Pyramid Head is a bad guy. He is a dark reflection of James. Or, evil James.

One possibility is that they're not announcing a release date because their media strat is to try to keep people talking. They release a freebie game to give PS5 using fans something to play and discuss now, and they leave everyone questioning when SH2 is releasing. I'll bet that they continue this pattern of giving us a question with every answer.

​@@thegamingmuse I really want this game to get scrapped like batgirl, remakes always feel like new lazy devs banking on from other people's work, the R e remakes are garbage theft, and I don't think konami have any idea how fans want a silent hill game to be and let's be honest it ended with team silent girl.

That could be the room with the flooded staircase where James has his first PH boss fight. Pretty sure he was assaulting another monster when you come across him there too.

@@thegamingmuse Yah, I always assumed that the boss fights in the remake would need a larger area (like SH1's split head 1st boss) instead of the small spaces of the original. You can't really do that with this new control and camera system well. Its too constricting.

I like to see that they are going to play with camera angles, and personally I think there would be no problem using small spaces with the camera on the shoulder, it might even work thematically and fighting PH should in no way be comfortable. They may have simply altered the space to add more to the encounter.

Agreed, konami's blunders have caused an unhealthy cynicism in many fans. I think it looks promising, and sh2 is my favorite game ever, but it's a game guys. Don't base your happiness on it.

buddy i wish fan games had that kinda budget lol; this is not a finished game, its just a work in progress, so there are rough edges. You can tell - just look at James walking around. There's no flashlight. They haven't finished this yet by far.

The main criticisms seem to be on the animations and combat fluidity, which is funny because those were not strong points of the original at all. Sh2 is beloved for it's atmosphere, story, and music. If bloober gets those right, then this will be an amazing game too. Like muse said, the combat can only improve on the original.

The dead man in the fridge is the Eddie toilet scene. The corpse inside the bathtub is The Other Toilet Scene. 🤣 18:19 OH MY GOD I'M GUESSING THAT'S THE MEAT FRIDGE ENTRANCE! I think the way James reacts when he's fighting with the plank is well done because it looks like his inner anger coming out at each blow. After watching this trailer, I have high expectations for the SH2 Remake. I'm honestly so hyped! 🥰 I also think that the release will be in September to commemorate the original SH2 game's debut. October will be used to promote another SH Game based on the fans' ratings...and obviously more SH2 Merch. 😉

Muse is one of the best SHYT, great videos, and documentary stuff, very pasioned about the story of this game, in the lore, and also behind the scenes. I really like your attitude too, you aren't into clickbait like others.

Love seeing another crazed Silent Hill fan who is super excited for Silent Hill 2 remake! Once I was able to see a high quality 4K video and digest everything I saw... I became much more excited! I love the variants of the monsters. The combat is actually great... maybe just the camera movement is a bit jarring to get used to at first. Lots of great new details with damage and other things. Yah, I'm damn excited!

There's definitely stuff to clean up, including lighting and the camera, but I think this is a more unfinished game than previously assumed - I'll be surprised if it comes out this year. Taking into account how much work is left to do, I think this work in progress is promising.

Yah, it's almost like the gamma levels are too bright, and James damn hair is wrong and WAY too bright, haha. I think this is PS5 footage which may mean they had to drop some details compared to the first trailer, which may have been PC with max settings and ray tracing, etc. They still have the rest of the year to work on it if its going to be a 2024 release... so there's hope. The Medium and LOF 2023 looks stunning on PC, so I think this will turn out great looking. I think the video running at 30 fps is part of why its a bit jarring to me. @@thegamingmuse

James is bleached blonde lmao, that's definitely something that stood out. But yeah, I think this is definitely stuff that will be fixed and cleaned up in the final game.

you are the only youtuber that talks about silent hill and I respect. The others are only disgusting people who make clickbait titles and say always negative things about the series and cannot respect other's work.

Only over the shoulder gameplay, no fixed camera angles, quick time events, animations feeling clunky and cut off, the strange peeling monsters. Im worried to say the least.

I think the angles are yet to be implemented. That would probably be something done late in the game, since you gotta build your world and characters before you can frame them. Stuffs not done, I'm hopeful, but we'll see where it goes.

