It's fair to assume seasons 1-3 were the most iconic times for SpongeBob. Shanghaied is one of my favorites, particularly for its multiple ending scenarios and the perfume department segment.

The first 3 seasons were unbeatable, especially since the mid to late 2000s were kind of a wasteland when it came to animated kids shows and the writers strike killed alot of TV shows. The movie was great but then after that the episodes became alot more bland and one dimensional until the 6th season which became a death knell for the series. It's made a slight recovery but other then the movies there havent been many iconic episodes since season 4, arguably the first 3 season had 90% of the best episodes.

I just watched that one. I completely lost my shit at SpongeBob's ending.

The ending with "Sweet Victory" is just so awesome and for me the ending of the show, even when it isn't. Just because Squidward succeeded. It is so awesome to see him beeing Happy at the end of an episode.

Spongebob was actually a very deep cartoon where his character symbolized childhood innocence and squidward symbolized adulthood. Their relationship always involved spongebob trying to do things to make squidward happy and every now and then squidward gets a taste of what it’s like to be joyful like a child. Something most adults forgot what was like due to our preoccupations with everyday life. The newer seasons flushed out all depth and simply turned their relationship into a “squidward babysitting spongebob” dynamic. Seems like the writers only want to focus on the kid audience and not the adult audience too. It’s a shame because I feel like that’s the pattern in many modern day cartoons nowadays. I look at a lot of stuff kids watch nowadays and it’s all bright colors and wackiness. No real depth or message behind it.

Oh my goodness thank you! Finally! I always* lament about this but everyone else says that they think the change is a good thing! Like what?! How?! They have all said that shows, especially kid ones but really any show, shouldn’t be so heavy and full of lessons and teaching etc. They get enough of that at school etc. Shows should be fun and a time to chill and not be nagged. Etc. These are ALL their words and feelings definitely NOT mine*. I just don’t understand it. Our old shows were still fun and obviously memorable by all the KZread videos about them like yours and all of the OG shows and movies being remade, gross 🤮 But proof that they are still* loved shows even if you learn something from it. We had shows about diversity and treating each other nicely no matter what etc. which has sparked the BLM movement and the #metoo movement and just so much more, now that we have all grown up into adults with the power to make this world better. It’s sad that everything now is bright colorful meaningless quick. Attention spans are getting shorter. The younger someone is the better they understand how to use technology. Which is a new concept. It’s always been the other way around, as it should be. That’s how life works, learning from those who have come before us and learning from their mistakes etc. Only now technology and everything is just moving so fast that it’s hard to keep up. By the time you learn a new thing, whatever it is, the world already improved on that new thing and now everyone is supposed to do something else. I feel like this is the only part I’m not explaining well and I hate that but I feel like you guys know what I mean. Lol. Sorry for the long reply. Just hits a nerve. I think media is taking a sad new meaningless turn and I really wish it wasn’t but it’s been going on for years now. It used to be that adults could somewhat enjoy kid shows too when they had to sit through them for their children, it wasn’t all bad for them they laughed and enjoyed it too. I remember my dad loving all my shows as much as I did and hanging out with me to watch my shows after dinner before bed etc. because this was back when kids spent all day outside and with friends etc sigh miss those days lol. Anyway. I really love that. We got to spend time together just us. Laughing at the same things. Me getting to show him something and him actually loving it too etc as a child that was huge to me. Being able to show my dad something new etc made me feel grown and proud etc lol and it meant SO MUCH that he loved it too♥️ I’ve ALWAYS been a daddy’s girl too lol but still ♥️ It was a good boost as a kid. Something I looked forward to. Special time each day for just me and my dad. Huge as a kid. Etc. But now even I can’t sit through that shit because almost all of the kid shows now ESPECIALLY the cartoons, just look like a big old random ass acid trip! They ruined all of the classic cartoons with their new twerking versions and it’s just gross. For example especially with The Powerpuff Girls & Teen Titans! Those two are the WORST ONES! For remakes at least! I mean HELLO! The girls are supposed to be 5 year olds omfg they act like teenagers now! It’s gross and weird and doesn’t make sense! Same with the Teen Titans. They obviously aren’t 5 but they were always serious heroes, and now they aren’t even heroes!!! They are so NOT SERIOUS now* that they basically aren’t even heroes almost ever in their own show! It’s usually just them being silly and stupid. Etc. Like wtf? Not only were they serious to begin with but they really made them SO SILLY that they CAN’T even be heroes anymore! What is that?!

