Kia ora Jeff. That's the video which made me want to join SAHC. I didn't join until this year, so wasn't in the Caledonia project. we're just a bunch of ordinary people from (I think) 75 countries who love to sing. I'm from Aotearoa (New Zealand). We're trained, rehearsed and supported by Jamie Wright and Tori Longdon, and a fantastic support team, all out of the UK. Here's our latest video. kzread.info/dash/bejne/dmltzKWrpc2yerg.html It's a wonderful place to be and everyone is welcome. We're currently working on some J S Bach. Ngā mihi, Kylee.
I love this love my gorgeous caladonia (scotland)
Makes me want to go home to Scotland everytime I here this my love for my country will burn in me till my last breath so proud to be a jock
Im scottish and this bought tears to my eyes.❤
One of the best love songs ever, and its not even written about a person, but a country! Makes me so proud to be scottish when i hear this

Grew up with my Scottish Granny (Murray Clan/ Highlands) singing this song to us like a lullaby….she always said “No matter where we wind up…we shouldn’t forget where we came from..”🎶🏴 Caledonia =Scotland♥️✨ Thank you for sharing such a beautiful rendition✨
"This is what we hear when we pass on"...that was my EXACT words to my wife this morning when I heard this song for the first time. It's just WOW. Mind blowingly beautiful.

Thanks, for playing this, I'm one of the Stay at Home choir singers and I still tear up when I hear it. We recorded this project during Covid lock downs, so it was very satisfying to sing during the pandemic.

This was also my first project with Stay At Home Choir, in my little thumbnail I'm even wearing the black dress shirt that I was going to wear to my in-person choir concerts that were sadly cancelled. Glad to add a track to this and I'm glad other folks got to hear it. 🙂
Thank you so much for giving Voces8 and Stay At Home Choir your attention. Your comments are so touching. I've been a member of SAHC for the past 4 years. Caledonia with Voces8 was my first project and I've done every project since.I, too, am blown away, as you are ,whenever I hear this video. I can't say enough wonderful words about our founders, Tori Longdon and Jamie Wright.
I remember doing this project with SAHC and it was such an emotional piece to sing, it still gets me! But it was also a joy to record this and be a tiny part of this stunning performance with #Voces8 . What an amazing reaction!! 👏 ❤️🙏
Great reaction to a lovely song. Born and bred in Scotland (that is Caledonia) this song is special to me and moves me. Written by the Scottish mostly folk artist Dougie Maclean. A lot of Scots think this should be the Scottish anthem and not Flower of Scotland. He also wrote / composed the Gael which I believe was bought by a Hollywood studio and was adapted and turned into the theme for the movie Last of the Mohicans. Both of these songs sound great also in their original form sung and played by Dougie
8:13 Ok, there’re a few things I’d like to point out - there were like 4000+ people singing in this, if the video I saw about how Blake put all this together is anything to go by, and the head of the choir mentioned at one point there were like 4300-or-something folks involved, a decent handful of them gave their stories about this song and their roots with it, where they first heard/discovered it, even Dougie Maclean joined in the Zoom chat and explained how it came about, and the things he imagines while he’s playing it. It’s totally heartwarming and adds so much depth after hearing it, I can’t recommend it enough! Jeff, thank you for checking out this song. I had a bit of difficulty choosing which song(s) should be my first coming back to the Patreon, but I realised when I was previously on it that this was one of the songs I was super eager for you to see 🥹💖 Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU!! 💖✨🫂

It was a great honour to work with VOCES8 and Dougie MacLean at SAHC once again.
That is Johnnie, the BASS singer doing the opening intro.
That’s only beautiful 🎶🫶🏻, the best instrument will always be the human voice. Thanks for your emotional reaction 😢, it’s a sign of strength. This music is so powerful, so well arranged, so pure. Best greetings from Westfalia in Germany

Thank you for sharing your reaction to this piece which is very special to so many of us Stay at Home Choir members. This choir was a godsend, a life-saver, during Lockdown and has, thankfully, continued. It was a privilege to be a small part of this beautiful song, and still touches my heart.
Thank you so much! Caledonia was my first piece with the Stay At Home Choir, so it has a very special place in my heart. Tears alway come and I can see I'm not the only one. Thank you for your kind and gentle words.

So touching indeed. The Celtic vocal bends are so heart tugging
Absolutely gets into the soul. Thank you so much. The sound engineering was delicate yet definitive. Soft tears remain in my eyes.
Beautiful stuff. I've witnessed Voces8 doing this live a few times. Always magnificent. For those who don't know, the arranger, Blake Morgan, is the bearded tenor who had a brief solo towards the end of the song.
What is there that the human voice can’t do? And then so many voices coming together… I also loved the way the choir image merged Into the nature one. Beautiful project 💛
Thanks Matt
Song resonates with anyone whos had to leave for better or worse from any country in any situation.. nothing tugs on your heart like home..even when you had to set up home elsewhere to better yourself or whatever the case is.. home always is in the back of your mind.
May the Lord be watching over you Steve whether on this limited dimension or beyond.
10:37 Thanks for saying that man, I always find it hard to bite my tongue, but there’re certain situations where the music needs to speak for itself, and that wins over every time! 🥹💖

Yes Jeff, Voces8 really are quite outstanding, I've been a fan for years. May I recommend their arrangement of Phillip Stopford's Lully.Lulla.Lullay and Paul Smith's Edo lullaby.
I’m in this video :) such a fun project and absolutely magical to sing with Voces8. I’m currently trying to upload my part for Bach’s Komm Jesu Komm. My first SAHC project was the kings singers “and so it goes”.

Ooooh, ‘ello!! 👀
Thank you. Wonderful to hear someone react like I did and do. It just never fails to make me cry, the beauty just slays me. Night after night with my good quality headphones on. Thanks
Another beautiful piece by Voces 8. When I consider the work it took to meld all the video and audio together, i am over whelmed! Blake Morgan arraigned this piece, as well as singing in it. Blake Morgan is the lead tenor as well as doing fantastic arraigning and writing for Voces 8. In this video he appears with long hair and a beard. He is from Michigan, and has been a member of Chanticleer. When it comes to Voces 8, at a rate of two requests a month, it will take a LOOONG time to have you hear them all. Blake Morgan's work will play a big part of the list.

Thank you for the background info . I enjoy learning about the creative process about as much as the creation itself.
Thanks, Jeff. Luscious harmonies. ❤
Thank you for showing this I am Scottish and was deeply moved by this .I can understand why the tempo was slower than normal because of the number of folk involved .
Hi Jeff, I accidentally deleted my comment about how amazing it is that three of your patrons love Voces8, and how I wish all of it were under happier circumstances. I SO much appreciate finding this community of people who love great music irrespective of genre, and I am very grateful that you made this channel for all of us! (I need to start using my computer instead of my phone for writing comments. I’m sorry for the goof up, my friend!) Your friend, Brian
