    I have a White GT205 with the same engine and I am having a bear of a time figuring this all out. It has absolutely no flow out the fuel pump and it isn’t suctioning from the tank either. I managed to prime fuel to the pump with an pneumatic blower gun, but it would not go past the input of the fuel pump. Found your video when I put in “Fuel Pump Lawn Mower” in the search and was relieved when I saw the same engine I am working with and I suspected the fuel pump is out. I have ruled out pressure pulse and it has a new pressure line from the valve cover to the pump. That makes me highly suspicious the fuel pump went out. Your video helped confirm that. Off to get a fuel pump now!

    Great video and thanks for making it. My Ariens 42” lawn tractor with. 18.5 hp Briggs Intek has the gas tank that is higher than the carb. Do you think my lawn tractor has a fuel pump then? It acts like it’s not getting gas since I put some gas or Ether in the intake and it fires right up the seconds later dies. Gas flows out of the tank in the fuel line when I pull the fuel line off the carb. Doesn’t appear the carb bowl is filling up though.

    Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment. With the tank being higher it "" usually "" would not have a fuel pump. To be sure follow the fuel line from the gas tank to the carburetor, if you have a fuel pump it would be located close to the carb. Could be a clogged gas cap not venting causing a vacuum in the gas tank, try running it with the cap loose to see if it stalls. Check your fuel filter. Does it have fuel in it? If so does it still have fuel in in when it stalls? If it doesn't the fuel filter should be changed. If it does have fuel in it could be the float is sticking in the upper position holding the needle valve against the seat or the needle valve had stuck in the upper position stopping the gas supply. Let me know if this was of help. Stay safe, Joe Z

    I changed out my filter but the carburetor didn't have any fuel in it so maybe it is the fuel pump or a leak thank you

    Gary before you buy a fuel pump check your fuel line to make sure fuel is flowing through. If so carefully turn the engine over with the fuel line from the fuel pump to the carburetor disconnected & into a container. If fuel does not pump through then change the pump. Let me know if this was of help. Stay safe, Joe Z

    So I’m not getting gas into my fuel filter from the gas tank, can it be a fuel pump issue?

  • @JOEZEP54

    @JOEZEP54

    Жыл бұрын

    xavier thank you for stopping by. It can also be a bad or clogged fuel line. The ethanol gas will cause the inside of the fuel line to deteriorate & keep the gas from flowing. First try to start it with the gas cap loose to allow air into the tank. If the cap is bad it will cause a vapor lock. DO NOT RUN THE TRACTOR WITH THE CAP LOOSE IF IT SHOULD START. REPLACE IT Let me know if this was of help. Stay safe, Joe Z

    Jus a few quick checks. I would check the fuel line, make sure it is free of any debris. If it is the original it may be time to change it. I had a few that looked good on the outside but were collapsing inside. Check the fuel filter is it clean installed correctly? Are all 3 lines on connected to the fuel pump solid, no cracks? If this all checks out check the gas tank. Debris can be clogging the outlet. After all this checks out I would go back to the pump, it could be defective. I read a couple of blogs where some guys were complaining the new pump was bad. Let me know if any of this was of help. Stay well, Joe Z

    @@icemancometh8679 Be careful doing this. Disconnect the fuel line between the fuel pump to the carburetor. Put it into a container then crank the engine. If the fuel line & pump are good gas should pump into the container.