Very well stated. I love watching SB with my 10 yr old nephew but I am the only one in the entire extended family that enjoys watching it with him and talking about the characters and situations and meanings. Really disappoints me that I am the only one, and I can tell that the boy appreciates me for it and he is also sad that no other adult wants to watch SB with him.

The Nosferatu thing is my favorite of all, so unexpected and funny. I was really into vampires when i watched that episode for the first time, so for me it was epic. Definitely iconic ♡

Spongebob literally molded a certain type of comedy style for children born in the 90s. The sarcasm of squidward, stupidity of Patrick, that loud ass voice on Plankton. It was literally hilarious for like the first 4 seasons. Also I feel like on the tail end of rugrats spongebob caught us as we were hitting that 8 year old phase

I personally agree, until Seasons 5-12 became rubbish due to the shows style becoming a more “generic cartoon”

The episode with the magic conge shell kills me. Also the imagination box episode. Both of them still makes me laugh to this day

I can still remember waiting for the band episode to be repeated. I probably missed it a dozen times before I managed to record it on VHS just to watch the concert scene over and over again. In the past, people were so much more happy to see a certain episode on TV, but today this feeling is unfortunately lost due to the constant availability. : / But that's the way things are, but platforms like KZread also have their good sides, like this channel, for example. ;) Great video I love this format, I'm looking forward to other series from the 90s, keep it up Bro.

I have always thought the "dying animal on the premises" was so out of place that until you brought two and two together with that perfectly edited scene, I would have thought Squidward was just like "Dying animal? not my responsibility," LOL how did THAT fly over my head for 20 years? HOW?

Karate Island is one of my favorite episodes. I like how San has to get through each floor with a different opponent each time. It is very entertaining.

It feels like a video game boss battle in that episode

I worked in a nursing home for 5 years and there was the meanest old lady you'd ever meet living there at the time. She always asked me "who are you?" Every time she saw me. One day, I told her my name is Smity. She ask "Smith who?" And I told her "werbenyeagermanjenson". She didn't believe me of course, but a coworker played along and confirmed it. She cracked the biggest smile and called me Smity till the day she passed. I will never forget that.

My partner and I have been showing our 5 year old spongebob and he’s constantly trying to go back to season 1-4. I’m like let him make his decision about what he likes! We started letting him watch your channel too and he loves it :)

I remember how big of a deal the SpongebBob Premiere was for me. It was summer vacation and 2 days after my birthday but me and a couple of my best friends were celebrating it that Saturday night. We all loved the preview after the Nick choice awards so we all looked forward to the first episode that night and even watched all the times it reran that night and the next day lol. It was a great and very memorable 9th birthday and my last in Texas with those friends before moving to Arizona the next year. Great memories

As a Marching Band student, I can honestly just say that unsurprisingly, Band Geeks is my favorite. It’s because of the experience of an actual marching band show. Memorizing music, choreography, visuals, etc. Then, as soon as you get onto that bus, and at the destination, there is no turning back and you’re nervous but excited. You march onto the field, and play that final note as loud as possible, and you sense that pride, the sense of, “I did this, this hard work paid off.” Though I’m in a competitive marching band, this is clearly a scatter show band, and you still feel that sense. Last year, during our finals championship, my band director, at the final impact, raised his hands in the air, and that’s what stood out to me. (And also I jumped in the air at that moment too cause I got a little too hyped.) All I’m saying is, after a show, you just feel that hype, pride, and satisfaction.

I was always an athlete when I was younger and I never appreciated the skill and effort that a marching band requires. The Ohio State University band has some amazing vids on youtube, including one with a SpongeBob theme!

My all time favorite episode is the Season 3 episode “The Krusty Krab Training Video.” It is unlike anything they had done with this show before and rarely if at all since. It was amazing to see an actual training video. The twist at the end made people loose their minds when it originally aired. It also has some pretty iconic likes such as “hoopla” “P.O.O.P” and “The ceiling’s right Sqidward. You’re not a very good employee.” I could watch that episode every day. I also love the other season 3 episode “Club SpongeBob” where Squidward sees SpongeBob and Patrick in a hut of some kind and ask what they are doing. They say they have a secret club and he can’t join cause he won’t fit in literally not metaphorically. Long story short he gets stuck with them in this hut and while he is trying to escape flings all three of them into a kelp forest in the middle of nowhere and they can’t seem to escape. I love the magic conch and how this is one big giant Squid torture episode particularly when it comes to the food that eventually finds them.

