    Every one says ali couldn't figure Norton out or that ali never beat norton in 3 fights but interestingly, the second fight ali had with Norton, ali actually fought one of his best fights. Skill-wise, this was one of the best performances ali put on post exile ali and for the entire decade of the 70's. Ali fought Frazier with heart. He fought foreman with strategy. But, ali always had to fight Norton will pure skill and out of all 3 fights with Norton, this was ali's most skillful.

    ali was sharp and ready to rumble . he always had trouble with fraizer and norton but found a way to win the fights. that's what a true champion does, he adapts to any situation. Also Ali's jab is just a beautiful thing to see. You could say Holmes had a better jab, maybe Liston or maybe even Lennox Levis. But watching ali flick his jab while dancing around in the ring... truly the greatest.

    For Emir Korkmaz. Yeah Ali had a beauty jab. Your. Right not as hard as Holmes. But Ali was better on delivery because his Balance was better than Holmes. Ali was grest and everyone felt bad becauze of taking all those punches wrecked bim. But...he took them. Better chin than Holmes too. shavers hit Ali more rivht hands like 70 of them. Holmes got dropped twice five yrs aftet Ali fought Shavers. If Shavets had hit Holmes like he hit Ali he would of been champ. Ali had alot of flaws. Sucker for left hooks, christ cooper at 190 had him out round 4 in 63. Dundee cut his glove gave him 5 minutes to recuperate because he got dropped with 8 seconds left in round. Imagine Tyson at 220 hitting Ali like that..couldnt beleive Frazier let his son fight Tyson. He must of wanted him to see what it was like to get hit by Foreman!

    This was the fight out of the 3 that Ali won, he did excellent here, but man Norton did catch up with some hard shots, normally Ali has such strength of taking shots and coming back without much noticeable difference, but here he was holding on to Norton when he landed hard, Ali hasn't held on to many fighters, which leads me to believe that Norton was an underrated puncher, given Ali's reaction to some of them

    hungao, if you look up the stats from the Ali/Norton fights, you will learn just the opposite is true. Norton landed more jabs, landed more power punches and landed both at a higher percentage rate than Ali. The same is true in a number of Ali's fights. Because of all the hype surrounding Ali, (he being the source of most of it), perception is much different than reality. Here are the stats from the second Ali/Norton fight, in which Ali was declared the winner. Jabs landed: Ali 71, Norton 94 Jabs thrown: Ali 345, Norton 289 Percentage of jabs landed: Ali, 21%, Norton, 33% Power punches landed: Ali, 128, Norton, 192 Power punches thrown, Ali 364, Norton, 346. Percentage of power punches landed: Ali, 35%, Norton, 55% Total punches thrown: Ali, 709, Norton, 635. Percentage of punches landed: Ali, 28%, Norton, 45% Norton landed more jabs than Ali, despite throwing fewer, Norton landed more power punches than Ali, despite throwing fewer, Norton landed jabs, power punches and total punches than Ali, despite throwing fewer, and landed them at a 45% rate, while Ali only landed 28% of his punches. Ali was a good boxer, but his greatest weapon by far was his mouth. That enabled him to be awarded the victory in a number of fights he actually lost.

    In the 1st 6 rounds, it was a shutout. Then, in the last 6, Norton got no more than 3 or 4 rounds where AIi got 3 or 2 rounds in the last 6. So, despite the drama attached to this fight and an entertaining fight(where rounds were scored 1 pt for 1 won by the judges), it was 9-3 or 8-4 AIi. This fight exposed Norton as far as boxers are concerned: he could do nothing on moving opponents. He had to wait until they stopped. To me, the only reason those fights were close: 1st fight -> Norton breaks his jaw at the end of the 2nd round. Watch for the big punch that AIi rolls into instead of away from(giving the punch more power). AIi was game, but fought like he did when didn't train(beatable to certain opponents). The pain had something to do with that. 3rd fight -> I guess AIi wanted to prove that he could dominate without dancing; he couldn't. But, Norton could have won this, because of that. He rarely body punched in this fight which was not like Norton. On top of that, he was only landing no more than 2 head shots in most of the rounds that did not have the same punishing effect of the 2nd fight. But, the reason that Norton had a chance in this one was because AIi did not dance!

    I mostly agree with you. Ali controlled the first half of the fight. Round 5 is could be Ken's though, very close. Ken controlled the second half of the fight, with Ali obviously winning round 12 and perhaps round 9. I had 7-5 Ali, but a clear win for him. That said, Ken won the first fight and was completed robbed in the third.

  • @pattrell5257

    @pattrell5257

    Жыл бұрын

    @@tonyc7301 Watch the 1st 6 again, but I do not see how Ken won 1 of those rounds. He probably did not land 10 punches in the entire 6 rounds. And, AIi was doing want he wanted, culminating in a great 6th round! In the last 6(7 through 12), it was more back and forth. Ken did no better than 4-2 or 3-2-1. This meant, that on the scorecards, all he had to do was stand up until the end and he should have won a unanimous decision that was not close on any of the cards. If 2 point rounds were a possibility(which they were not), Ken would have the edge 2 to 1 on those(don't forget round 6 for AIi). Or possibly 1-0 for Kenny*, but--even if that was a scoring possibilty--this would not be enough to still avoid Ken losing a very decision. If there were 2 pt rounds, then I could see 7-5 being a possible score(because Ken edged AIi by 1 on 2 point rounds either way you slice it). *Even if the judge scores like Lederman, where they don't score 2 points unless there is a knockdown or a completely one-sided round, This would still be 2 extra points for Ken if they had scored it that way...
