That one is totally different. They didn't enter for over an hour at Uvalde. There have already been multiple fired and there will no doubt be charges. The chief who was in charge if the scene, should definitely be the one charged!

Great insight. Local resident here, I don’t think people understand how large this school is. The real failure here was not having enough resource officers onsite on a regular basis. 3000+ students to 1 resource officer. The math ain’t mathing. Parkland community could afford more officers onsite.

I kept my son home today because of a group chat that he was involved in where 2 classmates said about bringing guns to school today! I was one of the parents who called in last night to address this but all the school did was issue a safety text out stating the police was contacted and they felt no threat would come of this ! I refuse to let my son be slightly put in this situation! The one boy is honestly the type who seems capable! Not only has been suspended repeatedly for bullying but his living situation at home is abusive and horrible! No child should have this fear

I can’t even imagine that level of anxiety! I’m a Brit but live in Australia. It’s just not something we had to worry about. Of course it was always a possibility a rogue kid could do something but it wasn’t a daily concern, and certainly very unlikely a gun would be involved, thank goodness. I couldn’t have coped 😫 We got out of England because of the knife crime that was starting to creep down near to where we lived, that was enough worry for me 😨

I don't know how this ever was a trial. Whether he was a Coward or not the system allows for them to be Cowards and not held liable. Don't know why this was ever a case. Also, in my personal opinion Cruz should have been put down. We know that they get too many privileges behind bars and he took so many lives and damaged the lives of so many people. We also know that he'd appeal it because he fears it so he would think about being on deaths door for about 10-15 yrs until they finally put him down. So I'm still very bitter about allowing a Monster like this to live the rest of his life when his victims never got a choice. The person to blame is not security or police. The only person to blame is Cruz himself. And I don't feel like the families really got justice.

I have a 6 year old daughter, whom I have full custody of! I thought I knew love before her, but I had no idea! She changed my life in every way, and gave me a never before thought of respect for women! With that being said; I get the parents grief and needing to blame someone, as "blame" is often a common part of the grieving, as well as healing process! It wasn't this mans fault though; and he definitely didn't deserve to go to prison. I will the subject saying this! Me personally, I would have went in anyway (only based of the fact that my brain would have told me that it's my little belly lady in one if those classrooms) as my life is more than a fair exchange for even an attempt to save her! May God welcome those beautiful souls into his kingdom, and may he keep his hands over us all!

I think the US needs to accept the systems that are put in place in developing nations. Doors/windows are exit only. Entrances have a double entry system so no one gets in without being in that neutral space. Actually US businesses could use them. I have seen it at the Washington airport. The 2A rights are overruling all other rights in the US. Look up the # of children killed, the number of IPV killings, the majority of veterans committing suicide. Care about any of those groups do something. This man did what he could, he was not trained well enough for this situation and when you have a job like this you are accountable for not only what you do but for what you do not do. The fact that schools needs armed resource officers should cause pause. Another common blurb is that veterans should be in schools, really, many veterans are not trained with weapons. We all want to be able to blame someone or put it off on mental health. There needs to be frequent radio, system checks and a way in each classroom to hit an emergency button. He likely did his best.

This attorney would be able to rationalize his client molesting children in a janitorial closet. He'd say "why are we scapegoating my client for his wife's failure to meet his sexual needs! Pity this poor man!" There is no bright line between abusing children and failing to protect them. The consequences are the same. Incompetence at this level is criminal negligence at best.

Right? That is the pathetic defense of morons ... just say the word Trump.... This guy is the stereotypical lawyer. His client is still a coward, not a victim. Pathetic, weak man who came up with enough excuses to justify his inaction. Was he guilty of neglect? Legally, no. Is he a coward, absolutely.

So you are saying we should just hire people for crucial jobs and not expect any kind of actual performance?? All professionals (myself included) are responsible for performing the jobs we hold. If you can't hack it, don't accept the pay for the job. People like you are why this country is falling apart. Always making excuses for the dregs of society and rationalizing failure. Pathetic.

This deputy is a coward who raised his family with people's money yet failed to deliver the job he's paid to do. This deputy should be ashamed of himself.
