Indiana resident here - Jill Behrman’s brother was my sixth grade homeroom teacher, and he had a photo of her on his desk. It had been over ten years since she had disappeared, and he teared up every time he spoke about her. Even a class full of rowdy middle schoolers went silent and solemn. Such a heartbreaking story, as well as Lauren. I never even considered going to Bloomington for college, and it seems I still won’t. Rest easy, girls. ❤ You’re missed dearly, and are not forgotten.

To anyone that has a problem with what Hannah's mom said, just be thankful that you don't know that level of pain and grief that would have her asking a question like that. She even said it's selfish and she completely broke down even saying it. Grief makes you think, say and do things that you otherwise would never even think about. You realize how awful those thoughts are and you hate that they even pop into your head. I can't even allow myself to imagine the pain of having my child taken from me at all, let alone at the hands of someone else. I am so sorry that she has to actually live with that as a reality. I can't be upset with a mother who wishes it wasn't her child.

Don’t get drunk at all

As someone who survived molestation and attempted rape as a preteen/teen, I do not blame her for wanting her father dead. The fact that her family didn't believe her is disgusting but not uncommon. My own mother didn't believe me that my stepfather was molesting me from the age of 12 up until I was 14 and then attempted to rape me a month before I turned 15.

Alcohol and having too much to drink have put *MANY* women of all ages into situations involving sexual assault and/or murders - don't drink too much when you go out partying so you can be more aware of your surroundings and that "sixth sense" intuition of a situation or person being risky remains intact. And unfortunately a woman, regardless of age, walking alone at night, even if it is just 7PM but especially in the late-night hours, is also especially risky, even if she is walking within a college campus or the parking lot of her own apartment. Most parents now know how to teach their young children not to trust strangers, but that same teaching should be continued especially for women for their entire life. Yes, it's sad to say this, but strangers approaching women in public places in order to rape or kill them has been going on for many centuries long before Ted Bundy made it more famous. You do not have to treat every strange man as a potential murderer, but you also cannot be too trusting of any male stranger that approaches a woman or hands a woman a drink that could be potentially drugged. And just as people no longer stand by the side of a road and hitchhike like people often did in the 1950s through the 1970s, any woman working as an escort/prostitute or takes up an offer by a stranger to do a modeling photography session also eventually may regret their decision. Crimes involving husbands/boyfriends killing their partners are harder to prevent, but women drinking a lot of alcohol and either being alone, separating from their friends to mingle with strangers, or separating from friends to be alone do end up being the targets of predatory males unfortunately. Note that I am *NOT* victim-blaming or victim-shaming, but your "how this crap can be prevented" does point a big ugly finger at drinking too much, trusting too many strangers, and a huge dose of common sense (e.g. don't walk alone at night if you are a woman of any age). Men also get into lots of trouble by drinking heavily, but women have far more risks once they become drunk.

You are 1000% victim blaming. They asked how to prevent this crime from happening and you gave advice as to how to prevent it from happening them. At the end of the day, "let another girl be the victim instead" is not a solution. It should be noted that only 12% of female victim homicides are committed by a stranger. A women is safer drinking at a bar then she is arguing with with a partner at home. 15% of women killed by an intimate partner are pregnant. They are very likely not getting drunk at the bar around the time that are killed. It should also be noted that in a stranger assault, it's the male perpetrator's alcohol consumption that increases the likelihood of violence against women, not the female victim's. A woman's alcohol consumption is a predictor of violence in intimate and acquaintance assaults. Preventing violent attacks on women means preventing men from commiting them entirely, not just making them choose a different victim.

