I remember listening to it for the first time and hearing the change in key, which I didn’t expect, and I remember thinking that it was like the song was lying to me

It’s not very interesting musically.

I think ”Lie” is one of the masterpieces Bts have released.

You referred to the chords and instruments drawing us back in, which is exactly what Jimin goes through. This song speaks of his issues with low self esteem. He'll get better then the lies in his head telling him he isn't good enough etc. will start again and draw him back into that terrible spiral. Thanks for pointing out the old organ. This song made me an army it's by far my favourite BTS song it's so beautiful.

Lie is the most unique pop song (if it can be classified at all) I’ve heard, very much in line with Jimin unique qualities in voice tone, dance talent and visuals !!! Perfect experience especially when he performed it!

The reason for the "key change" is it's going from Minor to Major. If you notice, the change from Minor to Major only happens when he says he's caught in a lie. The change itself is a lie. It's a musical reflection of what he's saying. Namjoon and just the whole production team are geniuses for thinking of this. But of course RM is a genius...... he's literally MENSA with an IQ of 148. Great analysis!

Another bts song in which the lyrics and the mood/tension of the instrumentals/vocals go hand in hand is Namjoon's 'What Am I To You". It is by far my favourite bts song for that exact reason. Unfortunately a lot of newer fans don't even know the song exists so idk if it would be worth it (for you) to make a video on it. I would certainly recommend at least having a listen on your own though!

Am so happy about this reaction and Yes this song wasn't made just like that or just to make a song it was meant to Tell a Tragedy (the one jimin lives in Their concept, i think you will find great answers in the theories videos the fandom makes). Also yeah the Story was him being caugh in his own life (being okey with the past) while its not, Its a very beautiful and deep song, the classical music matches well with their concept in the Blood sweat and tears Era and the WINGs Album in wich this song belongs to.
