The only way to truly appreciate an artist is to listen to all their music, not just one song, so we came up with our "5 By" series where David checks out 5 songs by an artist.
The first artist of our "5 By" series is Linkin Park. On this episode of Cleaning Out The Shed, we go back to 2000. Check out David’s reaction to Linkin Park's "In The End".

Chester has an astonishing voice, so broad, glad you picked up on that, he will be sorely missed.

Choosing just 5 songs is a pretty tall task for Linkin Park honestly, given they pretty much have more than 5 eras of their sound. I would've made sure every song here was from a different album but this is still a pretty good showcase of their sound :)

They're one of those bands where someone else could have a different favourite song to you, and you'll still go "I get it". Great band.
I’ve always felt that Breaking the Habit was their best song.

The First song i heared from them was runaway so it has a very special place in my heart
The fact that you acknowledged that you Paused right before Chester picks it up makes me happy I'm subscribed. Others would not even have cared or even Pause and not rewind back a few seconds. Keep up the good work!
Please, pleeease let the last song be ONE MORE LIGHT!!! And all the things you said at 8:45 will hit you
Hybrid Theory was the first album I ever went out of my way to get. I showed no interest in music as a kid aside from stuff my parents had on the radio but I'll never forget the day as I was hanging out a friend's house as a 10 year old kid & him turning on a boombox and saying "hey man, check this out." From that point on I couldn't get enough of that kind of music and it sent me on a journey of going to concerts, touring with bands selling merchandise on summer breaks in high school which lead me to meet my wife and even to this day the path it set me on keeps going on and on. That album and that band changed the course of my life and I'll forever hold them with the highest esteem.
Man, Mike would love your reaction
Linkin Park has a big influence on Bring Me the Horizon album. I love both of them. Thanks Mr. David. 😎

I think Linkin Park was always an inspiration for them. One of them said that 'survival horror' was inspired by the latest project Mike Shinoda droped, inspired by "hybrid theory".

I've been a massive Linkin Park fan from the beginning. Chester is a Legend. Mike is a Genius. He plays so many instruments. Writes most of their music along with Chester and other band members. Joe the DJ, Produces and directs most of their videos. Linkin Parks sounds change album to Album after the first 2. I personally love it. To see the difference you should check out- Breaking the Habit Given Up New Divide The Catalyst When They Come For Me. I think you would lose your mind on this one. Lol Waiting for the End. A must listen Wretches and Kings One more Light. This was the last album they released. This song and video became a tribute to Chester when he passed. Heartbreaking. Castle of Glass

Its impossible to only do 5 songs of Linkin Park essentially
Thumbs up if David should review the entire Hybrid Theory AND Meteora albums in their entirety! Love you David!
Their lyrics used to help me write poetry. They are timeless. RIP Chester. Miss you.
Chester can truly sing anything you should check out songs that show his versatility like Given Up Qwerty Little Things Give You Away
The song is killer. Chester's vocal during the bridge and back into the chorus is insane.
They were a huge influence on bring me the horizon too
I'm mostly a fan of their nu-metal work, but I need to see you react to 'The Catalyst' one these 5 days. It's perfect for the work you do on the keyboard, if you do that song it would make my month! Those synth-beats on the keys might make my head explode.

I love when you give your own interpretation of the riff/melody. Brings a lot to these videos.
You're also gonna love their Minutes to Midnight album
Its so sad that Linkin Park is no longer but i know that Chester will see and hear our words about him and the Band . Chester had experss his emotions and feelings in his life as a Kid and , for me , i can feel the pain he had in his life . Sadly the dead of his best friend Chris Cornell was the push above the edge of his menatlity . #RIPChester #LP4Life #MakeChesterProud

What are you talking about? Linkin Park is still active. They are working together on music and figuring out how to move forward.
@guywholikesgoodmusic
3 жыл бұрын
@@FriggSaga They're figuring out how to replace an irreplaceable member. They could bring on an extremely talented vocalist, maybe even make it on the top charts again, but it won't be Linkin Park anymore. It will become something else. Linkin Park will live on as a genre-defining sound, but the band itself may as well be over.
@FriggSaga
3 жыл бұрын
@@guywholikesgoodmusic they won't bring on another vocalist, Mike already said that. Maybe guest artists. It will still be Linkin Park but different and I'll still support them. Mike can front the band if he chooses, his solo stuff is amazing. He fronted the band with Chester anyway.
Hybrid theory was one of the first names of the band
I guess "In the End" was the most powerful song of the album and still is leading LPs Songlist. I sure can say that almost everybody who grew up with this genre knows the lyrics all along. Just for your own interest check out some of their live performances with that song (e.g. Celebrate Life Show or in Argentina) and you really see what this song ment to so many.

