    The reason you don't go to failure on every set is because progressive overload is better for gaining muscle than failing on every set. Progressive overload means only failing on higher weights on your last set. for example failing on ur sixth rep of bench press. It's the most optimal way to build muscle for natural lifters. Bodybuilders who are on loads of gear can do higher reps on lower weight and get better growth but it doesn't work like this for nattys. In your beginner gains phase you can pretty much do anything in the gym as long as you train to fissure and have good nutrition and build muscle, but you won't be able to get bigger if you keep training like this. Hope this helps and faze the fuck up :)

    Esketit Pump is this what u mean? Lets say that I benchpress 3 sets: 1st set: 70kg 10-12 reps 2nd set: 70kg 10-12 reps 3rd set: 65kg 6-8 reps Is this the right thing to do? My first and second sets are me pushing to failure since I can only do 10-12 reps on 70kg, or does ”pushing to failure” mean that I lower the weights even more to push out 12+ reps each set? I’m really confused, hope you understand my question and what I mean (I’m swedish)

    Counting reps is pretty important if you’re trying to get bigger. To get bigger you need to implement progressive overload & be in a caloric surplus (in most cases), one easy way of implementing it is upping the weight/number of reps each week/month as programmes are split into phases. ‘Shocking the muscles’ isn’t a thing, however giving them reason to continue to grow is. Don’t focus on changing weights and exercises to shock them, focus on progressive overload with consistency.

    @@brockfogle5181 Sorry if I read your comment wrong but Teeqo is just lifting until he can't anymore which is not good. You could get hurt lifting like that by tearing a muscle worse than a normal tear for building muscle. Not saying he will but the chance is higher, also What Arnold did was the whole shock the muscle and you can find him talk about it in the Arnold blueprint on youtube. Which I am not sure if it was a real thing or not I have never heard anyone say it wasn't a thing other than the top guy here. I have worked out and had things feel easier when I did normal lifting and tried the whole shock the muscle thing and it felt harder but that could also be the whole placebo effect though so I can't say for certain it's real dunno

    the point of counting your reps is that for certain goals you need to train within certain rep ranges, hypertrophy (bodybuilding) work is usually done within the rep ranges of 6-12 reps, if you go over or under the exercise won't cater to your personal needs. Therefore, counting your reps helps you decide on if the weight is too heavy or too light for the goals you are trying to reach.

  • @rhiys

    @rhiys

    5 жыл бұрын

    I don't count either. Just go until you can't lift anymore. Once you reach the body shape, and physique you desire, simply stop. No need to over do it, or count reps. Whether you count or not, you always do what your muscles are capable of.

  • @averybenjamins7953

    @averybenjamins7953

    5 жыл бұрын

    That’s not true. Bodybuilding like 99% of the time is rep ranges from 8+. If you feel better and see more results at 20+ reps then do that lol.

  • @featzkbai

    @featzkbai

    5 жыл бұрын

    Ryzzs you should always go until you can’t lift anymore (unless you are deloading, have very strict RPE programming or have an injury), I’m not saying you shouldn’t. What I am saying is that the amount of reps you do “until you can’t lift anymore” should lie within the rep ranges of the goal you are trying to reach. Logging your workouts is essential for progress. Most people that go until they can’t lift anymore pick a way too light weight and do way too many reps. Therefore you are not providing your body the right stimulus it needs to reach your desired goal.

  • @rhiys

    @rhiys

    5 жыл бұрын

    @@featzkbai I understand that. But your rep range is determined by how much you can lift/amount of reps before fatigue. So 'lifting until you can't lift anymore' counters the rep count, since like you said, your lift fatigue should only kick in once you're reaching your rep goal. In conclusion, you lift until you can't lift anymore, and that's where you should lay your rep limit. As you grow, your physical endurance will extend, thus will your rep count. So technically, either way is efficient. I just find counting boring.

  • @featzkbai

    @featzkbai

    5 жыл бұрын

    BillNyeTheTSGuy I said “usually done” Also, 20+ reps actually trains muscle endurance so if your goal is to gain mass that is the wrong rep range to be training at

I’ve been eating all the healthy carbs, eating a lot of protein, eating a lot of fruits and vegetables. Because of this I feel better now. I really hope nobody who watched this actually listened to any of his advice. He’s basking in his newbie gains like he’s just discovered something new. Not to mention that style of training light/medium weight and going to failure all the time is stupid and will get you hurt potentially. As a new person to the gym, literally anything you do will build muscle to a degree. Regardless of training style. However this way of going about it is a great way of plateauing quickly once newbie gains stop coming

  • @samdavies8426

    eddynelly1717 thaaaank you. So many people are misinformed by these types of videos, thinking that shocking the muscles and training to failure is good for muscle growth. Give it another month or two and he’s going to plateau hard unless he starts incorporating progressive overload training.
