I am MORE than ok with remakes in the style of the reported FFIX remake. A Game doesnt need cutting edge graphics to look beautiful. What I want in these remakes and remasters are more QOL and more content over graphical improvements.

Especially with speed. I can't go back to play FF9 again because of how slow the game is. Doesn't matter if your playing the original PS1 or remastered version with option to speed things up, the game is still slow.

There will still be graphical improvements. That’s expected in a remake. There’s already a port on Nintendo Switch, PS4, and PC.

It never was turn based. ATB is not turn based. It is menu based. Menu based input =/= turn based necessarily. The only turn based FFs are 1-3 and 10.

I hope the Dragon Quest part is true. We know DQ3 2D-HD Remake is still alive and coming soon. But remaking other titles from 4-9; maybe 1 & 2 as well, would be awesome. And maybe we'll get 10 if it gets localized.

Really hoping one of those DQ projects is Dragon Quest Builders 3 even though I know it won't be. But realistically speaking they're probably just talking about DQ3 Remake, DQ12 and DQ10 which is apparently still being worked on.

I hope for the Final Fantasy 9 remake, Square expands the characters stories. Freya's original arc was great but finishes way to quick and she becomes a background character, while Amarant's arc is non-existant.

What's really bad is that if you don't ask Amarant about his past (as Freya), you never know what the deal is between him and Zidane. I thought he would tell us when he was ready after some character development, but, no he never did.

I approve of everything auggested here. More of Freya's story, and giving Amarant a story in the first place, sounds very good to me. If they just make it so we can choose when we pop off our Trance mode, I'd be good as gold.

I'd shit bricks if Dragon Quest IX got a remake. I loved that game, its light-hearted nature was so refreshing. Plus being able to fight final bosses from previous Dragon Quests was the icing on the cake.

With both composer Koichi Sugiyama and just recently character designer Akira Toriyama having left this mortal coil. Square-Enix is gonna have some humongous shoes to fill regarding the upcoming Dragon Quest XII. Hopefully, they’ll pull it off without a hitch. Have faith.

​@@Mysticgamer Toriyama build a whole studio since the 90s (or 80s, I'm not sure now) that already formed a generation of artists capable of imitating his art style. Also Dragon Ball Super has been drawn by a hand picked artist, not drawn by Toriyama. So it's another option of capable artist, that can imitate his style very well. The only issue really is finding out how competent they are at designs, that is the actual creative part.

and with the 3DS server shutdown the 54 DLC dungeons ITS version of DQ7 had shut down WITH it so yes it needs PS4 PS5 Switch port with the DLC dungeons intact but accessibly OFFLINE and by then I mean similar to the 15 FIXED NPC's that join the Migrant town itself AS BUYABLE Migrant town Casino items.

think the 1-3 switch ports will age like milk. By the time the switch dies then your back to square 1 again with the acessibility. PC has a better track record of archive old content some of which on steam can date back to a decade it's only when a company decides to switch over for a remastered version in it's place which even then there are some exceptions

What they're doing with FFIX is what I had wished they had done with FFVII. I don't need the the wheel reinvented every time.

I am hoping to see Dragon Quest V remake soon. They can use Dragon Quest M: The Dark Prince game base to do V remake. It will be my dreams coming true.

As a kid, Dragon Quest 9 was a big hit among my friends. They were the kind of demo of kids whose only other JRPG was pokemon. I feel like they might remake it some day, or make a game similar to it.

I'll still take these leaks with a building-sized grain of salt. Midori may have a perfect record (for now, regardless of how they vet the sources which i respect), but that doesn't mean the companies won't cancel them later on (especially with upcoming layoffs). However, I will be genuinely excited once the official announcements happen

They also confirmed 140 million dollars in losses from dropped projects. So, doubtlessly some of these are that. I'm also just personally sad that Square's AA experimental stuff may be dead though. But that's personal stuff.

Hoping for news the DQ3 remake drops soon! The Gameboy Color port was my first game in the series and the very first game I bought with my own money from mowing lawns when I was a kid. So hyped for that nostalgia hit!

I bought DQ 1-3 for GBC 20+ years ago and just sat on them.... Finally played DQ1 on my GBA SP, and I loved it so much I replayed it on switch right away. The GBC variants aren't the best, but I'm still glad that I own them. Wish I played them 20 years ago.....

The GBC versions might not be the best, but they're still the best versions officially released in the west. The new DQ3 remake does look great though, so I hope they do a 1+2 remake in the same style.

