Yes it was the end of the video BUT NO, it wasn't. Dimash's father was in the audience, having been secretly smuggled in. Dimash has been in China , with no family etc, for three months for this competition. He was very homesick. The reunion is beautiful! Then the backstage conversation is interesting as it shows the lovely humility of Dimash. Dimash should have won against all the professionals but was placed second as China had to "save face". Please watch the whole video.

Actually, he met them many times. During this three months, he was in Kazakhstan several times doing performances there too. And his family came to visit him in China as well. But you are right. He really missed them a lot, being so close to his family and used to always have them around

Watching his father in the audience as he performed was fantastic and the ending with his father hugging (Dimash was surprised to see his father) and going with him to the dressing area was very special. Did I sing well he asked his father, looking for that parental approval of which he received. Really nice that that was recorded and put out for all to see.

@@barnowl5774 thanks for your respond. Some get offended when I correct them, but I think it is important cause earlier he played five instruments, then seven. I don't know what the correct number is, but then it escalated to nine, then ten and twelve, and I know for sure that it is not correct so I try to correcting when I am absolutely certain about the facts. Another example I read in the comments was that he had black belt in taekwondo, while he said in the TV interview in 2019 that he was quitting just before he was due to upgrade to red belt. I only relate to information I have received from interviews and documentaries and I hope that you will do the same ☺️

Thanks for reacting to this....but, do yourself a favor....look for the extended version of this. It's sooooo heartwarming at the end with his dad!!That was him fist pumping at the end. LOVED to see how you got shocked with each raise! He actually said in an interview that if he had known his dad was in the audience, that he wouldn't have acted so "cheeky"...lol! The producer of Vitas, who sings this song, contacted Dimash' producer and told him that he could NEVER sing this song again...big baby! And NO, THIS is Dimash in the beginning in 2017...when you watch the extended video, you will see that by his demeanor with his dad.His attitude has evolved significantly since then.

This was just one week later after SOS. He knew the audience were familiar with this song from Vitas and he knew he was going to blow Vitas out of the water so he was playing with them. As you said, this was super easy for him so he could have fun with it. I love seeing this side of his personality. This is really him. He teases and jokes around all the time with his friends. There are lots of good interviews, behind the scenes and documentaries that show this. Also as others have mentioned, do watch the full version with English subtitles. I think the way he reacts to finding out his dad was there has totally sealed his Dears heart to him forever more, if it wasn’t already. Perfect example of his true humility.

I think that he wasn't necessarily trying to blow Vitas out of the water, as you put it. As he said in the behind the scenes for this episode, he tries to challenge himself by singing songs that have a high level in terms of skill.

@@arwengarraway9143 every vocal coach or professional person I have watched react to this has commented that this song was totally easy for Dimash. All of it was in his comfort range. Watch Stranger, from Shine super brothers if you want to see what he means when he challenges himself. He has well over 7 octaves now. That is why he played around and was cheeky with his audience. He did say after, if he had known his dad was in the audience he wouldn’t have been so cheeky. If you haven’t seen the long version of this with English lyrics where he finds out his dad came to surprise him, you should watch it. Shows such a gorgeous side of his personality and makes his Dears totally give their hearts to him. 💕

However if you watch Caleb Cole's reaction to this song, he says that Dimash almost looses the last note and has to put some effort into getting it under control. When he pointed it out, i definitely could understand what he was talking about

That was his father that they showed a couple times. He came from Kazakhstan to China to surprise him. This is actually the same competition show that got him recognized with SOS.

Yes - actually to Mars. Did you know that his Chinese fans are so 'keen' that a Chinese Rover sent to Mars has a metal plate attached with Dimash's face & name etched on?! But here he was 'performing' & got terribly embarrassed when he found out just after this {see video to the end} that unbeknownst to him his Father had come from Kazakhstan and was in the audience. He thought his father might think his demeanor was 'too cheeky' {flirting with the audience} and the first thing he asked his father was "Did I sing well?" !!!!

Why no comments? By the time I get done, there will be comments, I'm sure. A few things--there is a man the camera goes to a few times--that's his dad. Dimash didn't know he would be there and said he would not have been so "playful" if he had known--but his dad obviously approved of the performance. Dimash is not allowed to sing that song anymore, from what I understand. The original singer wasn't too happy with being outdone by Dimash.

This is the show (The Singer 2017) where he gained global fame and this performance was only his second appearance on the show - he won this episode and he won the first episode where he sang SOS, which you have already reacted to. He also won the episode where he sang Adagio. FYI Dimash was well known in Kazakhstan and CIS countries before his appearance on The Singer but this show catapulted him on to the world stage. Agreed! I think if anyone watches "Stranger", you will see how far his English has progressed. I can only think that the "Stranger" performance will help in the concurring the west. His English will only get better and better. What a superstar he has become. I've been around a long time and have seen many fantastic male vocalists and Dimash is unparalleled - the best. Even if someone doesn't like this type of music, one would have to appreciate his superb vocal talent. Adagio is certainly a good one to check out as is all of his videos and/or concerts. Mostly really love your reactions.

