he is singing live indeed! there is a backing track too, it's difficult to sing live while dancing so he doesn't sing the hard parts as he has to dance too. you can actually make out when he pauses singing live and resumes again. all of the bts members sing live majority of the time!! lip syncing isn't their cup of tea :P

This vid even didn't show the amazing surprise James Brown like unexpected ending but that was all cut off, plus this vid was so edited that the whole perfromance glow wasn't the same and didn't do Jimin's so legendary perfromance justice! So so sad that the safe link I kept sending with warning wasn't used. Hope this one even tho edited doesn't get removed.

Yes. I remember one time (was it for Lie? or for Serendipity?) that Jimin came out and apologized to the audience because he wasn't able to sing the entire song while dancing at the same time because of the difficult choreography.

That's not quite accurate. Lol. I mean because BTS comeback schedule was so fur some before Wings tour JIMIN indeed developed Laryngitis right before their fist stop in Chile, but still gave a flawless perform an in spite. Just that back then Jimin was an ctually still is such a perfectionist, but way harder in himself back them about giving the best always for army who don't get to see BTS in person worldwide all that much. That backstage scene that all BTS introductions seem to dwell in, wasn't even for Jimin's performance in Lie, plus it was never about JIMIN being insecure but apwatching because he was sick with sever bad throat condition, but army has twisted the truth a bit to use this as an example that he's insecure. Although when other members are crying backstage when they were unable to perform 100% because they were sick and it's even JIMIN comforting, nobody ever uses these clips to say they're insecure!! But anyway, getting back to Lie , JIMIN did not say that. It's just when he sings "Caught in a Lie" that he's not actually singing that part,, though I've been told that indeed later on during wings tour he even managed to somehow sing that part as well, inspite of the so exhausting so difficult choreography. Speaking of caught in a lie, JIMIN even said he'd not be able to hit those high notes when singing Crystal Sniw live, but indeed h sang them every time during the tour breathtakingly magnificently. It was indeed Jin who wasn't always able to do the triple note because it indeed is a bit of a strain for him to do it especially night after night! For Jin it's not as easy or natural like it is for Jimin who even before proper coaching was always able to hit those high notes, which vocal coaches always comment in with amazement! Sorry I went off a bit. But throughout the yrs too much misinformation has come out concerning JIMIN.

@@abbiea1237 ?? Can't figure out who you are replying to... I did hear Jimin apologize before a strenuous performance and, like I said, I can't remember if it was for Lie or Serendipity. Regardless, I'm not trying to spread misinformation. This is not hearsay, since it's from my own memory. I never mentioned the Chilean concert or the scene from Burn the Stage, so I can only assume you are replying to someone else.

♦️Jimin wrote the lyrics not only by himself, but was the only one to send his very first draft to the producers, and it was approved, so no need for a rewrite! The lie is the lie he keeps telling himself. Always in the past aiming for perfection and by doing so always questioning and second guessing himself! Although deep inside he knows better! The other lie is telling himself as well as everyone else that everything is alright when it's not!! Jimin has grown and changed, along with the other members since then. All learning to love themselves for who & what they are flaws and all! Jimin is now able to, as his song Promise says, shine the light on himself, as well, speaking up more when things bother him and allowing himself to laugh off whenever he makes any kind of mistake, knowing now he can always perfect or improve on whatever is lacking next time!!

In my opinion Jimin is one of the most talented singers, dancers, performers and composers EVER. Many have tried to cover Lie but no one has ever been close to Jimin's performance.. and I think that a huge reason is that it's a super personal song to him. The lyrics talk about his personal struggles (read the Note on Doolset's blog!) and the way they connect so perfectly with the melody of the song is mesmerizing (the music kinda "tells" what he's singing about). Every time, EVERY TIME! I listen to Lie I get CHILLS! One of my favorite songs ever. Also, Jimin's choreography for Lie (he danced BLINDFOLD!!)... he's unique. Thank you soooooooo much for your reaction. I loved that you paid attention to every detail, I learned so much... Thank you again Andrew!

