This song is a compilation of lines from ancient Russian folk songs. They are well over 2000 years old. The song is about an orphan girl who is being married off, obviously to an unloved person. She comes to the banks of the river (the river was considered the border between the world of the living and the world of the dead) to ask for a wedding blessing from her deceased mother. The scary voice is the response of the mother's spirit. The dancers in the background represent the spirits of the forest and the river. Not having received the blessing of her mother, the girl crosses the border between the world of the living and the world of the dead when she gets into a boat and floats away.

Two things - if like cannot be unique. Secondly, I would dispute the comparison with Cher: I was nought but a young lad at the time of I got you Babe - Cher has a deep voice but none of the resonance, timbre, emotion or, at this age, ability. That Cher had to resort to autotune tells you a lot. Not alike, superior.

@@rickr2029 Nope - the autotune for Cher actually screwed up a fair to middling song or so I believe- I much prefer her earlier stuff, Bang, Bang, Little Man, Gypsie, Tramps etc. My favourite - cover of the great Dylan song "All I really want to do". Didn't have to look her up as she and Sonny Bono informed this callow youth (at the time) of a wider world. I contend that her voice could not come near to that of Diana - husky or not it never had the qualities or technique that this young lady possesses.
