Different fighters different styles. This also happens with Sports Teams. Even certain very good sports teams have a more difficult time beating certain opponents styles than most other teams.

This was one time Ali's confidence was proven to be over-confidence. Ali weighed in at 221? Norton was in great shape & he surprised Ali. Norton was one tough customer.

Weird how Foreman had no trouble destroying Norton and Frazier yet lose to Ali and Young. As great as Holmes and Ali were as boxers there was one fighter whose style of boxing was most difficult to defeat. That boxer was Norton. Holmes said fighting Norton in 1978 was the most difficult boxing match he ever had in his entire life.

I remember seeing this fight live on TV and my Dad walking in, then asking a bit sarcastically, what's happening to your man Ali, he isn't doing so good and I said, "something is wrong with him, somethings not right" This was around the 3rd rd. I do believe. Great fighters prove something even in defeat & thats exactly what Ali does, by refusing to retire and fighting to the end with a broken jaw.

I'm sure I probably do. I have a big library of old VHS that I'm slowly trying to get transferred digitally and as I get them done I'm uploading the high quality stuff. It's kind of a slow process to get things transferred and encoded digitally, but as I run across and upload Foreman stuff I'll post a reply on here. Sometime this week I'll probably be uploading the complete Foreman-Morrison PPV broadcast. That's a first gen recording so it should look pretty good.

Shame Muhammad Ali had to get old and retire because he lost it with age because he was an excellent boxer. The best ever and he could dish out some serious damage but by the end of the 70's especially the 80's you could see Ali had nothing left to compete with or offer. But Muhammad Ali had nothing left to prove anyway as he's won many fights and he's the best boxer who ever lived because he's beaten some of the greatest boxers ever. He even didn't duck Larry Holmes even though he took a beating this guy wasn't scared and that's what bottle and balls Muhammad Ali had. He'd fight anybody.

33:37 It really must've very humiliating for Ali thanks to Kenny Norton. Norton did this again to Ali in their rematch bout but Ali was too smart in their second match up.

Frazier's style along with Norton's style was most difficult for Ali to fight against. Foreman's style was able to handle Frazier and Norton better. Ali admitted Foreman hit hard and dangerous but if he could get Foreman tired out by throwing punches he could counter attack Foreman. Getting Foreman to have to go longer than he was used to fighting his opponents was the key to beating him.
