Is it just me or y'all also create some lyrics and melody in your mind and just get stuck cz you don't know how to turn that into music?

That is good to knnow :) I like your channel brother.
I believe that being able to distinguish what drum sounds, bass sounds, midrange sounds, etc., complement each other well is perhaps the most important key point that distinguishes amateur and professional composers.
1:10 I am only 1 minute in and am already CRYING because deep inside I always knew I wanted to start with drums but all tutorials and courses I’ve followed always start with chord progressions I know very little about. Thank you thank you thank you!!!❤🙏🏻

People typically start with chord progression because that's what dictates the bass line and melody - and overall feel of the track. Personally, I do drums, then chords, then bass, then melody and other fillers.

So I really enjoy writing and singing. But I can’t produce to save my life lol. Thank you for this video. It was really eye opening and you went over a lot of beginner stuff that the other “professionals” forget about. Used Fruity Loops along with this video and was able to following along just fine :)

Same here!! I love the songwriting and singing portion but the production just never sounds as vivid or exact as it does to me in my head! While I feel like a lot of my songs would be better for other voices (which is a different issue) but now at least I know how to put together a finished-sounding demo to send to people!
Anybody want to talk about the most important part of music??? The emotion that it conveys to the listener. Otherwise you might as well just get chat gpt to make all your tunes
Omg. I wanted to get back into producing but found myself intimidated and overwhelmed but you made it easy and simple to understand. I’m no longer feeling that way any more. I CAN DO THIS!! (Creepy scream entered here 😂).

Brother, I'm a seasoned Ableton producer and I found so much value in this video, I love that our workflows are very similar, but learning all the little shortcuts and the minor details you are using is going to be a lifesaver and cut down so much on time. Also, the fact that you cut out all the fat and get right down to business is amazingly satisfying, the speed of this tutorial is perfect. Subscribed, I can't wait to binge your stuff and learn everything I can, glad I found you, thanks for this!!
As someone who has been trying to learn producing for the last 4 years.. this is amazing. Thank you!

Absolutely blown away I want to just sit at my computer for hours now thank you so much!!
i watch your videos in awe, nothing better than watching someone making something awesome whilst having fun with it
Jesus Christ the attention to detail you put while teaching it's ridiculous. I feel like every KZreadr who considers themselves a teacher should take a note or two out of your book. It's the first time in witness anyone recommending things like "make a session folder", so brief but so holistically incorporated into your Lesson. And then the constant repeating of commands! If i could tell you the struggles I've had trying to figure out the useful commands i should have in my toolbox... Man; this is great 10/10 best teacher ever.
What a great lesson Ethan! The information was so organized and helped this non-musical Ableton learner understand how to get the producing boat in motion. Looking forward to other sessions with you.

I've been wanting to learn producing since the start of 2023, because I was inspired by some of my favorite artists, but I was always intimidated by it all. I was nervous, especially because I'm not good at singing and can't play instruments, so I didn't know what I should do. Thank you so much for this 🙏💜.

This video was extremely informative. but I HAVE TO SAY you are STUNNING my goodness. your physical appearance plus your vibe and mannerisms equal magnificence!
That's one of the most inspirational and educational video i've come across on internet for production. Thank you and Cheers man!!!
This was a fantastic tutorial - the explanation of the compressor + sidechain was specifically wonderful thank you for that! I've been teaching myself to produce and didn't know that was the common formula, I'd just already adopted that from a creative inspiration standpoint so glad to know I'm on the right track 😃
Im really impressed with the process and result! absolutely obsessed with the sound!
Ethan, you've quickly become one of my top KZread producers. Do you have any advice on overcoming option paralysis when it comes to producing/writing music? Whenever I set down to write or produce I always find myself digging through an endless library of sounds, chord progressions, sometimes I can't seem to set myself on a tempo either. Even when it comes to trying to recreate popular tracks, I can't just stick to one. What is the best way you've found to set yourself on an and see it through? Thank you for blessing us with your content.

thanks for the encouragement! that's a great question! for me it helps to have a reference, and stick with the reference until i get close to it, like 80% of the way, then branch off and make it my own. i think at this point the process of production for me is listening, deciding what the song needs, then adding that element. trial and error. like adding a little bit of paint at a time. with years of practice, eventually you make more trials, and less errors, and you get whats in your head to come out of a pair of speakers in less time, and more clearly. i think picking one reference and getting 80% of the way there with it will help a lot!

Also give yourself constraints or a certain limit if you’re still within your first year. It helps to do things like “what can I create out of 4 tracks and using only one string instrument?” Soon you’ll know how to be more decisive and clean with your ideas and avoid any extra clutter/tracks. After you finish these 4-5 track projects, you can ALWAYS come back to it later and give it what it needs, but focus on creating a full song out of those and THEN cleaning up shop after you’re able to rest on it.
thank you I am so happy that your channel exists
