onto something. Actually now that I think about it. The way the final duel should've ended should've been something like Atem resummons the three Egyptian Gods after they were destroyed by Yugi. And after a few intense pauses of awe and amazement by everyone in the crowd. Yugi does a heart of the card draw that allows him to assemble all 5 pieces of Exodia. And basically Yugi destroys all three Egyptian God cards with Exodia!!!

It's moments like these that awakened the child in me. First time I saw this again after all those years all I could see is a young Kaiba terrified of how it was summoned. Then there's the Egyptian Gods vs Zorc. It's the nostalgia craze that hits harder than most.

They seriously cut out the parts where Exodia rips off Zorc's arm and Zorc rips off Exodia's arm? Like really? It didn't even show blood when it happened, they just ripped each others arms off.......

@@Kira1Lawliet But you have to understand it's not 4Kids who made that decision, it's the FCC with their rules and laws that has a final say in what can and can't be allowed on air. So 4Kids were trying to avoid getting sued or their shows cancelled by the FCC. So they were being extra careful at the time because apparently they were already in hot water for basically stealing the rights to Yu-Gi-Oh from Tokyo which later ended up bankrupting them. I don't remember the specifics about that one though.

So basically exodia couldnt beat him because he got his power only from yugi s weak grandpa

The Real Zorc is an Auto win too u just need 10 dark monsters on your graveyard than u can summon him with 10k atk + 1k per dark monster on your frield hand or graveyard u cant remove zorc and u cant cancel the summon and if u remove 1 dark monster from your hand u can destroy all cards on your enemyfield.

Z.N. attack and def are equal to the combined life point of each player. Z.N. So broken like this?

Shimon losing even with Exodia was foreshadowed at the beginning of the series when Solomon lost his duel with Kaiba. He had Exodia in his Deck.

I still can’t believe that freak show Zorc defeated the Egyptian Gods all by his lonesome

In the manga, this was the only fight against Zorc. Zorc vs the gods was filler. Manga Exodia vaporizes Zorc's entire army as well, but still gets cut in half at the end.

Droid Destroyer yes you can use hand destruction if there are only up to four parts in your oponent,s hand but even so if your oponent has exodios the ultimate forbidden lord on the field you are srewed because he has to to only on atack and the efect from exodia activates out the graveyard

This was a powerful moment in the yugioh fandom. Exodia was the end all be all and to watch him fall was pretty hard to see

Yep same i have all my cards to this day they're still special to me.And yeah apparently Yugi his friends and Kaiba are coming back in Yugioh the Darkside of Dimensions movie.It was out in Japan as far as i know in America and the Uk its not meant till be out till early 2017 i think they haven't really confirmed a date yet

In theory, Exodia is the most powerful creature ever created. In this fight, we see he was able to go toe to toe with Zorc, however Exodia's weakness is its limited power supply as he is only using the power of a single life whereas Zorc was being powered by the darkness which means it came down to an infinite power supply trumping a limited power supply.

I love that grandpa is shimon and grandpa had Exodia in his deck

Don't worry heroes I am still here. Batman is here. And his power is also infinite.

What bullshit is this? Exodia did worse than even blue eyes white dragon vs zorc ? How weak is yugi's grandfather? No wonder he lost to kaiba in the first episode

+codyz93 anything that's done for the good side can be represented by "light" , therefore exodia might have light with him but this scene makes exodia look so bad that blue eyes white dragon with a head butt took down zorc when exodia' attack didn't phase him at all it's just the plot though..

Yeah it's strange but remember to a summoned monster is based on its users life force. Shamon was old so I doubt he had much energy to give Exodia.

Here's a few things. In this battle,if you remember, blue eyes white dragon did better than both exodia and the gods. Second, exodia was powered by a frail man. If exodia had been powered by the Pharoah the outcome would have been different. According to Marik, the Pharoah energy is boundless. Meaning exodia would have done much much better if exodia source of strength came from the Pharoah. Or maybe not. The pharaoh didn't know his name yet

The music and pacing are so much better here than in the Japanese original imo. Every time we've seen Exodia up to this point, he was invincible... yet the Japanese version made the odd choice of immediately showing them cutting each others arms off. So Exodia went from being invincible to an equal. Take a guess what will happen next? No suspense at all.

Still invincible tho. He could recover from any injuries incl. the final cut which ended him. The problem however was that Exodia's power after getting sealed was limited to the old grandpa. Zorc who drew power from the concept of darkness, lost an arm just by Exodia who was powered by a single grandpa.

This moment was so hype.

I love how they say “great defender of Egypt” and they lock his ass up

I feel like blue eyes ultimate dragon and exodia should of teamed up to battle zorc

This arc went hard it's definitely underatted in the yugioh mythology

That Exodia theme is played only twice, the first time when its summoned to beat Kaiba and here against Zorc, so epic.

Funny how the god cards in the anime are infinite attack, all-powerful. Actual game the God cards are meh but Exodia is an instant win. In the anime Exodia loses. Just weird.

That music, holy shit it just gets me going. I used to get so pumped up over this show when I was a kid. Such great memories. Who remembers those first iconic words from Yugi, "Exodia! OBLITERATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" :]
