This is a highly philosophical song. In fact, it makes reference to Plato's, the Cave.

Marcus Mumford, the lead singer from Mumford & Sons is releasing a solo album on September 16. His single "Cannibal" was released on July 14, 2022. I think you were onto someone because Cannibal is about sexual assault that he went through, so the solo album is him telling his truth. It's so sad. I feel for him.

I like your take on this. I lived my life with a victim mentality for so many years. I deal with excessive chronic pain on the daily and I allowed it to rule my life. Took pain meds, didn't move enough, ate too much... I ended up 260 pounds as a 5'1 woman. Yesterday's weigh in put me at 158 pounds and still going. Last week I walked ten miles and survived. Today I still suffer severe chronic pain but instead of defeating me it fuels me.

This is the song that made me fall in love with this group! And it's still one of my favorites of theirs. There are several things that strike me about it, and I think the first one is the line "I'll know my name as it's called again." It makes me think of someone who's become so lost in their life that they've lost touch of who they truly are. But they've come to this realization and they're determined to put in the work to get back to being the person they really want to be. So for me, "name" isn't meant so much in a literal sense as it's used as a way of defining who the person is at their core. Other lines in the song make me think of addiction and overcoming it, or like, the singer has done that and see their friend struggling with the same and is encouraging them that they can overcome it too. Regardless, this song could have a lot of varied meaning for different people, and that's something I really appreciate about it. Another song of theirs that has a really INTENSE build-up and I just love is called "Thistles and Weeds" and I think you'd appreciate it too.

Spot on. Allegory of the cave by Plato is effectively what you described. Discovering knowledge by venturing out (of the cave). Hence the song title and lyric “come out of your cave”.

Thank you for what you do. As a 51 years old man it's nice to see someone , a man, an American, not giving a shit about what the others say or think and being his own man. Thank you, in Seattle it's seems.like we are losing what it means to be a man or a woman. Keep it up and don't stop, I'll be here for the long haul brother and I mean that in a way that in as a man to man, not color versus color. I don't understand the crap they are trying to push on our children. Thank God my kids are young adults and had a great family around them. That's what's important in the end! 👍👊🙏🇺🇸

No I get what you're saying it's like an eruption of emotion a reckoning with something it's something very very deep and profound and you can feel it through the intensity of the music. I don't know if this song has anything to do with the 'Allegory of the Cave' by one of the ancient philosophers I can't remember who but it could be that. Allegory of the Cave was about a group of human beings gathered around inside a cave watching the shadows play on the wall. I think by the end some of the humans venture out of the cave to look at the world as it really is while some of the humans stay inside the cave to watch the familiar shadows as they played across the walls and I think it was an allegory to the human capacity for discovery and learning and breaking out of our own animal minds and comfort zones so we can go beyond them and address the realities within and beyond ourselves, And perhaps it still has some it's some resonance to how we treat each other today. Someone who has stepped outside of the cave, no linger watching the shadows is now awake to reality, but as a result, will never be the same, and may not ever be understood bt those still inside the cave. Along these lines tou might look at 'Mary' by Boingo. Similar themes. kzread.info/dash/bejne/imx2uZublLzQZ9bM.htmlttps://www.philosophyzer.com/the-allegory-of-the-cave-by-plato-summary-and-meaning/ Once you have an epiphany, whether it be about yourself or the world, you can never go back. Itsna good thing, like being redpilled, but it is hard.

Brother Ty, Homer Simpson said Rock and Roll achieved perfection in 1974. Ha ha. I'm not a fan of rock evolution since that metal crap but I love Jazz, Motown and the 70s Funk seen. Earth Wind and Fire put on the greatest show I ever saw.

I very much agree. It seems like a song to encourage someone that taking the next step won't necessarily be bad. May you please react to, *Wishing Well* by Humming House? It's a little known song but it speaks to humanity and how important it is to treat eachother decently. Would love your take. 🖤

haven't listened to this song in a while and i always liked it. the lyrics very interesting given that they tossed their lead guitarist Winston Marshall in the trash for daring to compliment a conservative journalist's book instead of standing up to the twitter mob.
