"The Greatest Show on Earth" is a book written by Richard Dawkins. It is apparently the proof that we evolved from a paramecium. It has nothing at all to do with creation. A side note, in this particular case, the person doing the symphonic part in this song is none other than Richard Dawkins himself quoting a paragraph from the book.

And there's a banjo riff, and after the Metallica part there are even a few techno drum beats. We could also think that history starts already from the tribal drumming in the beginning of the part III. Long time of man's history music was mostly such tribal beats, before what we call high cultures added intruments. High cultures who increased the interest in shiny rocks and giant mushroom clouds. Guess the idle upper class have too much time in their hands when they don't have to toil with the soil to eat: urbanized alienation sprouts its own fruits (unedible but enchanting and addictive).

Tuomas "the keyboard player writes 90% of all Nightwish songs. He sends out tracks and they work together put on the final touches. With the results of the collaboration he then composes the orchestral parts and works with groups like the London Philharmonic to produce the backing sound tracks. Some of the songs like this one are how he is inspired at the time..

There is movie based on their album called "Imaginaerum " . There is also a documentary about how Floor jointed the band right in the middle of their US leg of the world tour. They asked her to join after tensions between the previous (Anette) vocalist and the rest of the band had rissen so high that they fired her. With close to a year still to go to complete the tour, and their next concert planned 2 day later they, needed a replacement fast. They called Floor because she had toured with them when she was part of the support bands"After Forever" and later "Revamp" on several occasions and they were quiet impressed by her vocals (who would not be?). She only had 2 days, including a flight from the Netherlands to the US, to learn the setlist and only had one rehearsal with the band a couple of hours before her first show and nailed it. Since they were making a documentary about the world-tour a lot of what happened was recorded. The documentary is called "Please learn the setlist in 48 hours" (kzread.info/dash/bejne/qJx52s2mh66zdbg.html )

Wove so many elements into it (ironic choice of words considering the subject) including Bach's "Toccata and Fugue in D Minor" and Metallica's "Enter Sandman" riff (which you noticed). Always a shame when a reactor only listens to 80% of the song, and misses the part that is the real 'point' of the whole song (and the album), the summing up of everything that has gone before. But good reaction to the 4/5 of the song you did react to, and Tuomas' composition for that section is beautiful. It's a great song. I'm also always surprised at how many people are surprised by the fireworks being timed to the music as it has a long tradition in classical music going back over 250 years to The Music for the Royal Fireworks (HWV 351) is a suite in D major for wind instruments composed by George Frideric Handel in 1749 under contract of George II of Great Britain for the fireworks in London's Green Park on 27 April 1749. And on a similar vein the 1812 Overture takes it a step further as it is often performed with synchronised cannon firings!

How they write their songs? It goes something like this: Tuomas (the guy on the keyboards) writes most of the lyrics and the music, records a demo, then he comes to the rest of the band and they discuss it, try stuff, others contribute and then they go to record it. :) There are a few notable exceptions, but that's roughly how most of their work is done. This song's lyrics have been co-written by Marco (the bass player and the male vocal). Tuomas wanted to be a marine biologyst and Marco is an astronomy enthusiast - and they come up with a songa bout life, universe and everything. :) Floor also has interest in biology so they really have a lot of science background in their formal and informal talks.

imho this is one of the three best songs (not just songs but pieces of art!) of the nightwish band, together with "ghost love score" live in the 2013 concert in wacken and "the poet and the pendulum" live in the 2015 concert in london wembley arena (possible next reaction?) from the 2013 concert in wacken, I also suggest the songs "song of myself", "storytime" and "ever dream", as always wonderfully sung by Floor Jansen.

You stopped the song before the song ended. Even if you don’t repair your video, listen to the whole thing, right through the credits until the screen fades to black. By not going right to the end, you actually missed the point that that production was meant to make. Do you also leave theatres before the movie is over, just to avoid the rush?

You seemed like you were really into it. You should watch it until the end of the video. your next Nightwish video should be Ghost Love Score or Yours Is A Empty Hope. Good luck with you Channel.

First of all, thank you for the reaction. I liked it. Second, you wondered how they write their songs, if there was a documentary. Yes, there is, it's like 17 episodes, but here is a playlist of all of them. It's a documentary about how they wrote Endless Forms Most Beautiful in 2015: kzread.info/dash/bejne/dHZlq9R6aKndorw.html Also, if you get angry comments about you missing part 5, never mind them. What you missed is one orchestral part while they say thanks to all the fans and one more fireworks display and some spoken word by Richard Dawkins. One can live without that.

18:03 - They have already done that! :-D With the songs of their Imaginaerum album. The movie is called Imaginaerum, too. You should watch it, it is great! :-) The style reminds of Tim Burton, with Nightwish music and with the band members appearing in it). I've never left a comment like this but I feel compelled to this time for some reason. I sometimes get a "vibe" or "impression" from people that I meet, or just observe, whatever. I got the impression that you are a very kind and caring person, interested in other people too ie empathic. I also get the impression that you are stronger than anyone, including yourself, knows. I get the impression that you would stand up against a, just as an example, NFL player if the situation called for it. I don't know what that situation might be, I'm not sure why I'm even writing this all out, but I feel like you could "bully a bully", and I think you will at some point maybe soon. I also think it will turn out well for all involved, thanks to you. I'm sorry if this is weird, I mean I know it is weird, but maybe its necessary I don't know. It will be fine though.

Yeah, pity you missed the most important part, after the music stopped, or maybe even the fact that there was somebody talking in the background. When the boom boom bang bang stopped, it was over for you. This video is a piece of art that contains a message, from beginning to end. This is not a sports event, where the game is over when it's done, and the post game comments are irrelevant. But you will have time to learn that. OH SHIT. We don't have time, which was the message of this whole thing, WE WERE HERE, we were the greatest show on earth, and we blew it. Have a few nice years.

Nice commentary, Ms. Mendoza. I enjoyed your perspective and your reaction to the changes. One minor criticism/suggestion. Please, for your own benefit, watch this to the end of the credits; you haven't heard the whole piece until then. It's all part of the performance.

Oh And yes Floor sang from lyrics from start. She makes it one of her most important things to sing everything so much clear pronouncements as possible so that audience understands what she is singing. React to Tarja erä songs and you hear that in some songs even musucuians can't get clearance what she is singing. Her opera training hindered clarity of Tara's words on stage. Floor is exact opposite.
