    Nice collection I backed HD DVD at the time 😕 I realised while watching this vid that I've never watched a HD DVD in full 1090p. At the time I had a 720p HD Ready Hitachi Plasma. I've been thinking about building a HD DVD collection lately. Would be really nice to see the films in there full resolution glory

    By the way I bought an LG Super Blu Player Model BH200! It plays both blu-ray & HD-DVD! I bought it before the Blu-ray format won. So I have about 50 HD-DVD's in my collection! I have about a half dozen of them combo disc's!

    Nice Collection You have there. I have all 480 Pal UK releases and the Toshiba HD-EP35 this Is the top of the Range player. You should look out for a copy of "Unleashed" (Jet Li) this Is the only format that has the Huge 5.1 Sound (Depending on your system) I guess you have the DVD and Blu-Ray copy's of this. So pull them out and check the Audio, and both will be 2 channels. Also Star Trek first Season Box set, and The Matrix box set as well. Thanks for Sharing.

    @David Mander Hi David. There were Two machines at war with each other at the time. These were the Toshiba HD-E1 and the Toshiba HD-XE1 These were the European versions of the one I have. Mine Is the UK Pal version of these. Here In the UK It was between the Toshiba HD-EP35 and the Toshiba HD-EP35ke. So We both own the top of the range Machines from both Regions.

    Oh yeah,and the more absurd stuff was to dissapear disc recorders,obtuse manufacturers,Netflix can´t have all the programs in the world that you would like to watch often and to remember after their live transmission, physical formats shouldn´t fade away,streaming is not always possible to connect,committing the same mistakes what happened with Betamax.

    Oftentimes while watching a movie on my HD DVD Player, the movie will just stop mid-sentence and I have to forward to the next scene. That doesn’t always work either. Do you think the issue is with my HD DVD Player or with the HD DVD Disc I am watching? Also, do you have any experience with the HD DVD add-on Player that attaches to a Xbox 360 console?

  • @thierrydelage1681

    @thierrydelage1681

    That's first signs of disc rot. It starts with random freezing during the movie or during layer changes, then some chapters start to be completely unplayable (usually towards the end of the movies) and eventually the disc will end up not loading at all (that can take a few years or be very quick depending upon storage conditions)... A good trick to know is that when a disc starts to rot, the color of the reading side of the disc shifts from silver to light gold (easy way to compare is to put side by side a non-rotting universal or paramount disc and a warner disc, if the color is more goldish on the warner disc, then you should better be ready to face problems with it at some point)

    All warner titles pressed between 2006 and 2008 will end up with rot, sooner or later, it's just a matter of time. Back in 2010 when people started to complain massively about it, warner admitted themsleves that problem caused by the faulty resin they used to coat the discs at that time and started a worldwide exchange program to swap the faulty discs for their bluray counterparts. Out of the 286 warner hd-dvd titles i own and that were bought in various parts of the world (US, UK, Spain, Italy, France, Australia...), only a dozen of them still work after 15 years ☹️

    @@thierrydelage1681 that's not true. Only the titles produced in the Cineram plant in Olyphant, Pennsylvania. Warner had two other manufacturing sites, one in Toronto, Canada, and another one in Mexico somewhere. The fault can be traced back to a couple of machines In the Olyphant plant operating at that time. I thought exactly the same, that I would avoid WB discs. I originally bought 300 that didn't work, but recently I've been picking up the odd WB disc. To my surprise, all my recent WB pickups work just fine. There is a way to identify if the disk was manufactured in this plant. On the see through plastic ring on the middle of the disc, stamped very small, there will be an identification mark that reads 01FF. If your WB discs have this stamp then they were made in the Olyphant plant.