Recently a couple of Korean directors of idol training school in South Korea got interviewed about the idols they trained and when they were asked if there's a boy group they think is the most skillful, they said BTS and when asked who among them is the best, they answered Jimin. One of them explained it's because if Jimins unique voice and his ability to sing a song in a way that captures the listeners attention. She also said that Jimin, when performing, kniws how to control his breathing while singing and dancing and knows how look at the camera that will make his audience go crazy. Another Korean who reacted to. Jimin's other solo song Filter said that Jimin sings his words that's not really the typical way of pronouncing those words, he bends and shape his singing to convey whatever emotion or message he's trying to portray. And that's what I love about Jimin's singing, aside from his unique vocal color. He knows how to captivate his audience, how to sing a song in a way that is totally his and full of emotion.

More Jimin reactions? Yes, yes. I love your breakdowns because I have forgotten all the musical training and experience I ever had. Jimin has some very elaborate and difficult solo performances and he does sing while dancing. They all train very hard to be able to do that. Of course there's a backing track because so often they layer their own vocals. I'm not sure about the recording for this particular video but I have seen several different Lie performances. Bonus comment, this is not the only time he has danced blindfolded and certainly not the toughest choreography he has danced blindfolded. Amazing performance, as always. Jimin is a bit of a perfectionist. 💜

Lie is amazing definitely one of my favorites. Jimin’s live performances are literally art and gold. He’s an amazing performer. His vocals are top tier. He’s my all time favorite vocalist. His tone is unique. His voice is honey-like, comforting, healing, beautiful, and angelic. But his dancing is another level. That man is the best dancer I’ve ever seen. He’s such a versatile dancer. His dancing includes so many styles modern/contemporary, hip-hop, popping, ballet, korean dance and martial arts. What makes him unique and special is that he mixes them when dancing. He just has the most beautiful dance lines. His dancing is very artistic from head to toe. He carries and shows sm emotion in his dancing. No one can dance like him. Quote from Professionals “Jimin’s dance can’t be replicated. Jimin is like an art masterpiece that can’t be imitated.” As a dancer myself, I would luv to be able to be as good as him. He gave me the courage and inspiration to continue dancing instead of giving up.

It's just so unlike anything else I've heard in "pop" music and I can appreciate how amazing it is even when I know nothing about the music itself. I remember watching a video "Musicians react to BTS Lie" and seeing them all lose their collective minds over the music with the minor/major change and it made me appreciate the song on a whole other level. It's songs like this that I think of when BTS gets compared to Western boy bands. I was a huge preteen/teen fan of Backstreet Boys and NSYNC and I still will happily sing along to their songs when they are on the radio, but I have never heard them or any other group considered a boy band make a song like this. That's why so many of us are upset when media portray BTS incorrectly. It is fascinating to hear your breakdowns - they are explained for us in trerminology we can understand and I appreciate the little boxes with info that you put up (ie: 3/4 time, etc) that help us out.... Don't worry about the length - if the info is interesting we would watch hour long videos with you..... If you are worried - split it in two with the basic info first for those who want a quick reaction and then those that want can watch the second video where you break things down fully after the initial reaction. Basically we are watching because you have the experience as a musician, so anything you can explain to us about how they make their music so beautiful is what we want to hear - there are many reactors out there just doing it for clicks and only watch the video, jump up and down, make stupid noises and say it's great... very few reactors are like yourself with somethng constructive to say - I also like the fact that you really take the time to learn the song with doolset lyrics - you can tell that (while i'm sure you are happy for the views) you actually appreciate the musicianship and lyricallity of BTS. Haha, I remember classical musicians reacting to this and they were like: ‘THE MAJOR IS A LIE!!! THIS IS AMAZING!’ 🤣 In regards to him singing live, basically if you can see his lips moving, then he’s singing. There are some moments he skips and lets the backing track take over, but he never moves his mouth at those points, so you can see pretty well when he’s singing and when he isn’t. BTS (and lots of other Kpop groups) have developed not only amazing stamina, but they also adapt their dancing to not disturb their voices, like you won’t see anyone jump during a choreo and have a line while landing, the line happens either in the air or another member (who is on the ground) sings.

