Love how you compare directly to competing motherboards. Very helpful!
For 3k(almost)subs you’re doing a great work 👍
this is a great board which will apparently never go over 99C (unless they're reporting temps in hex...). Once again, great job on the review (I actually learned about the 7-digit postcode doubling as a temperature gauge here!)
I enjoy your videos.
I love this board, went with an i9 12900k 5600mhz Dominator platinum Ddr5 and an EVGA FTW3 3080ti
Amazing video :D
I went with this board. i7 12700k , Vengeance 5600 ddr5, and EVGA 3080. I like the thought that it is a bit more future proof and is under $400. Plus I like the RGB dragon design.

I did the same except for a 3070 because not enough $ :(
Really good and not so expensive motherboard: I had bought it last year with 12700k/3080Ti/6000Mhz build. Now, I have 13700k/4080/6800Mhz (F5-6800J3445G16GX2-TZ5RK) and it still works perfectly fine: system is stable and temperatures are almost amazing. And when had I said that it's not expensive, for it's quality, capabilities and performance, I really mean it. Especially, comparing to a typically "reference" Rog Strix series motherboards. And I can't agree that this is "no-man lands" piece of tech: for me this is pretty ideal example of something that can be called pre-top solution. You want to have it all, but don't want to pay for a super quality adjustments in a top tier Rog Strix motherboard, cause you aren't planning to push you PC that much beyond the edge - this is literally the you need. Just like I can't say that the argument about DDR5 only is somewhat valid in this case: people are buying such motherboards for pretty expensive machines and RAM is relatively cheap, comparing to another parts and you can't make really valuable savings from buying DDR4 instead of DDR5. Especially now, when DDR5 become much more cheaper than it was till the 2021 or early 2022. I think, it's somewhat perfectly balanced between just good motherboards and top tier one. Of course, all of this are the solutions for high performance PCs and people shouldn't be bothered if they're not interested in to buy high-end components.
Good content.

Trying to! We do have a comparison of the ASRock RS and Asus TUF if you haven't seen that. Other baords are really hard to get at the moment, as I'm sure you're aware.
I was just thinking of getting it because of XMP 3.0 I am not sure if other MSI boards have it.
I got this board on ebay new for $200 US in December. Newegg had flooded the market from video card bundles, so I would like to think that I ate into the margins of a serial scalper who sold the board at a loss as the MSRP was $400 at that time. They were selling at least 3 or 4 new gpus as well. It's a nice board, but I think the MSRP should be around $325 or less. It's kind of this weird stopgap between medium and high end. Medium high end? I do really like the BIOS code readout LED, and if i go raptor lake down the road I stick with this board.

do you have any glitches or bugs in the bios? i saw another review that had terrible bios on the white "Force" variant
just picked this board up for $140!!
Are the two Pin headers (J1) to the left of the PUMP, CPU headers, for those two pin temperature probes that come with the board? I have this board but I've misplaced the manual, thanks for the video.
for the vrms probabaly overkill because it supports 13th gen which I'm getting for this board with ddr5
why you have 1.150 vcore on your cpu? for me z690 tomahawk ddr4 set auto to 1.210vcore
Any idea how to get the SATA ports to work my board does not recognize 5 of the SATA ports? I have updated the BIOS but no help? Using the DDR4 Version

That just sounds broken... RMA it. Ensure youve checked with multiple cables/Sata devices to be sure they aren't the problem.
Why this motherboard doesn’t have any argb hader?
Its like $300 now and ddr5 is cheaper. This is one of the better high end boards. Not bad for getting two pcie to cpu slots. If you dont need this feature then do not buy for sure.

What is that lil indicator on the top left that shows numbers on the board? On mine is sits around 28 when im chillin on the internet but then jumps up to 48-50 when im gaming.

The bios boot code display switches to thermometer once the pc is booted. It's showing CPU temperature.
If you want to use the optical out -- stay away from this board. It randomly crashes, and I have to reboot to hear any audio. No fix for this problem.
why i cant connect my ethernet cable onto this board?

Can you use USB bios flashback to update it to 13th gen, with the 13th cpu already installed? Will it ignore the cpu and update the bios?

Yes, the flashback is an entirely blind process. You don't even need CPU or ram installed, but you can do it with them in place if you like.

@@BuildPickerthanks. in the end I did it with only the ram installed (6000 corsair vengeance white) and it updated with no issues. I did go for a h100i cooler, but it had msi connectivity and compatibilty issues, so I'll be replacing it (it's for a 13600K). I think I should have opted for an air cooler.
I purchased an 17-12700KF and a NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070. Will this run on this board? This is my first build ever and do not want to mess this up. GPU insert on this board is a 5.0 and the 3070 is a 4.0 will that not work or affect GPU potential? Thanks in advance

@BuildPicker

Yes, the 12600K would run great for gaming and general use. At about £250 it's a great option. You could look at the 12700 if you do more demanding productivity work, just about as fast as a 12700K but cheaper.

I just recently purchased this board for around €300 with 2x 16GB DDR5 5600 sticks for around €150. I think this board has come into its own and the main conclusion in the video seems quite dated.

I can only review at the stated price which was $450/€450 at time of review. Obviously at a lower price it's much better value - but the Z790 version is right back up near $500. FWIW I've used this as my main board for nearly a year and it's been great, but I still struggle to see how it's $400 value Vs, for example, the tomahawk at $250-$280
Have had nothing but issues with this board piece of shit for the price.

What issues have you had? We've run it for 6 months now. The only major issue was Wifi inconsistency, but that has been fixed via a driver update for the AX610 Wifi chip.
