Thanks for this video. My pinpoint GPS just went out today. After two and a half years.

I agree with you guys,i spent all this fuckin money on mine.1,800 for there trolling motor.an they want 400 bucks for a p.o.s molded plastic.a dam joke.total fuc over with motorguide.thanks for info guys

I sure hope the latest and greatest part works.I just installed that same part on my motor that I purchased back in 2014.The so-called dongle update did diddly squat,and I had the erratic operation in anchor mode.The new part seems more robust and does not have the exposed wires at the GPS module.My GPS went dead when the unit twisted the cord and broke the wires at the base. I had 3 serial numbers,1 on motor base,one that was on shipping carton which I saved,and then the little sticker under head cover. The motor itself was good and took a beating in stride,but that crappy module construction.So in the end,it seemed worth it to upgrade and so far,so good. Also,you don't want to pull on the plastic loop that holds the lanyard,they are known to break.

Same problem here. About 4 years old and “Out of Warranty”. I called a designated service rep and he literally told me, “Motor Guide was a piece of crap”. I understand there needs to be a horizon on warranties but they should make parts available at a lower markup. Obviously they want to sell a new motor. If this doesn’t fix mine, I won’t purchase another MotorGuide.

@@BubbaBassAnglers ... so the $400 replacement GPS Replacement Module did not provide a long term fix? I haven’t ordered one yet. I just took it apart first to see if any loose connections. Unfortunately everything is good connection wise but the gps light still won’t come on. Please advise...

@@Doc.Holiday we got the new boat and the MG had issues with staying on point. Bub will come in and explain further. Even the MK broke a part which we had to fix shortly after using it.

@@Doc.Holiday the fix 100% worked, but the newer gps they created was far less accurate. It never “busted” again but no matter how many times we recalibrated the unit to specs, it continually darted way off course during route or direction following.

Xi5 customer support is HORRIBLE, absolutely the I've worst ever had to deal with. After a few months of problems, made a man-made reef out of my Xi5...

I replaced my pinpoint module after a year, and now I have ANOTHER problem. The unit will not turn in either direction - whether I use the remote or the foot pedal! Before I replace the control board, was wondering of you have any idea which wires in the unit control steering...

have the same problem. Are you pressing the anchor button after install?

Can you add Point-1 GPS (external GPS) and program fish finder in a way that lets Point -1 do functions of Pinpoint GPS . I did not know, just though someone might know.

I don't have the serial number on my Xi5 either. Is this GPS module a "standard" part? Meaning I don't need a special part based off my serial number?

@@BubbaBassAnglers I found the part online for $350 & swapped it out. It works in the driveway, we'll check it out on the water soon. Thanks again for the video guys!

You can use plasti-dip spray on that to make it more water proof