I thought the odd battle graphics mixed with a SNES overworld would have thrown me off, but it works, feels like you're playing a low budget Akira Toriyama anime. The "best" version is completely subjective. NES is the most authentic, but most grindy. The SNES fan translation is better, but easier. GBC honestly is probably the worst version. I'd suggest to try the switch version when it goes on sale. I bought mine for like $3.

@@michaelp4122 It's not just the battle graphics, the character sprites don't even match the background resolution so they don't blend properly. Plus the Switch version of 3 is missing the extra stuff from the SFC and GBC versions. Personally I'd rank the SFC versions as best, followed by the GBC versions, then the NES versions and finally the Switch versions.

​@@eyeball226Why GBC over NES? Less grinding? I didn't notice the difference in resolution having just beaten the GBC version first. I'm going to hold off on 3 until the 2.5 remake. Going to start DQ2 soon.

I am cautiously hopeful for the FFIX remake. IX is my all-time favorite game. I am also very much excited for DQXII. I hope we hear of release windows or at least see some gameplay footage sometime soon.

As a huge Final Fantasy fan, while 7 is my favourite for nostaliga reasons, I always felt 9 was underrated and the last "true" Final Fantasy game. It was more true to the roots of the series than 6, 7, and 8 were, and honestly hope this leak is true. 9 deserves it's moment since it was so overshadowed by 10.

@@cencil6497 it's just the awkwardness of you can't do a simple port of it you have to reconstruct it, if you want the remaster to be the definitive experience. no idea if they still have the source code archived they might have and square are pretty good with it unlike sega that lost everything pre-lost world

I love how the ff7 remake trilogy is turning out. But I'm so excited about FF9 continuing the ATB system (if true) because I want to see how they'll evolve it for Todays Gens. Really dive deeper into magic sword stuff and other possiblities, the scenes the acting, the music omg. I wont keep my fingers crossed but the idea of a FF9 remake just makes me so happy to be alive. Would love to finally dive into dragon quest also.

Definitely stoked for 12 and 3 HD remake. I personally don't care for the steam/PC ports. But it gets a bigger audience to square when it comes to DQ. And I believe that's a good thing

I really hope that ff9 truly is here, I love ff9 and it deserves more recognition than it does it's such a beautiful game.

Final Fantasy IX (not only being my top favorite FF game) is the game involving my craziest memory of all the rpgs I’ve played. The first time playing it I was a very impatient player that used cheating devices to get through games faster. When I cheated in FF9 I enabled the game to unlock every skill, but I couldn’t shut any of them off. This caused my physical attacks to heal enemies and I wasn’t able to obtain higher level spells. Therefore I had to complete the game with only level 1 attack magic. I learned my lesson and have much more patience now.

I refuse to believe any of these games are ever coming out 😢 FF9 has always been my favorite and I feel like I’ve been eternally strung along at this rate 😂 If we don’t get hot news about DQ3 HD and DQ12 on Dragon Quest day I’m going into a sadness coma. DQ3 has always been a comfort game for me so really really looking forward to that

Final Fantasy 8 needs a remake with all its broken mechanics in place.

Hyped for some more DQ news and FFIX!

I can’t believe more people aren’t demanding more of it, but the low-poly FF7 models they use for Fort Condor and Gold Saucer stuff in Rebirth look so unbelievably good that I really want a game done entirely in that style. The aesthetic they use for those mini-games is all I ever wanted from a Final Fantasy VII remake to begin with and I know I’m not alone in feeling that way. I’d prefer it if modern Square left Final Fantasy IX alone after the way they’ve handled VII, but if we’re gonna be getting a remake anyway I’d at least be more willing to look past their efforts to tarnish IX’s legacy if they used a similarly low-poly style. I think the highly stylized characters of IX would transfer so much better to that than having them look hyper-realistic like every other modern AAA game attempts to do. That being said, I do think FFVIII would be way more fitting for the “yet another generic looking Unreal game” style that’s been plaguing the industry since the original also went for a more grounded, realistic art style.

Oh maybe we'll get Kingdom Hearts in Last Cloudia. They've already had a few collabs with Square Enix. Star Ocean 2, Valkyrie Profile, FullMetal Alchemist, Nier Automata, and Secret of Mana & Trials of Mana.

SO looking forward to DQIII HD. Will be a guaranteed buy for me. Also hoping that someday we get a proper port of DQVIII on PC / current consoles. Like, literally just stick the PS2 original in an emulator running at 4k and so many geeks will scream with joy.

The FF9 bonus stuff is already usable in FF14 tho. Its ok tho cuz i know not everyone plays it to know how its bonuses work. =)

FF9 is still my fave of the whole series.

