He's living the dream, doing multilingual interviews!! Really cool!

I would like to speak 2 languages on c2 than 6 on b1. Being a "poliglot"(6+ languages) is pathetic. You will never be really good in any of your foreign languages. It means you stay monolingual for the rest of your life ask any of these "poliglots" if they write about their languages in their resume. They don't because they don't speak them actually.
This display of fluency in the several languages you've spoken wihin this relatively short tour of New York should inspire us all.

This is why I want to go to New York. There are so many different cultures mixing. It's a huge melting pot.
Wow
God, New York is a polyglot's and a language nerd's dream come true. So cool.

Diantre! I'm Puerto Rican!!! wuuuuuuuuuu

Great!
His Spanish is surreal, he sounds like a native. I cannot judge his French, Italian or Irish 'cause I don't speak any of those languages, but his accent is quite convincing.
Woow I loved this!
Instead of saying "è bene?" You can say "giusto?" which is more natural. Your skills are so inspirational! Especially your pronunciation.. lovely
I was so happy when he mentioned Haitian creole
As a Cajun, I will say, there are quite a few people here who speak Cajun French (be warned. Cajun and creole mean two different things here. People, language, and heritage). It's mostly the older generations but some younger people are learning because a few collages have set it up as classes for summer learning. Some high schools too. He wants to see the difference between Acadia (canada) and Acadiana (the heart of Cajun country in Louisiana). I welcome him. Perfect time now as carnival season just started. Yet, I am only half Cajun. My mom is from another country.
What an inspiring video! It's always beautiful to see how, even though we may be different in some aspects, at the end of the day we are just people, trying to be happy! Variety is key. As we say here in Spain: ¡"En la variedad está el gusto!"
Absolutely fantastic video. Super motivating! Your videos never cease to inspire me!
You sound like a Native Spanish speaker! Im shocked!
I'm italian and I must say that Matthew speaks Italian maybe better than Hugh. Hugh's pronunciation is quite good, but you can hear that he is an English speaker and he sometimes makes some mistakes. Matthew's pronunciation is not totally perfect, but it's really really good and there are no grammatic mistakes
Awesome! I was hoping you would stop at Zum Schneider in the east village. My favorite authentic German nook in Manhattan.
Excellent video !
loll that one girl who knows English as a second language and still has an American accent and speaks Spanglish 😂
why am I crying I love this video so much
this is so inspiring
That was awesome! I agree with that guy - this is also my idea of America. It must be so cool tor travel one city and feel like you have traveled half the world. This guy doing multilingual interviews and Manhattan's culture are so inspiring :)
I think this is one upside to living in big cities Like in Houston A lot of Vietnamese Spanish Tagalog Portuguese French and I guess Korean are being heard more and more but it's surrounded by areas that have German heritage

how people can dislike this video?
Amazing !!! I’m impressed of how many languages can you speak??? I’m struggling with a 3rd language but this definitely makes me wanna learn a 3rd and maybe a 4th language if possible :))
Moré vídeos like this please!!
THERE IS MUCH OUT THERE AND WE ARE BUT LITTLE BEINGS THAT DONT MATTER BUT DO AND THE EARTH IS SO BIG AND CRAZY AND i really enjoyed this video, thank you c:
very good! I love your videos. will you put hebrew and irish on babbel for the learners? because it will be so interesing to learn new languages above the current languages that exist on the site :). thaaanks
amei!!!
Even though I was born and raised in California, I always would love to travel to NYC. Explore the whole city practicing any Of the languages I want to learn. That’s my dream! I’m barely 20 years old & I was thinking I want to learn more languages and be like him and Arieh Smith (Xiaoma) appreciating people’s cultures.

It will be cool to see a polyglot travel to an indigenous community and learn their language
oh my god this guy speaks italian so well and he's got a northen accent??? so cool
Good video. I am Irish and I can only speak a few words "cúpla focal" of Irish and that is after studying it for about 10 years in total. That is the same as all Irish children in Ireland. We are not taught the language properly and it is very sad imo. We are taught just enough in order to pass a test and once we pass that test then nobody cares if we speak it well or not.