No, this was his SECOND performance on the Singer, he was 22 y.o. He was already quite confident back then. Starting this competition, he had NEVER come in second. I guess that builds confidence.

The gentleman shown at the very end is his father. Dimash does that staccato in response to people who accused him of lip singing. He certainly doesn't need to do that. Thanks for your reaction video.

Dimash was the youngest of them. Its organizers invited him themselves.Dimash sang "SOS d'un terrien en détresse" in the competition he was supposed to sing first. There were eight singers, it will go on to seven. Dimash passed. Each day, one participant receives a cup and one leaves the project. There are 14 cups in total. This means that you have to take part in 14 turns. The winner is the one who receives the most cups. New singers join along the way.The peculiarity of the project is that the cameras in real mode observe your every move, film how you eat, how you behave In 2017, Dimash's competitors were very strong, experienced singers, multiple winners of the "China Music World", "M T V Awards" and others. The peculiarity of this show is that the singer is not limited to performing the song on stage, he is constantly under real-time supervision.The main requirements for the singer in the project "I am a Singer": 1. A singer must win the hearts of the audience. 2. He has to show his new face every time. 3. To perform in a new style, in a new genre. 4. Sing Live. The winner in each round is selected by 500 spectators aged 20-60 sitting in the hall. Each viewer has the right to vote for three singers. These 500 viewers no longer vote in other rounds. In each turn, the singers receive a total of 1,500 votes. In the first round, Dimash received 78% of the votes, ie 1170 votes out of 1500 !!!After January 21, they lost the possibility of a "normal" walk in China! This may be my favorite performance by him. I love the way he plays with his audience. He always does work the audience, but I’d love to see him do more songs that are light and “fun” like this.

Actually, if you watch the long video of this performance, round 2 of 14, Dimash twice asks his dad Did I sing it well? So , he's not taunting the crowd so much as teasing. He doesn't sing in his high range to show off. He says it's how he shows emotion. Hopefully, you will continue to read the comments so you learn what of a person Dimash really is.

This is the only time you'll hear him sing this song. Apparently, the show didn't get permission for him to sing it on the show. Also, it is the signature song of a Russian singer named Vitas. Vitas' arrangement does the key change, but Dimash did it two additional times. Vitas didn't like that it upstaged his version and he won't give Dimash permission to sing it again. Same thing happened with "Hello" by Lionel Ritchie who won't give permission for Dimash to sing it again, either, as Dimash just owned that song.

Thank you for your reaction to Dimash. But please watch until Dimash walks off because sometimes things happen after he sings. The man in the shadows was his dad who flew in to surprise Dimash. Dimash didn’t know he was there he had been in China alone from family for 3 or 4 weeks and was homesick. The reunion was something!

Yeah, but stop saying everywhere that he hitted a d8 at gakku, dimash is a lot more than that, he isn't only high notes, his level of singing is incredible. I love dimash but tbh, I hate every time when I see someone discovering dimash and the first thing people tell him to go check out is the d8. Yeah, that was impressive but he has a LOT more amazing performance than that, high notes doesn't equal better singer! No hate, just my thoughts.

@@freex1642 I'm totally in agreement with the D8 note thing. Nevertheless, I do love the Diva Dance. The reason was it has always been my favorite science fiction opera song from the 5th Element. It is simply breathtaking, be it in that movie or the piece done by Dimash @Bastau Concert.

I'd much prefer Matt check out my personal favorite dimash performances Hello, Samaltau, and Drunken Concubine + Diva Dance with Li Yugang :D I'm actually a bit sad that out of all the great Dimash recommendations I've commented to reactors, this one, which was just about his high notes, got the most likes :(

Well, I have a mental list. Every song he does is unique in some way and I too have a certain amount of love for each song, just because of the pure, spectacular vocal ability he has, in many languages, with oh so many songs. What he does is amazing and I marvel at the colors and special techniques he has with songs, to pull you into the story. I have my favorites which each of you do but we are all different, so the lists cannot be the same. The list is long.

Most Dimash performances have a version with subtitles if you want them. Just add "Eng sub" after Dimash and the song title in the search box. This was just his second appearance on The Singer in 2017. S.O.S. had made him a superstar in China just the week before.

But you were right that he got more confidence when performing this song because he gained many fans after the first performance. I strongly recommend you to watch his third performance "The Show Must Go On". You won't be disappointed, I guarantee. Loved your reaction. If you really want to be impressed by Dimash, search for: 1) Olimpico (incredible!), and my favorite: Sinful Passion (this one is out of this world as he really shows his baritone voice perfectly and adds some Middle Eastern twist that leaves you breathless). In the last part of this song you just wonder how in the world he can hold his breath for so long and on top of that do amazing runs perfectly. Enjoy. He is a supernatural, unique human.

It will take watching about 8-10 performances by Dimash to get the idea of all he can do. So far you haven't really heard his lower register. There's a few crazy low notes in "Stranger" and it's also a very mystical sounding piece, so I highly recommend it next. A few other good songs to hear lower register are "Olimpico," "Sinful Passion" and "Love is Like a Dream". All are wonderful!
