I'm an 'Average Brit' but I stopped watching the BBC several years back. They just struck me as having become obsessed with identity politics and to have adopted an anti-citizen democracy ethos. Now (on top of that) they seem to Hate Israel and to swallow & repeat every announcement made by HAMAS. It's amazing for me to remember what a dedicated BBC viewer & listener I was for most of my life.

I am a Catholic, in Australia. And I am shocked and appalled by the events of 7th October. And I’m even more appalled by the vehement antisemitism and pro Hamas support being imposed on Australian liberal values by angry mobs of protest marchers disguised as free Palestine supporters. The truth is, just as we see Israel fighting for its very existence, in military battles, we too are witnessing an assault on our Parliamentary democracy by an unholy alliance of radical Islam and extreme left WOKE movement that now controls all tertiary education in Australia. By reason of faith, Judaism and Christianity are inextricably linked and must face this global threat together, and we will. As a footnote, sadly, Australia does not have a Douglas Murray, or a Jordan Peterson and that is a terrible shame because we will need one.

I am a Brit and my grandfather was in the British army that liberated Belsen. He couldn't speak of what he saw there, only that the stench was overwhelming for miles around. He'd be disgusted at what's happening in his country today.

His books are incredible good reading, the audiobooks are narrated by him also and very good to listen to his voice.

As a brit working in a muslim country I see every day since the attack on isreal ,I can say without doubt the support for Hamas goes much deeper than the media are willing to admit. The UK and parts of europe are lost, They put more support on the streets of England than the number of Troops in the British army. Average British jew here. No longer brainwashed by the BBC, since 2000. I consider myself somewhat reasonable, educated and moderate. I have spoken to a number of fellow indigenous Brits recently and we are outraged by this disregard of our hallowed days and ground. Israel is our spiritual and ancestral land. But expulsions and pogroms have moved our people from pillar to post. We've intermingled with our host nations and have become as they are over many generations. We are as intigrated as any native of the British isles. Yet we are, at times, still treated as the proverbial societal dartboard.

This excellent discussion and some of the marvellous comments below have made me glad that amidst the sheer madness going on against Israel, there are people who see it for what it is and the dangers it all poses for what goodness there is in our imperfect Western society. I’m absolutely devastated and disgusted . I ask you sir, what are YOU going to do about it? Will you sacrifice anything, time, money, effort, care, to help fix this? your British heritage is on the verge of extinction although you're still the vast majority. Problem is you became all individuals to the core, you no longer feel any commitment to the binding heritage. Me first, Me second, Me third - and then... maybe some donation to some charity? Another Aussie here.. I have been watching many of his interviews and he speaks straight to the point. It's truly sad seeing so many angry all the time about everything, sadly this anger is dividing countries that spent decades fighting for our freedoms only to have them slowly changing in the wrong direction. Just let people live their lives without trying to box everyone: left or right or for or against on matters that really doesn't need people to involve themselves. Then many want to attack an opinion on immigration or the wars happening and if it doesn't align with theirs watch out. I like being in the centre like he said.

This is my experience as well; former leftie and Palestine supporter a few years ago. After doing my own research as well as what I've seen with my own eyes, I fully support Israel. Many (especially young people) in Europe are unfortunately misinformed or simply don't know/understand history nor the current situation.

I think the left doesn’t understand that the Muslim religion wants Jews, Christians, and all other religious or non religious people dead. This war isn’t about land. As Douglas recently pointed out to Piers Morgan, the most important people to learn this lesson were the leftist Israelis who were disproportionally slaughtered on Oct. 7. In fact, the right-wing religious towns in the same area were largely untouched, while these leftist, "peace-loving" kibbutzim were decimated. I hope this will unite Israeli society to take a hard line on Iran and its helpers. (Btw, by "Iran", I mean the regime, not the people. It seems that 80% of the Iranian people support Israel.)

It is not as much a test for Israel, rather a test for how the world treats Israel.

My wife and I were in England after Princess Diana died [1997]. We were there a few years after she died...sometime around 1999. We went to speakers corner and could not believe what we were hearing !!! A large group of Muslims [men] were promoting "hate" and putting down of western women with their makeup, freedoms, uncovered heads, etc... This was very disturbing to us ! We asked an English man about this and he said as long as they do not talk badly about the Queen they allowed this terrible rhetoric and really a call to arms !!! England should of coarse corrected then...now look how this infection of radical Islam is growing in the USA !

It's a shame people like Douglas Murray are too smart to run for political office. Because they are the exact type of people we need in political office. People with functional grey matter.

The real question is why does the right know that someone like Murray is too intelligent for public office, but still continue to support democracy? If being governed by your inferiors is the only option the system gives you, it needs to go in the trash bin.

Ok I’m officially in love with Douglas Murray. I love how hard he comes down on bigoted idiots but then in an interview like this he is so empathetic and sensitive. Brilliant across the board. I know my love will remain unrequited, but I will pine away nonetheless.

Always happy to hear Douglas Murray. I am in full support of Israel. People with reason understand this terrible and sad situation. I am certain that Israel will conclude this necessary war against terrorism as humanely as possible. It is my hope that Jews across the globe understand who stands with them against the antisemites and who is participating in the call for their destruction.

I don't like Trump but I completely agree with that sentiment no more Muslims in the United States!! They already have such a high birth rate because the women have no rights essentially so they just pop out baby out every time the man says to do it even in European countries Muslim women will often receive female genital mutilation... I don't want this in our culture. There are plenty of other countries that have Sharia law I don't need America or any other Western Country to have it as well.

I don't think Trump ever said that. He was against unvetted immigration, it happened that countries where it was impossible to get background on immigrants were Islamic countries. I think N. Korea was on that list as well. What Lefties called "Muslim ban" was not Muslim.

I’ve absolutely given up on the UK. I live in the countryside and despite trying to have reasonable discussions I recognize how hopeless it is . There is no reasoning. Blm, trans activists, fat positivity, being offended, hating white men , being kind and if you are not kind in their distorted view you will be vilified and ruined , the hopeless terrified police, the endless hypocrisy and all the politicians genuflecting to a hostile backward ideology in order to get elected. Just so distressing and depressing. Glad i’m older. The thought of inhabiting this place in the next 20 years is too dreadful.

I am from rural Staffordshire. You're right. Common sense has disappeared in the UK. I think it is just about holding on in a few areas, mainly rural communities where the left brainwashing hasn't yet fully arrived. Stand firm. You are not alone.

Now... I think there's a flaw in what you say here. In one way or another, your cooperating with this terrible thing. You may want to give up for yourself (you gave few reasons here - short expected lifespan, futility, resentment and despair) but... What about your responsibility to the FUTURE Britons, that's to inhabit the world? What about the payment of your debt to the ones who raised YOU, invested all they had and could in you, and in giving you the heritage they got from older ones? Even old ones can fight, using what they have. Wisdom, authority, friends who respect them. You can lead, advise, persuade, and.... feel young again? Fighting for a decent cause is one of the most refreshing things a human can do. Good luck!