Namjoon stated on vlive that: "Lie"alot of you love this.its Jimin's song. This is the song i last checked since I was busy.If you watch the short, there is the fruit of good and evil. There are many things about lies and truth.I talked about this song with jimin recently.I didn't know jimin wrote the lyrics. He didn't work on lyrics or music officially before. He tried many times we worked together. We do an interview when we first make the songs. The solo songs are not a simply a concept.its not simply a character like "young forever" Or "Demian".We didn't match overself on character.our deep worries and troubles in our deepest part.there is a story to all of them.the songs are made by combining "Young forever" And "demian" Jimin wrote all the lyrics. I didn't know. It was written so well. Recently jimin told me thisthis, he said he was really happy recently.he got better and is more relaxed.before our debut since we were trainees. He was quite similar to me, he would always blame himself for his own short failing "I am not good" Or "I'm not enough" "I'm doing wrong" "I'm bad" He said he thought like that all the time. Though I keep running I'm trapped in lies, return my smile. Putting oneself into a corner. We talked about that and agreed alot.Jimin told me this story, He thought about his past self while writing. He was deep in lies in the past."I blamed myself regardless the truth"."I always thought about my mistakes, even if others didn't I would blame myself" He Wrote "Lie" While thinking about that time. So he wrote it after hard work. The producer said it was so well written and goes with the song. He said it would be amazing. Even now I can imagine this song if it wasn't for lyrics. There is nothing complicated about lyrics. It's perfect. I THINK WORKING ON LYRICS JIMIN WAS ABLE TO PROVE HIMSELF ONCE MORE. It was a step forward that's what I think.

Here's info that some still aren't aware of: ❤️JIMIN, at age 11-12 started studying, performing, & competing (winning every competition), in hip hop, popping (excelled), & street dancing, while attending the renowned Just Dance Academy in Busan where he's from! He was so good that an instructor even had the high tuition fee waived at one point! This was while also attending middle school, where he loved sports, being quite athletic, joined the football team, excellent at track, great at basketball, & billiards! Jimin also, all throughout his schooling, was known as a top scholar, achieving perfect scores, especially in math & science which just always came easy to him! Jimin was even class president for 9 yrs in a row! Jimin, all throughout his schooling, was also quite good in art class, as well as calligraphy. Jimin, then also took up contemporary dance. The media, after seeing a performance of Jimin's performing at a huge Busan Festival Event, called Jimin "The rising star of Busan"!! JIMIN also studied ballet & traditional Korean dance while attending Busan High School of the Arts. Jimin still went to Just Dance Academy to take hip hop classes whenever he could because his first love has always been hip hop, even though he was now majoring in contemporary! JIMIN even had an offer to dance overseas, but declined because he also wanted to become a singer since the 2nd grade, to the dismay of one of his dance instructors who said "The world of dance was going to lose a great artist"!! So Jimin then went and auditioned for BigHit Entertainment, (company BTS is signed with), being the very last member to join, being a trainee for only a few months (which is unheard of for most Kpop idols), as opposed to the 2-3 yrs of being a trainee the other members had! But Jimin was so good that he was assigned the official title of one of the two Main Dancers, as well as Lead Vocalist. Jimin was even assigned most of the high notes since the very beginning, because even without all that training in the beginning, he was that good, a natural born singer who, just like his dancing makes you feel every emotion and feeling he's trying to convey! JIMIN, also, for 8 yrs, since a quite young boy, trained in various forms (4), of martial arts: Taekwondo (Blackbelt), Hapkido, Kumdo (Korean form of Kendo), & Chinese martial arts. He even won a scholarship, the only student to do so, to study more extensively in China for awhile! All the martial arts training has given JIMIN his phenomenal inner core strength, as well as his amazing flexibility, which has enabled Jimin to achieve all those breathtakingly spectacular gravity defying dance moves! JIMIN has found a way to incorporate all his various dance disciplines, as well as his extensive training in martial arts into his unique, ever so special, outstandingly amazing dancing abilities!! JIMIN, has been called 'Stage Commander', known for his amazing, so mesmerizing stage presence. Each dance move is executed flawlessly, his extensions all the way to the fingertips, his lines so clean, his fluidity, his poise & elegance, his ever so graceful moves, but yet, sharp, quick & deliberate when required! He focuses on every detail! Known for his work ethics and being a perfectionist to a fault, spending hours in the practice room, will study every move, even focusing on hands to fingertips. Even his facial expressions, or the look in his eyes! Every single detail he focuses on. Jimin tends to take in the music and interprets all the emotion & feelings, whatever it's trying to convey through his body movements as well as his vocals. JIMIN has won the prestigious titles for 2 yrs in a row for both KING OF KPOP, as well as also winning BEST TOP #1 DANCER IN KPOP, now 3 yrs in a row, as well!! Jimin is also referred to as "Rookie's Bible" because all rookie idols, try to emulate & study every move he makes, trying to learn from him! Aside from all that Jimin has won other countless award, broken many records. His 5 solos have broken charting records worldwide, as well as being top seller, plus most listened to. Also breaking records for being #1 branding marketing idol, every single month for now over two & half yrs, a feat never achieved before, and still ongoing! The term the "Jimin Effect" is now in the Urban Dictionary! So much more as well but will stop here.