Pizza delivery, graveyard shift, and band geeks are easily my favorite episodes of Spongebob Squarepants. Good job!

Highlighting The Graveyard Shift, but not mentioning the "and the walls will ooze green slime! Oh wait, they always do that" joke was a crime.

Spongebob Season 1-3 and the first movie truly is peak tv history. There is nothing more you have to see from spongebob. It did not get any better. Hillenburg created one of the best animated tv series because he made a show which is watchable for kids AND parents. Yes, it it a kids show but it has depth and colors, light and shadows. The show is about problems and challenges of the world and pictures many problems of our world like greed, pollution, human trauma, anxiety, loss, rejection, exclusion, fear. But it also pictures all the joy of life as well in form of our beloved Spongebob and his naive and his never ending optimistic view of the world. Every main character in the show is written so good. Spongebob has a heart for everything and everyone. In his core he is a child. When children watch the show they identify with them. He is polite, diligent, loyal and just wants to have fun all the day. Patrick is our best friend, the one we always can count on. He is not the smartest, he is lazy and maybe a bit obese, but he has a big heart. He loves his friend spongebob by all means. Sandy is the overachiever. She is the anthropomorphic connection to our world. We can identify with her, even though she is a squirrel. She is smart, sportive and eager. You can have fun with her but she has her borders and can be serious. I think Sandy is like our old sister. Squidward is the adult, he is us today. He challenges all the problems of the world and just tries to cope with it. He hates his job but cannot quit it because he is lost in the system, which is represented by the greedy Mr. Crabs. Money is all what counts in our capitalistic world. Get something to be someone. Even though, there is no clear good, they have all weaknesses and lows. Mr. Crabs has its daughter that he truly loves by his heart. There seems to be no mother, so I guess he is divorced or the mother passed away. In one way or another, Mr. Crabs just want the love of his daughter which is not easy because she is getting older and more independent. Even planctons effort to get the recipe only is his way to get social acceptance and recognition which of course he does not get because of his size. It made him lonely, depressed, bitter and depressive wich leads then to anger and hate about all inhabitants of Bikini bottom. The first three seasons have great sense of humour. Even today I laugh my ass off when seeing Band Geeks, Pizza Delivery or Rock Bottom. The mood and the design of the show is so unique. There is no other tv show I admire more after getting an adult. Overall, we cannnot thank Stephen Hillenburg enough for his creation. I was so sad when he passed away and he is greatly missed. But the first three seasons and the first movie will be his masterpiece from now on and forever. Sorry for my english, it is not my mother tongue.

20:22 Fun Fact: Even though we got hard baited at the Super Bowl with the intro to Sweet Victory being played and then ultimately never was, Sweet Victory, however, WAS played at another American sporting venue literally a DAY after the 2019 Super Bowl. It was played at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas, following the Dallas Star’s 3-1 victory over the Minnesota Wild, both teams in which are a part of the NHL, or National Hockey League. And I think it’s safe to say that many people got some sort of feeling of justice, even though the NFL still hasn’t played it at the halftime show for the Super Bowl to this day. TLDR: NHL team played Sweet Victory following a 3-1 win at home a day after the Super Bowl disappointed everyone

OOF I remember watching Rock Bottom for the first time ever as a child, it was so bizarre because here Nickelodeon almost never had that episode on air, so I knew every episode from the first 3 season except that one, so when they showed it between some 2-3 season episodes, it was so weird because of the plot and concept (and the animations) it legit scared me out.

Season 1-3 are definitely the golden age of Spongebob. Its so difficult just choosing which episode is the best from Season 1-3, since most of S1 through 3 all are bangers. Just listing any S1-3 episodes is a challenge since most of the season episodes are just straight up memorable. Im still iffy on my list 10-6 chooses since I wanted to include Graveyard Shift and Rock Bottom too, but for top 5, I just gotta include all five of them mostly for the lessons, moments, songs, and comedy that hits hard for me when I was a kid. I can't wait to see ur part 2 of iconic Spongebo episode👍🔥🔥🔥

Seasons 1, 2, and 3 each individually had more good episodes then seasons 4-13 combined.