Necessary evil, but I guess if we want to get all these classics get ported or remake or modernized to Steam/PC, we need to buy and support Square's products on Steam.

I would love it if they would do the Kingdom Hearts games on the switch. I think that it would get them a lot of revenue considering how popular the system has been and how popular the Kingdom Hearts franchise is.

Here's hoping that they'll port and remaster the older DQ for the Switch too. I can't wait for FF9 remake. It's my first and favorite, so I'm hoping that positive changes will be done for it. Like maybe: -Make Beatrix as a playable character -Have a way for Steiner to have something that will link up to whatever Magic Vivi learns and enchant them to his sword instead of needing to have Vivi ALL the time when he's not there -Have Alexandrite as an Add-on to Summon Alexander. I find it a waste that it was never able to actually be used by Dagger. -Not sure if anyone is crazy enough to actually make Tetra Master GOOD though. Triple Triad still seems more fun, unless they give some other uses for the cards in the game, other than as a side quest. Maybe something similar to Card Modding them into other items perhaps? -Make Excalibur 2 accessible not as some speed run prize, but something else. Not some ridiculous limited time constrained quest between goals. I want to complete the game while having fun, NOT rushing and possibly missing everything, including scenes and items too. Besides. . . I love Chocobo Hot and Cold. Still hate the Ozma battle though. DX

-Beatrix was playable. Though I understand what you meant was as a permanent party member. -It doesn't make any sense for Steiner, who knows nothing about magic, to be able to make use of Vivi's magic without Vivi. Instead, perhaps they adopt FFX's party swapping mechanic to make battles without one or the other feel less restrictive. -In FF9, Alexander was bound to Alexandria Castle. This is why it telepathically called Garnet and Eiko specifically to that tower even though they had all four of his gem fragments well before that point. -Fully agree for Excalibur 2. I despise speed runs. Especially in a 40 to 60 hour+ JRPG. Nobody wants to waste hours upon hours figuring out how to optimize their times through a game that long just to fall short of the mark and have to spend all that time doing it again. It's not worth it. Give me a super boss that forces me to utilize all of the game's mechanics over that nonsense any day.

Heck, How about bringing The Ruby etc. Weapons as secret secondary bosses for each of the Elemental Shrines after returning from Terra, and have them drop fragments for Alexander, and clearing Omega Weapon gives out Excalibur 2? Or have the items be dropped by them from the Memoria area bosses instead. Beating Ultima Weapon as the Memoria gatekeeper will have to be first to unlock the other weapons, and might as well be how Zidane gets his Final weapon, but I prefer Chocobo Hot and Cold. Or, somehow bring Knights of the Round summon as a Multi-phased boss in the ruined castle area in Memoria, and clearing it gives Excalibur 2? Maybe even earn that summon too might be cool, and fits right with Garnet becoming a queen with her knights after all.

@@saintfayde4438 Understandable. Just a suggestion to somehow include the pieces that I want for Alexander to be a summon. That's why I would've preferred something else, like when beating the elemental shrines, we get pieces, rather than adding more from other FFs.

Omg remember that Dragon Quest game on DS that was multiplayer? if they remaster that junk and made it mobile and crossplatform that would be sick!

I want dragon quest D's ports 7 and 8 to come to consoles along with a western release of dragon quest x offline. And I would love a heavy remaster of legend of the dragon which is my favorite game of all time

I wish they would release for real the dragon quest ones we did not get in America, and rerelease all the ones form wii and DS that I did nor get to play! That would so cool to be able to play all 12 Dragon quest games on Switch 2! I would buy all 12 again!

There's a good number of fun DQ things I'd like to see. But aside from updated versions of 4-9 (especially 5, 7, 9 please!), I'd absolutely love a DQ Heroes 3.

With the Dragon Quest 3 2.5D remake, it boggles my mind how there are no character animations for the commands they execute in battle. It's zoomed out to display them when inputting their commands, but then it zooms in solely on the monsters when the combat round takes place! WTF is that?! It's like the opposite of the Phantasy Star games for the Sega Genesis!

I'm sorry but what are you complaining about? A feature that doesn't exist until Dragon Quest VIII? From I to VII all combat is seen through the character or characters point of you/ technically your point of you. It would be great don't get me wrong, but you're upset they're being fateful to the original game and all its other remakes?

About that I still doubt that DQ10 BOTH the ONLINE and OFFLINE version will leave Japan for a English version but DUE to the 3DS shutdown THAT version of DQ7 needs a PS4 PS5 Switch port with the DLC dungeons INTACT but gotten OFFLINE similar to the FIXED NORMAL 15 tablet dungeons in game ie from 54 RANDOM NPC's.

