The best test's zoom hx300. The best youtube. This test gives a sense of distance, with a focus on people, is how you do it in a simple way, with the image stabilized always going back and forth to the starting point of the focus / zoom. Just missed taking a photo while filming, to take away my doubt about the camera. Keep up the great work.

OK, but to use a tripod is better to appreciate the quality of the zoom. A remanence is visible in the movements of the camera, but little visible in the video itself.

I just bought this camera. its amazing so far and I don't know all the functions yet :D

Tomas rasta I can only get the digital zoom to switch off but the instructions seem to indicate that the optical zoom can be disengaged. If you get this to option to work please let me know

At a glance Canon sx400 has 30x zoom, 16.0 megapixel image quality, and 720p HD video priced at $149. While the Sony dsc-hx300 has 50x zoom, 20.4 megapixel image quality, and 1080p HD video priced at $279. I would say the canon one is good and cheaper but definitely not better than the Sony.

Hi Omogae Sefo. The newer Sony HX 400 you can use ext flash and ext microphone. I do not test flash lights cus result is how U use a inbuilt flash. There are a lot of tricks you can use to get nice results. Locations when to use and not to use is something every buyer most test the selfes. Any camera you buy you have to learn it benefits and limits. If you buy a canon sx50hs it is a matter of personal opinion. I got the sony cus of a good steady cam. But handle the sony with care. If it will be used to ruffor tuff U might get broblems with the inbuilt steady cam en get a disturbing flashing error info in the window. Sometimes it might hlep if resetting the camera. If not, U got a problem.. Google on YT if you get any problems and you might solve it if it occures Good luck

how about sx50hs ? which is good sharp and crysp?

Yes, much better. Only benefit a cell phone camera has is that it's small and already in your pocket.
