There was no good reason to crash there. The towpath was unusually good and wide. He could have easily avoided the branch which was only sticking out a few inches. However, two other cyclists did exactly the same thing that same day!

It is not a bike track for racing but a tow path designed for horses to plod on. Bikers as usual pushing it to the limit.

Guys do you have to be so terribly hateful? It's a guy cycling, ok bit fast but not bothering anyone bottom line. Getting sick of this anti hireboater, anti everything that isn't a narrowboat and using the canal system culture being promoted here. I think horses should be allowed on towpaths, not used as justification for getting cycling banned.

One would almost think you did this as a speed trap 😂. But nah, I could see someone coming the other way and sailing into your boat. Maybe an email to CRT is in order. Or you could post the collection of crash videos on KZread. The possibilities stagger the mind!!!

I went out this evening and cut the branch down. It was just a matter of time before someone broke an arm, leg, or neck! They do need to slow down though. At that speed they could easily run over one of the cats.

@@MiscellanyofMishaps Cats are smarter than this though; they evade cars all the time and we don't tell all cars to slow down. That said it would be good practise to slow down a little while passing a narrowboat much like a car does when passing a parked car (maybe a kid coming from behind it). Many thanks though for cutting that branch down! If everyone did that everything would be so much nicer (As well as not throwing glass bottles on the floor, littering & other pet peeves I have).

Why though? Good visibility here, no chance of passerby's coming out of the bushes, I don't see a problem with cycling at speed if you have a good overview of your surroundings. That said this guy's overestimated the distance from that sticking out bush.

I swear that was setup. The bush moves like someone pulled something to yank out the front tire. Watched it over and over. The wheel came out for no reason. Just saying that's what I think. Not saying you did it, looks like that though.

It's how the bush jerks without seemingly being touched by the kid. But I don't see string or anything. Ghosts, lol. Kid was dumbfounded. A wheel going in a true line tends to stay in the line.

It was real. I could hardly believe it myself. He was the third person to crash there that day. After the second crash I decided to set a camera up. After this crash I thought it best to cut the branch. There was no good reason for them hitting it, there was plenty of room.
