Mr. Crowley Bass Cover

Happy Birthday to Australian bassist, Bob Daisley, born on February 13, 1950.
I may have said this before, but there are only three things in life that are certain - death, taxes, and a strike against your KZread account for posting an "Ozzy" cover. Actually, I was notified that the video was already blocked worldwide as I was typing this message. I filed a dispute but that will only hold for a few days, then comes the strike. No big deal.
What can I say about Bob Daisley? Great, great bass player, song writer and lyricist who many believe was the power behind the Oz's throne.
After listening back to this, it sounds as if I'm dragging a bit in a few spots and for that, I am sorry.

    I'll never understand why the song ends in the best part, starting from 3:00. Randy could keep making his solo for at least 2 more minutes, making a total of 5:00.

    Yikes! Never knew this song had such a fast moving bass line at the end of the song... The mixing of these early Ozzy albums always favored the guitar, so it was hard to really hear the bass. It's great to finally hear these bass lines clearly... Thanks!

    +situationmoney There's a actually a few more notes than I'm playing. I believe Bob played with a pick most of the time, pretty quickly, but his tone didn't really give any indication of that. To my ears, his bass tone had a lot of prominent low mids and usually sat pretty nicely in the mix.

    Saturday morning 9:30 in my office and work and I get notice that you uploaded a new video. I was excited. Than I see it's an Ozzy song. I quickly say out loud, "is he fuc*in crazy? Quickest way to get get a strike". I then read your comment and laugh out loud :) 3:00 you really start cooking. Great playing once again. Thanks for sharing with us.

    +Constantine Isslamow Haha. Yeah, with certain artists, you can predict a blockage or a strike from a mile away. Supertramp and Ozzy are the absolute worst. I actually get nervous for you sometimes when you post multiple covers in such a short span of time. Have you noticed that more content owners are allowing your videos to play and monetizing them for themselves? I think that's great for both parties. Thanks for stopping by.

That's when you give all your personal info and the content holder has to decide if they really want to drag you into court. +TJH3113 Anytime Troy. My fave on that album is "Centre of Eternity" I wish youtube would figure out a way to monetize these things so the original artists get something. Most of us are doing these covers 'cause they're songs we love, and to show how fun it is to play an instrument. {and maybe show off a bit} We're not trying to infringe on anyone's property. I for one wouldn't mind an ad on one of my vids. I would think the extra exposure would be good for the artist. I'd heard the title "Hedwig & the Angry Inch", but didn't know what it was until you posted a cover. Then I went and check it out. {some cool music, btw} Does anyone under 40 even know who the hell Supertramp is? Sorry for the rant. Preachin' to the choir, I know :)

  • @TJH3113

    @TJH3113

    8 жыл бұрын

    +JimmyJames714 I remember that one too. Actually, I'm seeing more and more of my videos being monetized by the content owners, just as it should be. Did I cover something off of Hedwig? My god, I hope not because I don't have any recollection of it. I really do love the soundtrack and Lynn and I went to see it twice when it was on Broadway last year. Michael C. Hall (Dexter) played the title role and was fantastic. It was actually more concert than play, but that was fine. I beat Roger "Supertramp" Hodgkins into the ground. It took some time and around a dozen disputes but he backed off...for now anyway. Unfortunately, I have another ELO cover sitting around and my last one was pretty tough as well. I'll hold off on posting that one until I have nothing better to do.

  • @JimmyJames714

    @JimmyJames714

    8 жыл бұрын

    +TJH3113 You're right. Now that you mention it, I think it was a friend of yours who did the Hedwig cover. That part about Roger Hodgkins cracked me up. I'll be asking you for advice when the day comes that I get a strike. About a month ago I noticed that my cover of The Wind Cries Mary was "banned worldwide". I guess Jimi's relatives are trying to squeeze all that they can. Beatles covers are the same way too now it seems. I didn't feel like messing with it, so I just deleted the video.

    +TJH3113 To me Sharon Osbourne did more harm to the band lineup than anybody else. She does whatever she wants to take control of the songs and money. Ozzy never stepped up to help out former members either. Daisley, Kerslake, and Rhoads' family members are still getting left out of recordings, royalties, and intellectual property they should be entitled to. I guess it is part of the rock and roll lifestyle of people.

  • @TJH3113

    @TJH3113

    8 жыл бұрын

    +Earl Nuggets Yes, but, at this point it would be a very long video. I went a bit nuts this past year. I thought about doing a video for each bass individually but I'm not savvy enough to record my bass direct to the camera and have my voice heard at the same time. I could record the bass the way I used to, by miking the amplifier, but the sound would suffer a bit. I think that might be the way to go though as people can hear the basses on other covers and I'd probably speak more about the basses themselves and why I bought them and my general thoughts about them.

    You got a strike or youtube just notified you they are monetizing it over the copy right? I get that too and I don't understand why they target these cover videos when you can go look at videos that have nothing but the original music up for the world to see. Also don't get it when say I own the CD, am not making money off it. If I played in front of my friends rather then the camera and a few friends would watch me play in the 80's no one cared so long as I owned the CD and was not charging them. Should be no different here. The Kicker is, write the copyright holders and ask permission, they ignore you.