I play many of them for that, but not SH, personally. Besides the first one, SH doesn't feel as streamlined as your Clock Towers and Fatal Frames where gameplay and storytelling feel integrated and really frightening.

this is the "combat" trailer, so presumably they focused on it on purpose. hopefully the final game will be more exploration than action; for me that's where the series has always shined.

Are you going to comment on the interview that the developers posted about the game on the official silent hill KZread channel? I think the game was planned to be released in 2022/2023. The interview with the developers was in 2022 and the game happens in 2022 also.

I wished they remade the first game, it's long overdue. I understand the hype , but I am glad it is not releasing soon. It does not feel like a big-budget remake like the Resident Evil 2. The combat part of the trailer throws me off.

Blair witch was fine, a really pretty game without a lot to say, and Layers of Fear 1 and 2 were also beautiful, with neat graphics and effects, and little to say. They definitely have a lot to learn in the writing department, but presumably, if they aren't writing this story, there's nothing to worry about. We'll have to wait and see.

Dang gone it…a freaking year+ ugh.

Not going to voice all my concerns here, but those combat animations and sounds are horrible 💀 enemies shouldn't slide a foot back when hit with a bat. Their feet should remain visibly planted on the ground like when hit in the original. In this they are stumbling and sliding around like fleshy feet have no friction with wood or concrete 😔

This was so depressing. With Ascension being a horrible failure right out of the gate and Short Message having the most embarrassing character writing in the series with poor acting across the board. The theme and undertones in it weren't on the nose. It was right up it. The SH2 remake trailer was worse than what I thought it was going to be, especially those awful quick time events, glad they are pulling ideas from Homecoming. I'll definitely be pirating SH2. If it's good I'll buy it. The only game with potential is F. It's depressing being alive to see this franchise crash and burn for a third time in my life. Edit - why have we not seen Angela or Eddie? I'll bet they couldn't modenlrnize them for a overly sensitive audience and just straight up cut them out for future dlc to complete the incomplete package that is the remake.

I hated the trailer, not only does the combat look utterly bootlegged, and outdated that's highly reminiscent of Homecoming, but the art direction looks quite off and inconsistent, Silent Hill: Alchemilla have pulled off a better art direction 10 years ago, on an engine even older than that. Even the music is just out of place.

It's definitely unfinished; watching it again, you can see sections with no lighting and shadow where there's no flashlight, and sections that have those elements implemented. That's why it looks off and inconsistent, because it is, it's not done. The portions with James walking around feel like attempts to show the unfinished town, not so much to show a finished game. The portions with combat seem to have actual lighting and shadow implemented and look far more promising, depending on your stance about the combat. There's more to clean up, but the WIP is looking good.

@@thegamingmuse I was referring strictly to the art direction, not the technical inconsistencies, there are a handful of reasons why the og trilogy looked so good despite the technical limitations. The game looks more like a modern Resident Evil game that pays the minimum homage to SH, I don't feel Masahiro Ito in this, I don't feel Akira Yamaoka, visual direction boiled down to generic game horror, music boiled down to generic rock. I'm sorry that I wasn't able to join you guys in this excitement, but unless the game is launching next year from now, I have no optimism towards this. Bloober Team's skills are in lackluster philosophical narratives, and missing the point. I'm not asking for 100% autistically faithful adaptation of the game(s) we love so much, I'm asking them to at least make their remake look like a Silent Hill game. Give Silent Hill: Alchemilla a try, please and thank you.

@@mDayShamangahabash 100% agree with you, though I think the terrible art direction and horrible combat will still be the least of this remakes problems, because I think the story will be butchered even more. We can see again in this trailer that subtlety will likely be completely removed from this remake with the "Reap what you sow" message on the wall. They might as well put the IT'S TRAUMA stickers on the wall for good measure. A lot more issues like this were visible in the previous trailer. It's a shame that Bloober only keep confirming what I expected from them from the very beginning.

I’m am stoked for SH2 remake: I will wait to criticize til after it comes out. We bought the PS5 too in hopes SH would be out. But have to wait another year it seems 😢 Final Fantasy fan!!! Yesss….my favorite of all time FF10, FFX2, 13-2. I play those over and over and over. But Ten is the best story and gameplay . I’m playing FF7 remakes enjoying so far