The fact remains that men commit the vast majority of violence, both against other men and there is, has been, and will always be far more men-against-women violence than women-against-men-or-women violence. This will always be true on all continents (unlike mass shootings which are nearly always American), and not just for humans, but in many species of the entire animal kingdom (except for preying mantis and some spider species where the female kills the male), the male often commits various predatory actions against the female (e.g. with many big cats in Africa, the male may resort to extreme violence if the female resists mating attempts). Testosterone encourages the brain to act with aggression or violence while serotonin and cortisol counteract testosterone's aggression promoter in humans and all animals. Your last sentence of "Preventing violent attacks on women means preventing men from commiting them entirely, not just making them choose a different victim." is *HUGELY* an idealistic vision of a perfect world. Testosterone does ingrain aggressive behaviors in male humans and all male mammals. So to prevent men from predatory acts against women *entirely* may require emasculating *ALL* men at birth across multiple generations along with weekly doses of serotonin given to all men. And no IPV can happen in the presence of boys since a boy who sees his mother being abused by a husband or boyfriend is more than 10 times likely to commit IPV or violence against women themselves. We are far more likely to prevent mass shootings in the U.S. than trying to prevent men from sexually assaulting or killing women (either IPV or stranger violence). And I don't see the mass shooting problem being fixed in our lifetimes, so violence against women will also not be "entirely prevented" in this millennium. We can all idealize on how rigorous mental health monitoring of everyone will stop mass shootings in the U.S. and violence against women around the world, and how if everyone is taught proper morals and ethics as a child, no crimes will ever happen. And we can idealize that if every man and woman arms themselves with a concealed pistol, that would stop all mass shootings and violence against women. But the ugly reality is that it is nearly impossible to prevent criminals from committing crimes, *WITHOUT* getting into the gun control debate in the U.S., so society's only hope is to find ways to avoid being a victim. That is not victim blaming, but that is reality. In utopia, women have equal rights and equal safety as men, and men never have evil thoughts, but we will *NEVER* approach a utopian society. In fact, we are deviating farther and farther away from utopian ideals.

I live in Bolingbrook and he was in the local bar when I went in one night and talking about how he was well known now. Laughing about it. I looked at him at just said. "Why aren't you looking for Stacy? Because you know she is gone and you sit here celebrating how this has made you famous? I refuse to stay here with him." I turned and walked out. I've been fighting with Town council where I live about street lights. I'm a runner and I've had to cut my running back because I can't do it. It's way too dark. I live in a very rural area but the population is growing so rapidly that if you don't do something about simple things like street lights then crime comes and pushes out all the good people. I've seen it happen so many times. Sometimes people don't realize how important street lights are until it's too late. I was told to talk to every town council member and I have. All they tell me is that they have plans to get better street lights. It's very serious. We are paying taxes and trusting our cities and towns to use the money to protect us above all else. We can worry about the cosmetic things after we have a safe place to live. To the mother, don't listen to these haters. As a mother I understand why you're saying what you're saying. You're just being figurative and you even said that you know it's selfish so it's not like you're a heartless person. I would suspect that as soon as she got into her house she may be dropped her cell phone or bag oomething and turned around to grab it. I don't know but it could be. Haha! Dude left his phone! I bet he was obsessed wondering where that fell and he couldn't go back to look for it. Bravo to the police officers that did their job and stayed on it from the very beginning. I watch a lot of true crime and there are multiple cases for the police officers didn't even try. Evidence was right in front of their face like a cell phone and they didn't even try. I think those pictures are not real but rather a dramatization of the scene.

If drew was out despise all these suspicious events, he would have fallen into another woman's loving arms. Some people cant be helped no matter how black and white the situations are.

Messel does seem like a good person to investigate for open cases of this type. Cold case you're up!!!

No, no, no,no…….I will never understand why these young woman always go home alone, be it in a cab or Uber or walking. We must teach them, being anywhere alone at night is a BIG NO, NO ! It happens everywhere, your area is no different to any other area where these crimes take place. This taxi driver was given money to take her home ~~ not a block or two away from her home, but to her home ! He should be answerable to someone. However her friends who thought they were doing the right thing, should have gone home with her or she should have stayed at someone’s home with them. It doesn’t matter if you ‘have work’ the next morning or another appointment, so,you are late or you can’t make it ~~ nothing is too important that you are alone at night. It just shouldn’t happen. We have all been inconvenienced by kids that need a lift home in the wee hours of the morning, it’s just something we do, as parents or friends. Ladies, we have to be more diligent in an effort to stay safe. No one can be trusted, it’s a simple as that ! My condolences to Hannah’s family and friends. xoxox

sometimes we have have no choice unfortunately, we don't want to risk a taxi or we have no one to take us home if we have a car. i hate walking alone but what I do now i have a personal safety app called hollyapp it alerts close friends where i am and if I am man down or have an incident. they can call police too. i also wear a bodycam but it is amazing how no women ask about the bodycam but men do, women would rather be fashionable and not use a bodycam but i dont care about female fashion which is anti female safety but i will wear it.

