"Something" was ICONIC. It was everywhere around 2014-2015, so many idols covered the dance especially at concerts and variety shows. I believe the group did have to alter the choreography a bit for some broadcast performances. Girl's Day definitely did better with the more mature sexy look. Yes the general public of Korea does tend to be more conservative but in the Kpop market, the sexy, mature girl groups were pretty popular in the early 2010s. So you have groups like After School, Girls Day, AOA, Miss A, 4minute, Sistar who did well with the more sensual mature woman vibes. The sexy groups started to die off a bit around 2014/15ish in favor of the cuter innocent groups so around that time is when you see an abundance of bright youthful looking groups like Twice, Gfriend, Oh My Girl, Lovelyz etc. Then Girl Crush became big in around 2017. Anyways, back to Girls Day. Other good songs from them are Darling, I'll be yours, and Female President

Yes, this is the comment that I was looking for. When I started in kpop, I noticed that something that characterized the 2nd generation was the mature sexy concept like the groups you mentioned

Girls Day are really underrated, Minah is an amazing vocalist which isn't really apparent from these songs but it's probably what they're best known for generally. Oh My God in particular is... quite the first impression XD I don't think it was super popular cuz it was one of their earliest songs but Nothing Lasts Forever is a great vocal showcase for the group.

You have to react to SPICA, in my opinion they have the best vocal line in the history of k-pop. Like, the sub-vocalist and the main rapper know how to do a good high note. Musics (“you don’t love me” “ secret time” and “ tonight”) are my favorites.

Girl's Day debuted in 2010 with 5 members. A few months after debut members Jisun and Jiin left in order to pursue personal interests and were replaced wirh Yura and Hyeri. In 2012, shortly after the release of "Oh! My God", member Jihae left for personal reasons. This left the group as 4 members, Minah, Sojin, Yura and Hyeri.

Here to recommend "Boys Day", the male performance of "Something" by select male idols, it is legendary. Also recommend "I'll be yours", maybe "Ring ma bell", and definitely "Female President". Great reaction! P.S. The dance for something was both risqué and iconic back in those days.

Gotta spam for my girls After School for the next throwback! Especially “bang” “flashback” and “first love”. Absolutely no one did “sexy” like them. You’ll see why 😂

I'm a Girl's Day Fan, thank you for reacting to them. I must say that Minah has a unique voice in kpop. Also... Yes, one member left the group, but originally there were 5, 2 members left and they put in another 2, being 5 again and that's when Jihae left the group, being definitely 4 members: Minah (Original Member) Sojin (Original member) Hyeri and Yura. Something and EXPECTATION are Iconic songs from Kpop as well as their dances. In fact Girl's Day is a good vocal group. I hope you can react to more songs of them.

There are a lot of groups with the sexy concept before (EXID, girls day, AOA, BEG, Sistar and etc), it's just that groups today go with the girl crush concept and cute concepts.

Something was their biggest hit! They struggle alot during their time but Something was the song that put Girls Day in the radar. All of them do actings too, Hyeri the girl in the bob cut at something is in Reply 1988! One of the best kdrama 🥺

my favorite is definitely 'I'll be yours' Minah's vocals wig SNATCHED

Minah, the main vocal is a fantastic vocalist! She participated in 'Duet Song Festival' and her performance is simply gorgeous! One of my favourite in the show!

I forget if you’ve reacted to Ailee yet. She’s a solo artist who I think is been around for quite a while. Her vocals are legendary! As her newest song from last year, Room Shaker, is dope af.

Around that time, mature/sexy concepts were really popular in kpop, songs like Something and Miniskirt (AOA) became such big hits that it was almost impossible to watch a variety show in 2014 and not hear at least one of them.

It's really weird that Koreans would find the part of pulling the dress over exposing more leg when in reality, Koreans don't have a problem with showing bare legs and more of a problem with showing to much skin on the upper body. Look at the high wasted but short(shorts) a lot of the female idols wear showing nearly all leg.

So perfect that you started with “OMG” and ended with “something”. Polar opposites but it perfectly shows their evolution from super cutesy/comedic to GROWN women. Minah is a total powerhouse too! Commonly ranked up their with Taeyeon as far as best belters during 3rd gen.

Something was a massive hit and propelled Girls Day into extreme fame- they had already built traction with their previous songs but this song was really popular.

About Something being too spicy, yeah a good portion of the choreo was censored like the entire break dance in the begining were they were in the floor, but that didn't got in the way to the song and choreo and clothes being the most iconic of that year!

Girls' Day or also known as "KPOP'S HITMAKER"

They have iconic songs like something and Ring my bell... Everyone who is into Kpop knows the choreos and songs of these two songs.

I'M SO HAPPY you reacted to them! They're my ultimate girl group and I was wondering if you would enjoy their music! If you're interested in hearing more from them, I definitely recommend Female President next (the M/V is lowkey wlw baiting and the sole reason I became obsessed with them in the first place haha), as well as I'll Be Yours (their last comeback, the EP has also amazing B-sides) and for another "ridiculous" M/V, Twinkle Twinkle (older and more cutesy song like OMG). They have so many more but these three are definitely worth checking. As for the main vocalist, Minah, she has some good solo stuff like I Am a Woman Too (which comes with an EP), Truth (solo B-side from Everyday #5 EP), 11° and Butterfly. She's done some OSTs and covers on her KZread channel (her cover of Honey by Kehlani is quite iconic imo, it's definitely not a professional take on it haha) but sadly not much more. Girl's Day are mostly focused on their acting careers now. They parted with their old company back in 2019 but are still close to each other! They celebrated their 10 years anniversary last year. Thank you again for giving them your time! ☺

Minah is the one whom you were commenting on having the powerful voice and she has some solo songs out too, my particular fave being "11 degrees". Expectation and Female President helped them rose their popularity but Something became their ground breaking hit, they became more popular, and from then on they released bops after bops. And yes, they were originally a five member group but two members left in 2010. Then two members added (which are part of the current members). Then one member left in 2012 leaving them a four member group which consists of Sojin (Leader, Lead Vocalist), Minah (Main Vocalist), Yura (Main Rapper, Lead Dancer, Vocalist, Visual), and Hyeri (Main Dancer, Lead Rapper, Vocalist, Maknae). They are currently on hiatus now and are busy with their personal schedules. All four of them are actresses now as well.

they're one of my favorite groups like, ever. their 2010-2012 stuff is more on the cuter side as you could see (i think nothing lasts forever is the exception), but anything from 2013 to 2017 (they're on hiatus rn) GOD sexy banger after sexy banger. you can really hear their vocals shine in songs like i miss you, i'll be yours, female president and nothing lasts forever (which has minah's iconic long ass high note which is AMAZING live) also not gsd related but i hope you can react to more kara one day too! they've disbanded but they're just SO GOOD and their vocals >>>> and 2pm too! they're having a cb soon after a 5 year military hiatus and they have SO MUCH content and good music / vocals that i feel you'd like a lot, especially since a lot of their influence is 90's rnb!

Yeah, Jihae (the 5th member) left very early in their careers to pursue an education. She was only with them for about a year or so iirc. They actually debuted with 5 member but 3 of them left (you haven't seen the other 2, they left even earlier). And then once they were down to two members (Sojin and Minah), they added Yura and Hyeri to the group.
