Bro, I see that it's better to buy quality Hardbacks or really good Vinil editions, especially if the Bible is needed for active ministry and study. I've bought only one premium Bible from TBS, and I really displeased with that... Is that pigskin? Windsor. Overviews, the photos on their site and their promises are awesome, but reality... :( Just have waisted money and feelings to be deceived. Woshy-gray paper and gray text print, the whole execution of the Bible is just washy. No wish to use it, it's simply hard to read, unpleasant paper, print, terrible so cold "calfskin" cover, hmm, is that just rough pigskin? Have never seen so terrible leather (I don't live in Western countries; we have here really good genuine products). Spoilted, earlier they made really good premium Bibles by Jongbloed, but now... However I satisfied with some excellent Hardbacks. By the way, it's not easy to find very good hardback/vinil Bibles. Capitalism.

Thank you! The Cambridge Large Print is excellent. That dark font is hard to beat and I love the overall size.

I agree with the readability of the Heritage. I was hesitant to buy it because of the 9.25 pt font, I usually need an 11-12, but I can read it fairly comfortably because of all the empty space around the text.

Lifeway had a sale around Christmas of 2021 and my favorite was the CSB large print reference bible in Brown goatskin, 10$. Yep, now for a beater bible, that was a near steal .

Thanks Randy for the quick overview. So many great Bibles coming out! I’m still on the fence about the Maclaren vs the Premier Verse-by-Verse center column from Nelson for the pulpit. I think it’s a toss up on the paper for me. The Maclaren would be a better layout in the pulpit but the paper of the Premier Collection is so nice. Do you prefer the Westminster or Maclaren layout for KJV?

Thanks Mike! I prefer the Westminster layout for easy usability. It's hard to choose between the Maclaren and Center-Column. Both are excellent Bibles.

Hello Randy. We must have very similar taste. I wrote in a notebook a list of Bibles to choose from, and half of them are listed here. I wish Skuyler still carried the very pebble grainy leather. I find very grainy texture to be the most beautiful visually and to the touch, consistent, durable and resistant to scratches and stains. If you or anyone reading this comment can recommend Bibles that have that kind of leather, I’d appreciate that. The versions, details and features inside may vary a lot but I can try and get as close to 10+ fonts in single paragraph or double if the font is easy to read (Canterbury and Treveris are good examples.) I have looked at Allan, Crossway, Skuyler and Cambridge. By the way, I did get the Cambridge family chronicles Bible for the library and family. It is fantastic, and I might purchase the non-leather ones currently on sale for Christmas gifts; that is right friend and family, you need to read this book-it is life changing. Lol! Randy. This is the first time I didn't see one Bible I wanted! Thanks for saving me $$$. I'm hoping your next "favorites" review will perhaps contain one large print, verse by verse, red letter? Or is that only my preference? I know you prefer single column, black letter, with notes/references at the bottom of the page. And I have heard you mention that your vision isn't quite what it used to be, but imagine you are in your 70's. What Bible would you choose then? :)

If I had added one more, it would have been the Thomas Nelson KJV Large Print, red-letter, vbv, in genuine leather with red page edges.

My favorite will always be the Cambridge Turquoise goatskin blue kjv.

Oh, that's a tough one! Those are probably the best options for both translations. It really comes down to references vs margin space. I think I'd lean toward margin space if I'm not using the references. I'd go with the ESV.

Brother Warren, don't be misled: ESV is a Catholic translation, a per-version of the Bible! They simply have taken Catholic RSV (1952; do you remember a "young woman" instead of "virgin" in Isaiah 7:14? A blasphemy) and cleansed a bit the more wildly translated wrong places, to get inside your homes and faith with their corrupted teachings...

We only need the Bible, that based on the Textus Receptus and Septuagint (III century BC), not Hebrew Masoretic text* of the Old Testament, made in X century AD... * It's even written in the Alphabet, that has never being known to Moses, king David, Isaiah, Daniel and to all other prophets!

And about the NKJV... They have forgotten to warn you about HUGE number of perverts in the text of the NKJV. Especially its footnotes are danger for common reader (especially for women, through treir naivety > 1Timothy 2:14). Many of those notes are taken from the Critical text, a perversion made in 1881.

Only one example of "truthfulness" of the NKJV: The NKJV is based upon the same heretical work of Westcott and Hort as are all other modern perversions of God's Word. The NKJV is dangerous, because it perverts the Word of God. For example: The NKJV publishers changed "narrow is the way" in Matthew 7:14 to "difficult is the way." There is nothing "difficult" about the salvation offered to us through Jesus Christ! Jesus said in Matthew 11:30, "For my yoke is EASY, and my burden is light." Jesus stated THE EXACT OPPOSITE of what the NKJV claims. It talks about a contradiction! Salvation is not difficult. Anyone can be saved simply by coming to Jesus Christ as a guilty sinner, believing on Him to wash away our sins by His own precious blood (1st Peter 1:18,19).

I LIKE MACLAREN . I HAVE IN SEVERAL COVERS.

Hi. My personal favorite is the KJV. It's what I grew up with and what I'm the most used to.

NEW Thomas Nelson's advertising of their new lines of premium Bibles: "Words of Christ in black for a reading experience that is easy on your eyes throughout Scripture. The black text, improving readability". AT LAST... They did say that! Remember brethren: Red Letters - AGAINST Word of God...

Lots of good bibles. I love reading from my Clarion ESV. But if I could find a bible that was NKJV, black letter and verse by verse, that would be the one to replace my old Thompson chain. I don't think it exists though because the number one requirement? Not made in China!

Brother, actually you need only one good regular Bible. And sometimes compact Bible/NT edition. And maybe extra one good special Bible for deep studies (especially for brothers), but not so called Study Bible. Bro, didn't you notice: premium Bibles simply spoil Christians. All the time they think and meditate about the leather and art-gild of their Bibles, but not about the very Word of God.

I have a notable respect for the 1982 NEW KING JAMES. ✝️ It also find the 2004 HOLMAN CHRISTIAN STANDARD to be good. It is not overly gender inclusive. Also, whenever JESUS, an apostle, or the devil quotes from the OT, it is placed in bold faced type. And we have the indication of what they are quoting.✝️