Solidarity isn’t so solidarities among other “individuals” is it? That’s why we are allllll individuals

I think Drew is responsible for both wives deaths, but im surprised that Drew didnt say that the hit on the states attorney is because of temporary insanity due to being falsely incarcerated.

The first story of this episode, I think it was in really bad taste to have her mother in here. To put her through what obviously is traumatizing her greatly. They should have had another relative on. Mom needs a bubble bath, rest and a lot of family and friends around her.

She was on there because she wanted to. No one twisted her arm or pulled a gun to her head to do it. Evidently you don't know how this stuff works for shows. She could have declined on anything.

Out of all the things that people are commenting, the thing that bothers me the most is that they keep showing this poor girls body over and over and over again. Also, NEVER let your friend go home alone. ESPECIALLY if they've been drinking or are vulnerable in anyway. Male or female, LOOK OUT FOR EACHOTHER. My friend was going to take a Lyft home tonight and she had been drinking and was obviously tipsy. My fiance and I brought her home. And I personally helped her down the steps at the bar and up the steps and into her house. I would never have wanted her to go home alone in a Lyft in that condition.

The olsest son is just like his father, a criminal. He should be locked up as well for hiding evidence.

This got me flashbacks of watching a documentary about Chi Omega Sorority house murders (Ted Bundy)

He was allowed to go this from the failure of the Police. There cannot be that many women coming forward without at least of them having reported this man already.

I see alot of ppl in the comment talk about how she wished it was anyones daughter but hers...i feel that...when you are going through the stages of grief some times you say be saying stuff make yourself feel better. I relate to this as an orphan...i see ppl who have families but dont care for them...alot of ppl tke the simplist things from granted but those are the things that make you love someone and nothing cant replace that hole in your heart.

Oh he was unbelievable it’s just pathetic how many women had to die at the hands of this monster 👿

I wonder if these young girls watch shows like this and see how many of their peers are killed because they were pis*ing drunk late at night in town. I am absolutely not blaming the victim, but they are putting themselves in very risky situations. I feel terrible for her mom.

The insane part is that phone that landed below hannahs feet/shoes ! She wanted her killer caught !😢 very devastating this is tragic and NO one deserves this at all 😢😢 RIP HANNAH

It’s not selfish to wish someone else, some stranger, was in your loved ones place! I can’t imagine your pain and how often, how deeply you wish things to be different.

SO MANY tragedies and heartbreaks could be avoided if we just had agressive capitol punishment and life imprisonment!😮😮😮😮

And this is one of my worst fears. I have a 16yr old daughter planning for college and I'm terrified of all the danger, predators, things that can go horribly wrong on campus or off campus. The amount of crimes that colleges cover up scares me. I let my kids watch these shows so they are aware of what happens in this ugly world. So sorry for the victims and families.

Why didn’t you take someone’s else’s daughter ? People please be careful of this type of thinking this is critical mistake that we make as humans and it leads to Devastation !!!

I took it to mean she was hoping her daughter was still alive and it was someone who kind of looked like her daughter. While it would mean tragedy for another family, it would give her hope of her daughter coming home one day.

Absolutely, people should not try to push their grief and loss onto others. I understand that they wish it didn't happen to their lives one. However, the wording was inappropriate. Saying that you wish it was someone else's loved one will come back to bite them on the ass. You can't put that out there if you believe in karma. I do feel sad for them. I personally would not wish that kind of loss on anyone!! 💔

The woman was grieving, so I can understand her statement. No one wants to have a murdered or missing family member. Sometimes you say things you don't mean. I wouldn't want anyone in my family murdered/killed/missing like this. Sometimes you say things you don't mean your words in this type of situation.

Some do it think it's better than letting them drive or walk home. That has been grilled into a lot of people if you drink, don't drive. Call a cab instead. Growing up in the 80s and 90s , that's all you heard from people and ads. Especially for news eve.

When I hear Drew P screaming at the top of his lungs that he "didn't kill Cathleen", it shows what his wives had to live with. Kinda makes the hair stand up on the back of the neck.

Using the term "co-ed" is so antiquated and backward. Why do Americans (and they are the only ones who use that term) still do it?

“Coed” (short for “coeducational”) is a system of education where males and females are educated together. A lot of universities in America were established for an all male student body or an all female student body. Use of the term “coed” often means the university in question use to only admit one sex but eventually opened its doors to everyone.
