If you listen real close, the creepy opening melody is present the entire song. Every riff revolves around that melody. The harmonics in the main riff is the whole melody spelled out. Super ingenious, well hidden, but on discovery super obvious. I really dig this song.

Polyphia did their first tours of Japan by joining forces with a Japanese KZread guitar prodigy that had covered their song Aviator, incl the blazing Jason Richardson guest solo. When she was in elementary school. By the time she was 11 she was signed to Sony, her first two albums were all instrumental, she got to join the guys onstage and generally meet the world’s greatest shredders (Guthrie Govan gave her tips in person; she does NAMM Ibanez booth with Kiki Lourero & polyphia, Jason R; jams with bumblefoot, Mateus asato, etc; joint interviews with Marty Friedman; Paul Gilbert contacted her with an open/public video to give her free lessons, etc). For her 15th birthday she released two songs with her new band (guitarist & singer), and got Billy Sheehan & Shane Gaalaas as guest rhythm section. 15 yr old LisaX, One More Chance is Enough, check it out. (Remember to count! And yes,the keyboard slot is up for grabs!) kzread.info/dash/bejne/gq6n08-ndcSeacY.html

Just one of the insane things about this band I don't see too often is that when the bass is focused around the root notes, the guitars are playing a totally different riff based around the 3rd or the 5th of the root note so the entire band is playing 2 or 3 different melodies and somehow playing them all as chords with several different fills all being tied together by the drums that done even play a "safe beast in the pocket" it's really unique and had weird rhythms that work so well for the song.

DGD is my favorite band of all-time so getting to hear Polyphia too was out of this world. The raw drums and how absolutely incredible he is. These guys are insane. THe melody is mostly implicit in the chord progression. They are very on top of it with the guitar parts. And the beat is really tight, with the guitars and bass keeping the accents. Even when the drums are not playing (like in the beginning) the beat is so clear and makes you move your head.

Glad you enjoyed the music like the rest of us... but as a music teacher, I would have expected more analysis on the musicality of this piece... other than generic statements like the guitarist is great and it’s nice to see the passion from musicians.. I don’t know the video just seemed lazy and as an initial reaction of such a masterpiece, you didn’t seem all that impressed/mind blown... which is fine, you’re entitled to your own honest reaction but... I’m sure other people who truly felt this song reacted much more excitedly and was at sheer awe. You didn’t at all scratch the surface; didn’t tell me something I already knew (again as a “music teacher”). Just wanted to share some, hopefully, constructive feedback.

That's... Not what this guy does? I mean, what, are you wanting him to sit there slackjawed and gobsmacked, at a loss for words, overcome with emotion at the sheer scope of the song? Do you want him to dissect the structure of it, piece by piece, breaking down what the musicians were trying to say by using an augmented arpeggio instead of a diminished? Cripesamighty, are all Polyphia fans so up their own arse? It's a reaction video, not a blowjob.

@@soulofash2112 oh here we go another keyboard warrior using his fingers to comment absolute nonsense because he cant play guitar for shit. Here's what you do "mate"... talk to me when you learn how to bend a fuxkin string again.. . Then read my initial comment again, and realize that if you were actually smart, you really shouldnt have said anything at all... okay Soul of Shit?

It's a REACTION not a DISSECTION. I think the song took him by surprise and he was out of TEACHER mode and just turned into a normal bloke being audio-raped by this insane song. Let the man enjoy it... as before, it's a reaction.

@@dr.chip-inski5513 just tired of how pretentious you lot are. Also, wow, racist much? I'm originally from the UK, "mate" is a fairly benign term used to refer to, well, everyone. Also, yeah--can't do string bends right now because nerve and tendon damage to my hands, from when I lived in Darfur. You know, during the genocide? But, rather than continue to engage with you, since it'll go nowhere, I'll leave you to it. Point I was making is this is a reaction video, and there's no reason to be a pretentious git about it, and you've proven my point in spades.