Every time he mentions Howie....I literally picture Howie Mandel sitting in a room somewhere editing videos. Love this channel, great reactions, massive amount of music knowledge, no other reaction channel compares in my opinion. Reaction request (I'm sure it's been asked for already): Sion - The Blade
Definitely waiting for Waiting For The End! I feel that song has always been my favorite, just the vibe man...
PLEASE react to Waiting for the End by them. It's their Magnum Opus IMO
Breaking the habit!
I think the Broadway aspect you're trying to think of is how well Chester emotes with his voice. The slightest inflections he uses rea!!y pul!s your emotions with TBE song.
I love that your reactions spark emotion in me as a viewer. Watching you experience a band and songs for the "first time", helps me view it with new eyes if I've seen it, or be right there with you. Your commentary and musical ability shines as well because it's informed, not long-winded, but is imbued with passion. Keep it up!
I actually really do get the Broadway thing with Chester. That bright and delicate quality to his voice lends itself really well to that. He started singing at a very early age and was fluent in a lot of styles.
I think Mike in general is getting too little love. I think his voice is really pleasant and adds so much in backing Chester
Always thought Chester had such clean vocals with enough timbre/resonance to make him stand out. Then when he really shouts, his vocal fry has such power that can only be energised by the raw emotions in the lyrics. You can BELIEVE he means what he says. He gives the emotion to Mike's rap lyrics. The way they switch from one to the other (rap/ singing, rap beat/ chorus guitars) is effortless & so pleasing to the ear.
I've always loved the fact that this song is relatively simple, yet so perfect. Everything just fits together perfectly
There is a song with Chester which came out posthumously, Cross-Off by Mark Morton.
Thank you Howie! Thank you the man behind the scene🥳🥳
Linkin Park's probably been an influence to any rock/metal band that came 5-10 years after them. i hope.
"Chester could sing like an angel and scream like a demon" 💜
Your reaction is great but everything after 12:00 is why I come back to watch your content. It’s easy to lose sight of the things I love amidst the day-to-day but your passion for music and raw emotion brings me back to why I picked up a guitar 20 years ago. Words can’t express my gratitude.

We need you to do Waiting For The End. Enjoying this series!
Unpopular opinion - Minutes to Midnight is their best album. Hits on such a deeper level emotionally. Chester was on a different level.
The lyrics got to me in this song when I first heard it. I was 14 years old soooo yeah naturally
The Core Riff to this song has a feeling of longing. Especially, as it tails off
Please do some not very mainstream one's as well. The Catalyst Given Up Mark the Graves When they come for me Castle of Glass All of these will be pretty awesome to analyze and react to as well. Thank you for your amazing videos!

👏👏👏👏👏 Sir Howie, you're giving us all life!!!! The effort you and sir David are putting always shows. We love hanging out here. 🖤
I love seeing someone feel this way about music I grew up with. Don't ever stop listening to new things David 👍
Great work as always!
The Album was produced by Don Gilmore but as time went on Mike Shinoda did more and more of the bands producing. On their 3rd album Minutes to Midnight he even got a producer credit next to Rick Rubin.
Everything you said at the end about music that you're playing in the moment when its just exuding from you, was elegant and beautifully said. Music saved my life, I will always find a way to play music.
You just must do 5By MUSE!!! Thank you sir for your great service to our ears and souls🧡🧡🧡
LP were so influential to my musical tastes growing up. Love to see you reacting to them. Excellent content as always!
This was such a beautiful react and true connection with music is Linkin Park all about
okay okay okay...I am now hooked on your reactions....Love it!
Love to see you vibe with one of the most important songs of my entire life. My entire youth was shaped around this song as well as Numb. Hybrid Theory is part of my core.
I just watched you get inspired. Love your interpretation !
I love that song!! Great reaction Dave.
I went to their concert in Brisbane, Australia in 2007 when Minutes to Midnight came out. Was a truly moving experience. Looking back at the set list now and learning more about their music I can appreciate it even more. Thankyou David and Rest In Peace Chester
Stopped by for Linkin Park as I always do with reactors. Your perspective, insight, and musical knowledge makes you incredibly unique. Can’t wait to see what else you’re doing! Also, you don’t have to show us, (even though we won’t object) but listen to literally everything LP has done. You’ll fall in love.

What is that? It's nothing That is EVERYTHING Aww man that gives me chills, it is so inspiring and beautiful. Touches my soul man. From 2013 to 2017 ish i wrote legit hundreds of songs. It started as wonderlust in to music, and became inspiration, then it felt like riding a wave, like surfing, then eventually started to feel like a responsibility, then an obligation... Then a chore. I felt like i had wringed all of my creativity and passion out. like you might wring out water from a sponge. I felt so sad, so hollow. Like I had lost my soul. But most of all i just felt so exhausted on a spiritual level. I love music and listen to so much, so many new things as well and they make me so happy, so excited, but hearing you talk. You make me want to pick up my guitar again, set up my keyboard again. Thank you
I'll forever regret not seeing them live when I had the chance. I was a pre-teen when Hybrid Theory came out and it was one of the first CDs I bought on my own. I remember the infomercials for it always running on TV. Hard to not get emotional thinking about the impact they had on me.
The world needs more of you, Sir. 💗
Chester's voice came across as genuine. That might've been what you were looking for.
Arigato, this stuck me like nothing else. Everyting You said was so important. So full of thought. I am just a student, And Sensie, is so helpuful. Arigato.