This masterpiece was Jimin's first songwriting serious experience. He wrote both lyrics and melody. Ever since, he only created absolute HITS! This man is beyond talented both as musician and performer 😊 P.S.: Jimin sings live like 80% of the song. Some of the parts are left to the background vocals (you can hear it, drowned out and quieter parts), like "Caught in a lie" part, but the rest is him singing. When you hear them sing all the time, it's easy to notice what is live and what is just song playing. What I like about BTS is that, even if they don't sing some part of the song themselves, they don't lip-sync aka don't pretend they are singing when they don't actually do that. They don't deceive their audience :)

So happy that you did get a chance to react to this, but was so hoping you react to the link I sent you that was a way safer Fancam, that indeed showed better that JIMIN was indeed singing the whole time, except for when h esang 'Caught in a Lie'. This wansntbthe best vid to see, it didn't even show the surprise unexpected amazing ended ing , nor could you really get to see Jimin's phenomenal dancing to best ability, as well as the equally amazing choreography and the backup dancers. I'll leave the link and request I left you once again in hopes perhaps you can see it at least in your own! I just hope this version you for some reason chose to see stays up and doesn't get removed, though it looks like it's been edited possible already so you could see it. So sad that this performance wasn't seen in its entirety like I hoped it would as week as to do Jimin's amazing legendary performance justice.this is exactly why I kept sending you and warning you to only see the Fancam version.

What defines KPOP is it's more than the music, it's the dance, costume, perfomance ; the complete package. Jimin was a contemporary dancer b4 BTS. BTS usually has a back track, but attempt and usually do sing most of the song when dancing. BTS doesn't lip sinc. This song expresses Jimin's frustration and the tension that he feels as he discovers himself as a pop star (IDOL) I THINK you will enjoy all of the band's solo performances. They each bring something special to the stage.

(Pls read this lol). Yes bts use backing track when there dancing because backing tracks takes out the breathing sounds. But there do sing live and there voices are real. Also if you hear the sound very low were he was supposed to sing, that's how you tell is backing track. They sometimes stop singing on purpose in the middle of something to proud there actually singing because some people say that they lip sync saying it's hard to dance and sing at the same time. I do agree that is hard but BTS practices for that, they run on the treadmill and sing/rap at the same time. That has helped them a lot of developing that good breathing skills. For the electric guitar is that the song was live so the electric guitar and everything is by live band. Bts does a lot of live band when live, there back stage when preforming so there don't get in the way. I loved your relation and how you pause to talk. Have a nice day.

I feel Like the build-up before the line "Caught in a lie" is like you said, it's got stepping stones but also it feels like a ticking clock. Sort of building up tension... it even has a kindof click, like a grandfather clock the and finger snaps that sort of sound like a ticking clock in a way and then the "CAUGHT IN A LIE!" is like the alarm going off! The release of tention. At least that's what I hear.😁

Love your reactions! Don't worry, when I first started listening to BTS, every song became my new favourite. BTS is just that good! The guys use a 'backing track' in their concerts so they can complete the harder choreographies; but they sing for most if the song. It gives them a chance to breathe too. I would love your more in depth analyses and I would enjoy your lyrics breakdown videos too. You are different from other reactors, so feel free.