13ritalove A long time ago the British invaded Ireland as they did so many other countries. We rebelled and that is why there is a Republic of Ireland and a Northern Ireland. The North is still under British rule. It is interesting if you google it. This is why we speak English.

Yeah, I think another big thing is the conflicting dialects. You'll just be getting to grips with one dialect when 'hey, how about a completely different one?'. It's really sad that so few people speak it fluently but I always feel so blessed when people speak it to me, even if it's just the cúpla focal. It's nice to speak in my native language and it shows so much respect for our country's history and culture.
He spoke Italian better than the italian guy ahahah
amazing. come to India

NYC, specifically Brooklyn has many Russian speakers too.
Boy oh boy. New York City. I suppose that's the place to live & work if I want to be able to work in a multilingual environment... Really shooting for the stars though...
vous parlez la langue française parfaitement .
You don't hear a different italian, you just hear dialects mostly, dialects are languages and in italy we have thousands. So it is not another italian but dialects used perhaps by old people that teach their sons and so on.. =)
Via akĉentoj estas mirindaj! :O
please notice the difference between these two expressions: "sono affamato" = "I'm starving", "ho fame" = "I' m hungry"... "sono affamato" is not uncorrect but it implies you are very very hungry, almost suffering starvation...
@martinet1985

I think he's perfectly aware of that to be honest. in English we sometimes use I'm famished to mean I'm starving as well. 😊

qual o signo de vcs??
Just a quick observation on his Italian: "cheesecake" is also called "cheesecake" in Italian, we don't translate it like the spanish do, "torta di formaggio" sounds quite bizarre, I immediately thought "is it salty?" XD And also the question "è bene?" is not natural, we say "va bene?", to ask if a sentence is grammatically correct. I think he had some interfrences with Spanish there.
I’m Mexican-American. I’m not into too… too much of the Mexican- American culture I like the Mexican culture more from Mexico. But I would love to try authentic Mexican and other Latin American foods from NY. I’m also not into too.. too much of the Spanish language but if I want to speak it, I can only speak a bit over these communities and continue learning some more and along with different dialects too!
😍😍😍😍😍😍
His Spanish... Dude...
I could go with out subtitles until german, haha but im learning german!
Oooooooooh God how aaaaaaawesome and motivating this is!!!!!
How the heck do you build up a language learning like from French to Zulu for example for a native English apeaker? Start from the Germanic languages if you fing them easiest to slavakian languags to Greek etc from beginner to advanced? That is if I can ever get my head out of this sims 3 game I like.
the italian-american guy has more accent than the Irish one. 😂

❤️🇬🇹❤️
He needs to improve a little bit Italian, but anyway he is really good. Considering languages he actually speaks, he is maybe a robot ahahhaha
The Irish was heartbreaking to see. I believe there must be daoine líofa le Gaeilge. Companies like Babble have such an opportunity to take that and change it, I hope it happens as a Gaeilgoir mé féin
Anyone notice how similar "how are you" is in spanish and irish? cómo estás tú and (going phonetically here) cono estatu? i know theyre both indo european but damn thats still crazy

BoomhauerSixOneNine it amazes me how close is Irish to Spanish and Portuguese, even though they have completely different backgrounds - Latin for Spanish and Portuguese and Celtic for Irish.
@happytimes4u

Matheus G. S. Matheus G. S. Well theres actually some connection between Spain, Portugal and Celts. In the north of spain there's a few celtic regions, but the main one is Galicia, whos celtic people are said to be the ones that colonized Britain. And they have their own language (gallego) wich is almost like portuguese because long ago they were just one language (gallego-portugues) but then they split up. Dont know if this makes sense haha
In Malaysia, we say chaiyok instead of jia you
French Cowboys XD
Am I the only one who noticed he changed his accent in English every time he started speaking any language?

Chalynda Jackson "Chinese" is sort of the blanket word we use to include all dialects spoken in China, because they are indistinguishable to the English speaker's ear. But there are many different languages spoken in China. Mandarin is by far the most popular with over a billion speakers. Cantonese and Wu are also popular, around 60 million speakers each.