This is the track that got me into LP, I have never seen it broken down to this level before and I think you get it spot on.. I hope you enjoyed the album, no word of a lie when I say it changed mine and many others lives..
I’ve waited so long for a Linkin Park reaction 😭🤘
The rest of the album rocks so hard. Especially the bridges. Seriously every bridge is a change up in the best way
The last 4 minutes.. God.. what a way to relax on my sofa.. You sir, are a pleasure to listen to!!

Speaking of chesters voice check ou the live cover of rolling in the deep him and mike did. Full of blues feels
I would love to see one of these for Breaking Benjamin especially for the Phobia album. Breath, Diary of Jane, You, Evil Angel, and my personal favorite BB song Dance with the Devil!
You’re mentality is exactly the same as mine. Music is subjective. I love every genre. A friend in high school looked at my iPod and said “This describes your music taste perfectly! It goes from Motorhead to Mumford and Sons to Nelly!” I love everything lol
You havent even scratched the surface linkin park is absolutely amazing...buckle up buddy
Man I play drums, and you've really been inspiring me about just creating music. Even if just for me. Your passion for the art is really contagious lol. I'm glad I managed to stumble upon your channel.
My senior year of college, I had to take a class called Integrated Review, that was supposed to summarize everything we'd learned in 4 years of math classes and show how it all fit together, or something like that. There were two of us in the class, because it was a small school and we were the only senior math majors that year. Most of the time what it felt like was that this class was showing us we hadn't learned anything at all in the past four years. So, this was kind of our theme song for it. We played it for the prof and he told us we were morbid.

That’s an awesome story
Crossfaith - Faint - not the lp. but its singing with sooooo power... this must be listened. this is so with fkn love to band i think
I love the "5 by" idea, and it'll definitely be interesting to see how different musicians have evolved through their careers. So often when bands/musicians change musical style or switch things up a bit, it's met with backlash from fans. It happened with Linkin Parks last album before Chester sadly passed, but I personally love when bands experiment and evolve. Even if my personal preference is to a bands older style of music, I still always appreciate someone trying something
what a reaction!
"I'm becoming awakened. Awoken... Awoke? I'm waking up." Me, a professional editor: Yeah, I feel that.
You are pretty talented. As for this song it's one of my favorites. RIP Chester
I like how you encompass their whole career based on songs just from the first 2 albums
thank you
i wanna throw breaking the habit into the mix, really great music video as well
It's funny that you mentioned Broadway cause Chester did do theater when he was in school
Honestly, every album by these guys is amazing. The style changes they do between albums is was made me a fan. Please check out and listen to every album by them. Every album has a vibe and many gems within. I got hooked on them with their Minutes to Midnight album and then went back to their original radio albums like you’re reviewing now and then progressed to their most recent stuff. I couldn’t wait for new albums to drop. They really are amazing.
What's funny is Mike created the most ideas in the first two albums, but until the third album he didn't know he was a producer on the band.
Big up Howie making the content look freshh
I know you’re going to do a melodic one of Chester, and I am READY.
I had to learn that piano intro in middle school
Chester has a great voice. He could literally sing anything. You should look at some of the stuff he done live with Camp Freddy. Covering Guns N Roses, AC/DC and he done a killer version of Live’s I Alone which is a really hard song to sing.
Piano❣️
We need more DGD!
I think you would absolutely enjoy and love Brian Justin Crum's- Creep performance from AGT.
Can't sum up Linkin Park in 5 songs! Love the series though.
I love it when you react to Lp
this is the correct answer
Wish you'd react to their song points of authority. One of my fave songs
Please consider making a 5 by: Evanescene. I feel like they defined the 2000's nu metal along with Linkin Park. I'd recommend: - Going under (Fallen, 2003) - Hello (Fallen, 2003) - Lithium (The Open Door, 2006) - My Heart Is Broken (Evanescence, 2011) - Better Without you (The Bitter Truth, 2021) Honorable mentions: - Bring Me To Life (You already did that) - My Last Breath (Fallen) - Imaginary (Fallen) - My Immortal (Fallen) - Call Me When You're Sober (The Open Door)
One thing to have in mind, (in my opinion) David: You have a great precious gem over here and I think you could dedicate yourself to react over great part of their videoclips, because every song they made is a masterpiece (and I'm not lying). The dynamics, the riffs, the lyrics... everything was made with emotion, we can FEEL the music in us. Chester is one of the best and greater singers of all time for sure and Linkin Park made history! Here's some songs you could react: - Faint - From The Inside - Numb - Breaking The Habit - What I've Done - Heavy - One More Light Thanks again for reacting to them. Linkin Park is my life and I'm very emotional when someone is talking/reacting about them.
