I was thinking the same thing. Only reason I can think of for it being 2nd degree is because the guidelines are a lot sticker and maybe the prosecutor was scared they would consider it a crime of passion instead of premeditated and take a chance of a not guilty. Definitely a monster tho, especially to do that in front of his kid.

The trouble is bigger than your dad. The trouble is that the heart of man is deceitful and desperately wicked. Jeremiah 17:9 asks "who can know it?" only God. Without repentance from sin and committing one's life to Jesus Christ, we are all terrible sinners. We offend God, vertically and horizontally, we offend our fellowmen. If you do not see the bigger picture, you begin blaming others just like Adam blaming Eve and Eve blaming the devil. We have to learn that we are all sinners. Romans 3:23 says "For ALL have sinned." It is only when we turn from sin to God and become Christians we can have the heart felt forgiveness and the removal of the bitterness from our lives. Blessings on you!

The boyfriend didn't kill her, her husband did. And after being beaten down for years it's no surprise she would think she needed another man. What is so strong is that she realized she was much better off alone at the time of her death. What should really be said is: men, treat your families right. Just because you had a messed up childhood it doesn't give you the right to treat your family like dirt. And if your wife wants to move on, that is her choice and she is allowed to do that.

These two girls have been scarred forever since that fateful night, as they witnessed and experienced their mother being butchered alive, as they felt helpless in trying to stop him. Those last few images of their mom are deeply ingrained in their psyche, and their brain. I cannot fathom having to live with something so horrific as what that _man_ ---- their _father_ ---- was capable of inflicting such pain and suffering and CARNAGE to the mother of his children and his children as well. IF he had ever possessed an iota of *humanity* in his life ---- he truly LOST it on that tragic night. I truly hope these young girls will somehow find peace one day, and have happy families of their own. As for *Cliff* ----- his punishment will be his *CONSCIENCE* --- every night and day, locked up in that cell. Nothing worse than a GUILTY CONSCIENCE. I hope Cliff FEELS it ---- every single day for as long as he lives. RIP Patricia. 🌹

Yeah, the text message and his face covering show that it was a premeditated murder. He didn't want witnesses. If you want to see your children why wear combat gear and a face mask? I also think his "emotional rollercoaster" is performative nonsense. He knows he hit her for years, she didn't "take everything from him". She was living in a rundown little apartment over a shop. So she didn't even get the house. He drove her away with his own behaviour and she gave him YEARS of chances to change. That victim act is enraging and pathetic.

This is something I guess I'll never understand. If you grew up in an abusive environment, man or woman, why would you do the same things you saw in your household? Shouldn't you want to do better, be better, than how you were raised? I can't see how a man or a woman would put their hands on someone in violence. Especially if they saw a parent, a family member go through that. Not to be naive because I've seen abuse, even had an abusive relationship for a couple of months. It's not always so easy to get out. Some don't even make it out. My heart breaks for this lady in this 1st story💔. And for her children, to witness this😢 It's so sad.

When you have grown up in an abusive and chaotic environment and home it becomes your norm, and you have not had the example of a healthy relationship with boundaries, respect and appropriate communication mirrored for you, so you don’t tend to have healthy relationships until you understand that you grew up in an abusive environment and how to value yourself. Trauma bonding through abuse is unfortunately all too real, which is why it is so hard for people being abused to leave because they have been hardwired since they were children that the abuse is ‘normal’.

What is frustrating and actually infuriating to me, is that women sometimes include men in their lives that jeopardize the health and welfare of their children. Come on lady, sure you may pick a bad one but once you have kids ,that's it, you are responsible to get them to adulthood without filling your needs for a man by your side, your needs are secondary to the welfare of your five kids that you chose to bring into this world.

Sad how the mom had a horrible cycle of men who abused her over and over again. Some women can’t be without a man. She put her children in danger with the men in her life. In the end her life was taken by one of the abusers. The father proved it wasn’t the mom why he was violent and abusive to women the daughter soon felt his abuse on her and learned it was her dads horrible rage for anyone in his path. My mom was married to an abusive man when she broke free she said NEVER again I will never put myself or my children in that horrible danger again.

Nowadays especially when there are children in the house one must be extremely careful who you date, for everyones safety. Having company and a romantic relationship with people who are violent is not worth the tragedy that comes in the end. Unfortunate Patricia seem very co dependent to men almost an addiction to bad men. Dating one after the other one knowing that these people aren't the most trustworthy individuals its madness. This is a ticking bomb! No one has to die the way Patricia did and our prayers are with her family. This is a cautionary tale that hopefully will help to illustrate the horrible outcome that may happen for dating untrustworthy people.

Almost always you can tell when there are red flags at the beginning of a relationship. I can’t stand it when someone says, “But I love him” or “Usually she’s so good to me”. That’s crap. Some choose to ignore the flags. If we don’t talk about the signs how will our young people stay safe? Will they go to a shelter then right back to the relationship? Will a young woman call the police for the fifth time on her boyfriend only to bail him out of jail. We need to make better choices on who we allow into our lives. You bet if I was in an abusive relationship and got out I’d be giving talks at schools on what actions should be avoided. Let kids grow up knowing no one should hurt them, isolate them from their families, keep track of everything they do. That is unacceptable. How do we teach our kids this?

When you are an adult and have children, you have to take adult responsibility. There are red flags when it comes to dangerous men - and women. Take these signals seriously, or at least ensure that the children have a safe upbringing if it is necessary to live with an 'exciting' bad boy.
