Most concrete evidence I could find is a tweet from Trace himself clarifying that the flowers were sent to Crow not him in regards to an IMDB trivia entry. I'd link it but not sure if youtube would eat the whole comment for containing a link. Googling "mst3k kim cattrall flowers" should bring it up in the first few results. Kim also appeared as a special guest at the 96 MST3K Convention (4 years after this episode), introduced a Mads Are Back performance in 2018, and mentioned she had a crush on Crow in a 2020 US Weekly interview.

It's very simple, actually. Most adults in the world are dead due to some plague, leaving the kids who have formed themselves into motorcycle-riding, comic book-reading gangs. Leland (James Earl Jones's nephew) decides to leave a perfectly good naked girl behind, and join the "Clippers," and decides to reveal his mother and uncle's secret plot by making a film in which an innocent woman is sent to the gas chamber by the D.A. she was having an affair with. ...What's not to get?

The strange thing is, if you eliminate the plot points you just listed, this is a very coherent story. He goes to find the Clippers (better reasons could have been provided) & everything else, sequences actions etc. were way better than any James Bond film, none of which have any internal logic or make sense from one scene to the next. A little story editing & this could have been great! "Could have been."

This movie makes 1990 Bronx Warrior, Escape 2000 and Robot Holocaust all look like good movies with solid plots.
I have a confession: this has gone from an episode I couldn't get through to one of my favorites. I have actually learned to like the movie itself. This movie invokes the spirit of Red Dawn and Young Guns, the ambience of a foosball table at the skating rink, and the forced synth score reimaginings of westerns and fantasy movies of the day. If you didn't grow up in the 80s it's hard to explain, but Alien from LA has a similar vibe, and it's very nostalgic. Don't misunderstand, the movie still sucks, but it sucks in a very special and comforting way.
