This is my review of Soundtrap, a "free" online DAW that works on your browser. Soundtrap is owned by Spotify. Is it any good? (Spoiler alert: Not really).

i actually use soundtrap and there are so many things that you haven't explored. you only used the vanilla drumset with only 1 type of kick 1 type of clap and 1 type of snare. if you search for more, you can find different claps and various kinds of hi hats. there are also multiple 808 basses in this to use. and by the way all the things i mentioned above in the free version of soundtrap. hope you read this and give soundtrap another shot :)

i've been using soundtrap for just a little less than a year and it has taken me 11 months to almost fully understand the software. i've tried replacing it but i don't want to spend a lot of money on other daws so i always find myself back here. it's both confusing to someone who has experience in music making and to someone who's just starting out but once you figure it out it's actually super simple.

Pirate Ableton. Ableton/ProTools/Logic are the 3 most powerful DAWs. You are shooting yourself in the foot if you choose to learn how to use soundtrap. Any future collaborations you want to make will need to be done in Ableton or Protools Ableton has a steeper learning curve but offers you much more control and freedom.

Unfortunately, it's been screwing itself with weird updates in which the ones that are wonderful get scrapped (except for dark mode) and replaced with a*shole features that remain *permanently* while bugs are just all over the place. I actually enjoyed it before it started to do this but I have no other options.

The compelling capability with Soundtrap is collaborative concurrency. We can have ten people working at once and not clobber each other's work; this single feature is why we use Soundtrap... we do not have to worry about 24/7 use of the tool by multiple musicians. We do not use Soundtrap for our final mix... we export tracks to Reaper.

This review was really good! Considering Spotify uses AI to predict your music tastes, and it seems like they ported their AI over to soundtrap It's great for beginner in order to learn how DAWs work, but it oversimplified nature leads it to let itself down once their users start to become more skilled. Eventually, it just limits you too much. I don't understand their marketing either. you don't need internet to use a DAW. It's built to be offline. You can compose an entire song without internet, which a browser requires. If you install your DAW on a laptop, you'll be able to take it anywhere. In fact, by putting soundtrap in a browser the creators made it harder to take your "studio" everywhere. In fact, you'll need a laptop to take a DAW anywhere in the first place, so that simple fact negates the need for this software in the first place.

This was the first DAW I ever used. In 2017, long before what I am now, I made tracks using Soundtrap. I was pure trash at music production and just mashed on a bunch of random synths and instruments in the hope of something decent. I still remember my first ever song, called "June Bug," though I cannot find the audio now. Soundtrap was my DAW for six months until I stumbled upon FL Studio, and used that for over five years. I no longer use FL Studio, as I switched over to Logic Pro, and now Ableton Live.

Hey so I’m completely new to DAW. know absolutely nothing. My question, I’m an aspiring songwriter. Play guitar. Learning. I want a music software program that will record my voice, (autotune a must) record my guitar playing. That will also create instrumental rhythm tracks, suggest chord progressions (not a must) and arrange tracks. I want to be able to use it to make music and not have to worry about copywriting issues using their rhythm tracks or loops. I was going to try Soundtrack bc from first glance it looks easier than other DAWs. Just visually. I realize there will be a huge learning curve to any program and that we seen this in real time with you in this video. You’re a pro and have become accustomed to other more professional DAWs, but for me new to even the conversation any suggestions? I’m reading a book called shortcuts to hit songwriting and this was the suggestion, to get a music software program. I thought soundtrap might be a visually easier way to learn.

Soundtrap was a really good introduction for me. If you want to hear the track that we collaborated on, it's on KZread. It's called Flint Long Virtual Choir, song title is "We'll Find a Way." It's starts with the guitar that I recorded on a Soundtrap track when I knew next to nothing, and then later you can hear the piano but the main thing is the great Cubase production. It needs to be by someone that's given time to try it out and not someone unqualified. This isn't helpful. If I wanted to go through and try it out then I'd just do it myself. Unlike someone looking for a review by someone who spent their time learning it so they can break it down as a review.

I thought it was good. But the app sucks on a galaxy s10. Seriously. It keeps freezing. It may be good on a PC. But on a phone and if you're on a budget it sucks. I am going to try this on a PC and see.

You pass your driving test and get your license. You leave the DMV and immediately post your driving course for new drivers so you can teach them how to drive and what you know. No one else gets their license and you wreck a bunch of cars.