Rather than adding new characters to FFIX, hopefully they’ll actually give some story arcs to Freya and Amarant

I know that like a majority of people, but thanks for telling it to those that doesn't know.

Kingdom Hearts making more outside collabs is interesting, as is (hopefully native) versions of KH on Switch 2. It feels like they have taken a good long while to get a whole new face of Kingdom Hearts out the door and will do everything in their power to inundate the world with a wave of Kingdom Hearts to maximize awareness of the story... which means them taking so ungodly long to get it on Steam and Switch might actually turn out for the better! Stranger things have happened... The DQ news is alao interesting, as it feels like they're trying to actually make DQ a bigger name world-wide. I can understand why- it must have stung on some level to know they have a major franchise but pretty much only in Japan, when it could be so much bigger. Here's to hoping they pull it off. As for FF9... give me a fully fleshed out arc for Freya and Amarant and the ability to choose when the Trance Mode goes off, and I'm a happy camper. That is all... graphics can be on Trials of Mana levels as far as I care, as long as the animations are full- please no more canned animations, or using a limited set like, the same kind of "fist-pump" / "embarrassed shuffle or pulling down wizard hat over the eyes" / "Steiner shaking his hands in rage". If they have a "lower grade" of polygonal density but make the animations mamy, fluid and feel like an actual animated movie? That. That's the ideal I want.

If FFIX does get another party member please somehow make it Beatrix.

Great news. I really hope that DQ3 remake comes out soon it looks beautiful. As for the FF9 remake Im really not sure. It is my favourite game but I do not want it to come out looking like World of FF. Not my style.

How about them doing all old DQ games to current consoles&PC. As bonus they include the original game(s) not all of them were released in Europe/NA

if they're remaking dragon quest games I hope they do IX (the angel one) that game is what got me into dragon quest and I loved to do the 100+ quests it had to offer and I hope to do those quests one day. however if they do they should debuff the Paladin class a bit, its too OP. You could just have a whole party of Paladins and bulldoze even tough bosses.

Damn coukd the playstation get some love on the dragon quest spinoffs. Im invested in the series to. Especially the spinoff with erik and his sister. Id rather of had some of these switch releases then ff16. I know im probably in the minority on that but it is what it is.

i really would not mind a DQ 9 remake lol seeing as how it never released beyond the og DS and im waiting for the FF9 remake like many fans love that game

This time around I'll actually finish FF9. Kinda gave up on it last time around. I think I expected it to be like FF7 or FF8.

The FF9 remake (?) is interesting to be sure. I get the feeling that it's one of those games that came out too soon; i.e. it could have been so much better suited to the PS2 instead. And while I'm not the biggest fan of the game itself (call me basic but 7 and 10 are my personal faves), it has a lot of good qualities and I'm curious what exactly the leak meant by it still feeling like the classic game but being more than an HD remaster. Maybe something along the lines of how Second Story R went? Also yes eagerly awaiting DQ Day. There's been nothing but kind of worrying news surrounding 12 (and I guess, Squeenix in general) the past few months.

I'm still hoping for a ff6 remake. My absolute favorite that I still replay and enjoy

I'd give most anything for a Dragon Quest Builders 3. Not going to hold my breath but it would be a much welcomed surprise.

Cant wait for FF9 Remake. I need more FF. Played all of then from 10 and upwards. The only bummer is the turn based combat and random enemies. My 2 most disliked mechanics

NERDGASM!! I'm so excited. This was great news to hear this morning with my coffee. There are two dragon quests that came stateside that I've never played. Dragon Quest V and Dragon Quest IX. I picked up IX and just started playing it. Dragon Quest V I need to sell a kidney or something in order to get. 😆

Nothing for FFT HD or Saga Frontier 2. I'll just have to hold out hope. SE has no idea the depths I'd go to for a DQ8 Remake.

Mixed bag for me, DragonQuest 3 and 12 I'll definitely buy, FF9 Remake I'm on the fence whether to buy since I've already played the original, KH I will pass on.

I was late to the DQ party as my first one was DQ7 (yeah, look at my username...I was a FF fanboy in younger days...so what). I would love to just see some more 2D/3D "Pixel Remasters" made of the older games on modern consoles (namely Steam, but I'm biased).

Crazy excited for FFIX Remake. Hopefully they stay true to the original. DQ III needs to be released soon I've been waiting to play my Switch copy ever since they announced the HD-2D version.
