I love this experiment. One of my all time favorites. The line “I didn’t know you were holding, my compadre” remains one of my favorite jokes.

The same actress, Ulla Strömstedt, played a repeating character on Flipper as a marine biologist and possible love interest to the dreamy Brian Keith. It turns out that Tom Servo was wrong. She was Swedish. Unfortunately our creepy girl passed away in 1986 at the young age of 46.
I was at a party once on a couch making out with someone while this episode played in the backround. I tried to stifle my laughter once too many times and ended up blowing snot on her face. Thanks, MST3K!

It looks like it was a blast to shoot. tons of attractive people, groovy psychedelics, and a free little richard performance.
Whenever I have a random celebrity crush, I wonder what my "Creepy Girl" ode to them would be. Haha! Tom Servo is the greatest!

Sometimes I get tired of the obvious overdubbing in old movies, but then I rewatch this movie with its constantly wind-tainted audio and I count my blessings.

Glad Joel was wearing the red jumpsuit in this episode. He looks better in red than blue.
On the subject of the animated opening, it's kind of interesting how there seemed to have been two dominant art styles of the 1960s: they are either in the style of the Pink Panther openings or they look like Yogi Bear.

Ah, the sixties, when random pop stars show up in weird places they'd never go on their own, and sing songs about things they'd never do. Good times, good times.
"What are we diving for?"/"That's none of your business." Joel: Then how will we know when we've found it? I do love a good logical riff
If you go to Google maps street view and find 163 Crescent Ave, Avalon, CA 90704, you can see the boardwalk area that they filmed the chase / fight scene towards the end of the film. The building with the round font visible in some of the shots is the current day spa. Most of the other buildings look like they have changed quit a bit.

I missed this the first time around, and even on reruns. I can't wait looks real bad! Plus little Richard is in it . Win!
analogkid01's description is spot on. Slap stick comedy does indeed die a slow and agonizing death in this movie. If not for the 60's bikini girls and Joel and the bots, it would be unwatchable.

Fingers O'Toole played by Robert Donner. He also played the whacked out morgue attendant in Agent for H.A.R.M.
I could listen to Joel spiral down about the 60s for hours, "...and then I had to take a bath in the front yard..."
7:37 Titles by Murakami-Wolf Films. The guy animating this was like "One day I'm gonna make the best reptile martial arts science fiction cartoon in syndication!"
Yeah for real thanks to Analogkid01. Many hours of laughing had and more to follow. Cheers MST3K lovers.
Joel's exasperation combined with Crow's expression is what makes the 20-minute mark sketch really funny.