Afaik he sings to a backing track so when he gets out of breath or feels unstable vocally, he can mute himself and the performance will be whole. I don't know if there are fanchant moments for Lie, or if the audience sometimes sings parts of it. From the concert videos I have seen, BTS audiences are relatively respectful, compared with an average pop or rock concert audience. They seem to be able to sense when it is their time to join BTS, or whatever. Sometimes, the big screens will tell the audience that it's ARMY Time, and they actually will sing along to most of a song, using Korean lyrics on the screen that have been romanized so they can pronounce them. There is a famous instance of this, where at one concert, I think it was one of the Wembley concerts, ARMYs coordinated with the BigHat concert staff to do an ARMY Time to the song Forever Young, to celebrate a birthday. I think it was Jin's birthday, though I may be wrong. Anyway, it completely surprised BTS, all of whom ended up crying from the love and astonishment they were feeling. I'm an older person with a lot of life and professional experience, and when I write comments, it kind of seems like I know a lot because time lends a particular credibility to a writing voice. However, I have been BTS ARMY for less than 2 years. I have never seen them live, in person. I'm just sharing things that I have picked up from watching video footage all over the place, and I may be misremembering sometimes, or also misinterpreting. Anyway that's my information disclaimer, LOL.

@@AndrewBergSax actually, the young forever singalong at wembley was not for a birthday, it was just because bts sold out two nights at wembley stadium and it was a historic night for them and for music in general (they were the 12th artist to ever sell out wembley and the first non-english speaking one), so armys wanted to make it special for them, two days they will remember. and army time is not generally a thing, armys sing along all concert long at every concert anywhere in the world (though we do have fanchants, sections of every song that we specifically sing along to together, but some people try to sing the whole song if they can hah). also, the "army time" disclaimer with korean lyrics was only for the young forever wembley situation. but heather was not far off!!

@@AndrewBergSax ah yes, what @kat said... the "Yout Forever" surprise in Wembley was a unique moment to surprise the entire band because headlining Wembley was a huge deal to them. We received "ARMY sing!" instructions on the big screens to sing that song to them instead of them singing the very last encore song of the concert. "ARMY Time" is displayed at every concert (at least has been at every concert I've been so far), and it signifies the moment/song when all fans hold up the slogan banners that were prepared as fan projects. Previouly, local fan bases in the different countries would organise this, with approval from BigHIt (fans submit suggestions, then polls on slogans and designs are held, moneypool collected to cover printing costs, and then the slogans are distributed to every seat in the venue). This is part of the communication between band and fans, as we tried to come up with meaningful slogans that picked up on some key elements in their lyrics, trying to give back some of the comfort they continuously offer us, and show our appreciation. In 2019, some fanbases were struggling to organise all of that, because doing this on the scale of an entire stadium is a huge undertaking (compared to arenas previously), and so now eventually bighit decided to help organise (they hold votes for slogans/desings on their fan community app weverse now, and take care of producing the winning slogans, at least while there were still concerts with an audience).

If you listen carefully, you can hear female backing vocals throughout this song. That’s Sumin, she helped write and produce Lie. Sumin is an artist herself. She’s kinda eccentric and her music is very unique. That’s why this song is so different because it reflects Sumin’s music.

So BTS dance for most of performances, when they have concert there is only a few songs that they don't dance to or move. Soooo they have backing tracks when they perform so when they don't sing for some reason (like catch breath, etc), so there is not quiet moment also adlips are in backing track so performance feel full bc this is also essencial to kpop, that show aspect. But you can hear when he sing live and when not, if you listen carefully, usually when there is a lot of moves he sings less. Hmm so they sings live and dance, they used to work out and sing, like run on tredmil and sing songs. I would say they sing 96% live. He put on blindfold bc he sings that he lost way so he show this with "don't see" moment. To your questions, for me the in this video was enoch info. So if you want to do some full on take apart song it is up to you.
