I'm always surprised the mother doesn't decide to move into the heated box.

I still don't understand how critters tolerate insulation. My brain is itchy just thinking about it.

@Steven Young that's the thing though, yes they have thick fur and skin, but the eyes are big, front and center for Opossum and raccoon. Its irritating to think about. 😖
I had a racoon on my house roof. Before she had her litter, she was in the chimney making a nest. I used Boss Buck Shark Teeth strips on each of the downspouts so once she was down she couldn't get back up. Then after knowing she was off the roof, I had the chimney screened.
Please don’t stop posting! I love y’all videos🥰
Raccoons are good mommas. I once saw a family run after their daytime refuge was cut down in the daytime. They cry almost like human babies. Thanks for making the time and effort in reuniting momma and babies rather than euthanizing them. Raccoons do serve a purpose in the food chain.
I am learning here that animal parents are protective and want their babies. Many years ago as a child, I would constantly hear that animal moms would abandon their babies at the first hint of human presence or scent.

- 15:24 I like when you guys actually have the time on the screen so we can see how long it took her in between to take each baby. That gives an estimate of how far she went.
You work safe, well equipped and organized. Gloves, strong ladders. Safe baby boxes. 😊
You got balls going up there. I wouldn't go up there with a possibly pissed off raccoon 😅
Your videos are so awesome. You and your dad are great. Thanks for posting.
You and your staff are amazing.
If humans were as dedicated to their babies as wild mamas are there would be no such thing as child abuse. Yay! Wild mamas you are great🦝🦝🦝

What cuties! Bad water damage at 2:35 and not sure how I feel about all those new roof penetrations even with sealant 😬

Their job is to remove the animals and cover the holes to keep out the water, and prevent the animals from returning, not replacing the roof. That’s the owners responsibility to get a roofer up there to replace those bad shingles and make a more permanent repair.
I'm almost sure the mom already knows the Gates and is thinking: "Oh no, here we go again. I finally found a real nice place to grow up my babys and the Gates show up, remove my kids and I have to find something else to move in"
Love the raccoons and the girl 😍❤️🌹 She’s again here ☺️
How often do you all get bit, I love watching these videos, I'm sure it can be hard to work with a camera crew, since they go to such small areas. But I do really enjoy watching, almost wish I could do this too! Almost.

How many alternate dens do raccoons have in case one is compromised?
@michellehart6780
2 жыл бұрын
None. They basically kick them out in the street with no where to go, I’m guessing most babies don’t survive after this. All because some selfish human couldn’t tolerate their existence in a roof for a few weeks. These poor animals have no where left to go because humans have devoured their habitat and can even be gracious enough to share the roof of their home for a month
@christines2451

I believe they have explained this in me of their older videos that they always have one alternate den
@azu3417

@@michellehart6780 Unfortunately, in this scenario, open holes on the roofing would definitely contribute to water damage, that's not really an acceptable scenario.
You guys are a great company. I had to pay my mouse and rat mitigation company extra to go up on the roof and see if there were any holes up there.

Hello 👋 Cheryl, how are you doing?
She wanted someplace warm and dry for them. Maybe we could make little housing boxes for them to go into put there . You know? Like doghouses but off the ground.
It's sad that Wildlife has to Resort to living in our attics and sheds as there's no old holy rotten trees anymore because they cut them all down
Where are you located?! Far I bet,!
The daughter is definitely more rough with the animals than the dad.

Could just seem that way because she tries to work faster than dad.
I dunno. I'd have them inspect, but I'd feel guilty evicting them in so young, so I'd probably just tell them leave it til they are gone and then we will patch up the hole. Or I'd build them one of those boxes lol I love those.
That raccoon sure did a lot of damage to that roof. Mama raccoon is lucky the owner didn’t use a firearm or poison to evict the raccoon family. Raccoons are a food source for some humans.
Caulk under the washers.
You took her home, where do you expect her to take them to?????!!!!!
Where do they go after they get kicked out though? Have you ever relocated them to a forest?
Joyful Channel.
I think they should nickname you Ellie Mae Clampett.💕
I wonder if the insulation hurts the raccoons.
Is there someway to build shelters around so they don't enter into homes: it is sad they have to be moved - but it has to be done.
Can the animals keep the Gates T-shirt?
Does the mother ever try to make the release box her home?

As they explain in many of their early videos wildlife always prepare two dens when pregnant so this momma will be relocating her babies to her secondary den
👦🏽👍🏽
Please Make Videos On Rabbit,Cat Also
Im hanging in watching it- yall supposedly know what youre doing, but for the life of me, I cannot figure what you think she can DO suddenly, w/ 4 babies & No Home?? It just doesnt seem ideal. Especially in a fenced in area in the suburbs.I know she knows her surroundings, but it just seems so cut & dried & sad.Stuck- like so much wildlife here the building will not ever stop until its all taken up w/ houses (personal note, why Im moving, my Fla beach towns being over run w/ Northern Retirees, building their 3 story Dream homes, instead of buying OMG- a USED HOUSE! - They come & Destroy, what it was that made a place special. )
@christines2451

That is a valid question. However, they do explain in their earlier videos that they always have an alternate den. For various reasons. So when she comes to relocate her babies she is taking them to the secondary den. They are not just leaving them in the streets to figure out what to do lol. This is what they want people to know and become aware of because a lot of times people will take the babies to a rescue or something when all they had to do was leave them for mom to come back and care for them
Hello, leaky roof

What happens if she cannot find a suitable & safe nest ends up at neighbours house ? .. How often does that occur

If you watch their videos from the beginning they explain that they always prepare a secondary den for various reasons. Wildlife are prepared for these things.
Do you ever see where the mother takes the young.?
Baby racoons are super cute..
where will she move then too, someone else house ???
What are the odds she ll just live into that baby box with its heat and dryness and up safe form predation like that? She could leave them to find food... well until their eyes open and they roam...
Why not build something in your backyard so they can nest in there with moving them
The solution to this problem is to build a raccoon condo that will house all the mommy raccoon's during maternity.
You can easily mix out that ridiculous wind sound. That’s obvious
Cheap mushy stuff. A newborn could get through too.
the music you use isn’t the most pleasant
Why didn't you take the mom and babies far, far, away from a residential neighborhood? I had 16 raccoons in my barn, I took them 65 miles away.

Dumb laws in the area.
I would be livid if these animals we’re tearing up my property,they are obviously not having a problem with them being extinct so I’d say pp take care of the situation themselves and you can’t blame them.

There are a lot of raccoons because humans took their habitat and eliminated most of their natural enemies. Not the raccoon's fault.
Other than being professional criminals that specialize in breaking and entering raccoons do not seem to be overly aggressive in your videos.

All this humane treatment is very Canadian. But I'm an American and when I see a raccoon on my property I'm reminded this is why God gave us .22 rifles. Ever since I was seven years old I have wanted a coonskin hat (thank you, Fess Parker!), one with a tail in the back, paws 'n claws at each corner, and the head complete with whiskers and eyes at the front, a detail Walt Disney wisely omitted when he designed the costumes for Davy Crockett. I believe the taxidermist's fees would largely offset the Gates Wildlife charge and afterward I'd have the hat, a certain conversation starter at parties and job interviews.

Daniel Boone needed the hat for warmth in the wilderness, he didn't need it for frivolity.
