I think your take on this rig hits the mark for me, and after watching many, you've sold me on the Q2. There are a few videos out there complaining about a few things, but for me it's the whole package and the cons/pitfalls mean so little, especially if one knows their camera really really well. I really liked the beginning with music and the pictures, you did a great job of your experiences using the camera under different conditions, and the functionality of the Q2. Pros and cons.

I recently got the Q2 Monochrome and already love it and I’m still learning the camera. The images are very much like the TriX film. I would swear your color images are film too. That look along with the direct usability of the Q2 makes these wonderful cameras. My M10 makes the Q2 feel light. The quality is apparent the moment you pick it up and it creates a more thoughtful shooting mindset…like when shooting film.

The Q2 reignited my love of photography. Minimalist and stellar quality. I do still stick to Canons for fast work, but this camera slows me down to be intentional.

You take charming and mean photos mate, Cool ! As a viewer I really got the love you have for the Q2, but you have also gone into its poss negative for other users, which is really useful. For a future video subject I’d be interested in following an image, (raw & standard), straight out of camera through whatever post adjustments you do. Great talking about the q2, enjoyed it much. I also have sentimental feelings about this camera. I took so many family photo with it, perfect for this subject. What do you use next to your q2? Maybe for portrait work, longer lenses?

My all times favourite camera

Firmware 4.0 has highlight biassed exposure which ensures that it exposes for the brightest light in the image. This can result in shadows being really dark but they can easily be raised in post. I suggest that everyone should upgrade their firmware to version 4.0

bought my Q2 yesterday, while the shop was charging the battery I went for a walk, came upon a street protest so dug out the X-pro 2 I swear this camera is gorgeous made some decent frames a the protest vid is on my chan if interested, anyway I picked up the Q2 it feels great looks the part I shot a few street pix without much thought first impressions at iso 3200 the noise is shocking. I'll be hammering the Q2 plenty imho it's got big X-pro2 and X100f boots to fill. Liked and subbed mate cheers

Great review thanks. Makes me want to pull the trigger on one! I had a Leica M for a while and miss the simplicity of the shooting process. While I love my x-pro3 the menus & buttons more often than not get in the way.

Luis, I enjoyed your video - informative, interesting and well worth watching. I’ve been thinking of possibly buying a Leica camera. However, I am slightly concerned that I would find a ‘fixed lens’ restrictive. Do you find it so, or do you have multiple camera bodies?

Not yet! I use the Archetype Process Lightroom profiles as a base on some of my photos.

LIM's makes a great half-case/grip - I bought one for my Q2Mono and never take it off. It also has an ARCA-Swiss base built in.

Thanks Daniel! I use profiles from the archetype process for some of my images but some are with my own presets. :)

Love my Q2 on pair with Sl2-s, the only one thing I really miss especially on sunny bright days is an eyecap.

Nice update and congratulations on your new baby! You inspired me to get the Q2 earlier this year to photo our granddaughter and the video quality is also excellent but slow AF in the video as she moves around alot. Have you also used your Q2 for video and if so, what settings do you recommend?

I have a Q myself (Still dont think its worth the upgrade as i’ll never need more than 24MP). Video is nice but its completely automatic, in the sun it will make the aperture smaller and in low light it will make it completely open. Rather good lowlight performance, or better than canon 80D, which is my older camera. Autofocus isnt the best but does the job most of the time. Most of the time I use manual focus when filming, with the focus peaking you get really good results, the manual focus is insanely good to use!

I had a Leica QP which I thoroughly enjoyed. Having sold it recently I have surely missed it. How is Q2 different from QP …apart from resolution etc.? I am an enthusiast and don’t earn from same so will Q2 still qualify as a big upgrade over a used QP? Thanks

Speaking of which: what is the gorgeous music I'm hearing toward the beginning of the vid? Is that you? Also, I have a simple (and I hope not offensive) suggestion about the photos: I'm pretty light sensitive, and I felt that the bright white "matting" detracted somewhat from the work. I'm not suggesting black, either; I love a nice, soft green as a background, almost a washed-out chartreuse. No offense, eh? Thanks again.

I’ve had so much more trouble exposing my Q than my xpro2. The Fuji has so many useful features that help me nail my shots and I find myself wishing the Leica had them. That being said… I’m keeping it😂

to switch modes e.g. P to S you need to touch the screen then use one of the wheels to change mode. Is it a way to avoid touching the rear screen and assign a a custom button that by pressing that button the camera go into mode -MODE

Nice video. The "real" price in EUR never changed for the Q2. I think the changing price in USD has more to do with the worth of the currency compared to EUR.

Great question! I totally forgot to talk about the autofocus when filming but to me, the autofocus while not as great as Sonys or canons, it’s pretty good and the only time I notice it being worse is when it’s fast moving subjects while shooting at like 1.7 when it’s harder to mail focus.

This camera has a full frame 42 megapixel sensor so if you are zooming in or cropping a lot, you’ll see a big difference.

Hey, did you end up getting the Q2? Or are you still waiting… curious what decision you made as I am in the same boat regarding the SL2 and SL3.

I had one but found my Fuji X-3 Pro is as good a camera if not better, much more well designed and costs 1/3 less than the Leica.

Great video. X100V is shit. I bought it with so much hope and it's an absolute disappointment. Main thing being the autofocus. For a $1500 camera, it's absolute shite. I don't understand why Sony is the only manufacturer that gets it right.

Your camera is missing a really good lens - Jupiter-3! An expensive and inconvenient tool - that's the whole review. But if you want to draw attention to yourself, do something extra-extraordinary. Put Jupiter-3 on the camera, and you will get more views on the channel!

Luis - I have one complaint about the Q2 that is not often mentioned. The RAW DNGs out of the camera are uncompressed and are approximately 80Mb! This means you can blow though a smaller memory card very quickly. In addition, if one keeps every shot it can use up a significant amount of memory. I don't know why Leica did this but their M10 shots compressed RAW and file sizes are on the order of 24Mb. Although the "MACRO" setting on the lens is nice it is not a true Macro lens in that it does not go to 1:1. Overall I really like the Q2 as a walking around camera. Finally, I ran into a gentleman at a guided tour of a historic sight here in Seattle that had two of them - the monochrome version and the regular version.

hi,so what would be the best option for this,just a big memory card ? I thought you can chose for just jpg (obviously being aware of the differences you get from DNG) and they'd be smaller files,also I heard someone saying you'd need a fast computer while transferring all those huge files.
