Greetings from Scotland! This is 14yo Diana singing in an amazing Russian project "You are Super" for abandoned/disadvantaged children because Diana spent some years in an orphanage when she was 3yo. She is a natural dramatic contralto (so VERY low) which is rare in females but exceptionally rare in someone so young! Diana was born way over in the far eastern side of Russian in Arsenyev, 160 km northeast of Vladivostok. Her adoptive family moved to Togliatti, in western Russia near the Volga River then after Igor Krutoy (a famous composer/producer) gifted Diana an apartment in Moscow she moved there and still lives there! It makes it easier for her to study at GITIS International, the largest and oldest theatrical State Institution in Russia. Go take a look at her youtube channel - "Diana Ankudinova Official" She is now 17yo (18yo on 31st May) and she sings in 6 languages, Russian, English, French, Spanish, German and Arabic and she's only 17!!! As you view more of her performances, covers and originals, you will see this is the tip of a giant iceberg! These are the words Diana sang translated Russisn to English:- "You are a river. My dear river. You flow and do not splash." "Oh yes you are a child, my little child - why are you sitting and not smiling" "Our yard is full of horses and the living room is full of guests" "Oh, my friends, my darlings, oh yes, I have nothing to rejoice at and nothing to smile about." "I have no father or mother, no one to bless me ..." "You are a river. My dear river. You flow and do not splash." This is the much compressed story she tells:- "A young orphan girl is being given away in marriage to the unloved. She goes to the river (a portal between the living and dead) to ask her dead mothers’ blessings for a marriage that will not be a happy one. The spooky voice is her dead mum answering back! The mood of the song changes and we hear her young girlfriends in the yard playing and laughing, asking why the girl is so sad? Then she cries uncontrollably. She is lifted into the boat to be taken to her wedding with resignation for a sad life."

Thanks for the reaction,but misunderstanding of the meaning of the song! This is an old wedding ritual song, it's like a puzzle, it consists of phrases taken from ritual songs. Where it is sung in a whisper is like the words of a deceased mother, because in Russia since ancient times it was believed that the river is the border between the world of the living and the dead, as in the mythology of others countries. So the girl-orphan came to the river to tell the mother that she was being given away for the unloved, to a strange family, ask for blessings and cry.