Can acknowledged both scenes that include "Oh my gosh, a floating shopping list" and "Even the soil is differet...would you mind putting me down"

For the longest Ripped Pants was my favorite episode. In 5th grade, my friend and I would argue which song was better, Ripped Pants or Sweet Victory. Oh the memories.

Man something I still can’t get over when it comes to the older seasons is how iconic they really can be. I’m still so glad I was able to get the first 3 seasons of Spongebob on DvD especially since after they took of midlife crustacean from paramount+ and prime vid. So I can watch this show whenever I want

I think the 5 most iconic are Band Geeks (simply well-written) Suction Cup Symphony (One of Squidward's Biggest victories) Sand Castles in the Sand (One of the few bright spots of Seasons 6-8) Sailor Mouth (Extremely funny) Bubble Stand (Started it all)

I no joke still* have my old SpongeBob comforter, I bought myself as a kid at a garage sale which I was very proud of lol, and it lives on my living room couch! Use it every day! Lol 😂♥️

For me, Wormy. When SpongeBob and Patrick are tasked with taking care of Sandy's Caterpillar, having no idea how they transform into Butterflies. Believing it's a monster, SpongeBob and the rest of Bikini Bottom wrecks the entire town in mass panic, resulting in one of the most HILARIOUS endings ever, and by far one of my favorite SpongeBob episodes. 🤣

😂😂 I was 14 when this premiered but it was my absolutely most favorite. I loved the episode where he kept asking squidward if he was finished with those errands.

One of my favorite jokes from SpongeBob is when Patrick and SpongeBob were wrestling/fighting in the ring and one of the moves SpongeBob did was he erased the “Pat” off of Patrick’s name badge for a fighting move, then Patrick screams to the top of his lungs “My name, is not Riiickkkk!” 😂😂😂shit got me rolling now to recap that episode whatever season that was in. Another one was when they were tracking the criminal down together and they were like “what do you wanna do now, hmmm let’s get some ice cream” they did that like 3 times in a row, then Patrick’s like “Idk were really close to finding out who took the whales pearl, I can almost taaaaste it” as he licks the ice cream cone that looks like the side of SpongeBob’s face until it zooms out it’s an ice cream that looks like a Yellow sponge😂😂😂 man the writers from back then were great😭😭😭

For me the most iconic episode ever is the MAGIC CONCH SHELL. That ending with squidward thinking he was saved ,only for the ranger to turn out to be a fellow club member, followed by that “LOLOLOLOLO” 😂

Fun note by the way, no matter when Spongebob gets canceled, the first original movie is the canon ending of Spongebob.

I was 8 when SpongeBob premiered. I remember the promo for it when other cartoons would be on. I remember seeing spongebob in the bottom corner of the screen days before it came out. Tea at the treedome, pizza delivery,and rock bottom was my favorite episodes from season one.

Some of my all time favorites are the one with the weenie hut Jr, ripped my pants, and the one with sqilliam and Squidward trying to make the crusty Krabs like a five star restaurant and accidentally wiped SpongeBob's brain 😂

In my opinion Wet Painters has got to be the most chaotic and hilarious episode of SpongeBob I've ever seen.

The premiere was legendary. What a summer. I think I was 9

SB 2000 was the episode I waited for and hoped would play on Nickelodeon when I was a kid.

It’s crazy to think I was 2 when this show came on so really SpongeBob has been more apart of my life then not in my life I’m 26 and I still watch the older seasons 1-3 and movie were golden ages of the show

Season 1 was magic I watched those episodes on the DVD over and over and over on my ps2. Rock Bottom still is in my top 10 favorite episodes of a kids show ever, Graveyard shift was also on the DVD and is also in my top 10 episodes.....at night. Omg and band geeks, how many times will I have to edit this comment? Last edit the video is over lol. The DVD I had was called Nautical Nonsense and Sponge Buddies. It was the very first SpongeBob DVD ever released and had 5 episodes from season 1, 4 from season 2 and 1 from season 3. Forgot we didn't get full seasons of shows released on home video yet in 2002. Everyone was just converting over from VHS.

Kristy towers is an iconic one. It’s one of my faves. I also loved wormy & graveyard shift.

Lost Episode special is kinda forgettable, and its from season 3! I think it was supposed to be the last episode of the series before the movie but they said, let's make 1 more. The Stranger ep and Pranks a Lot is a good ass finale

Glad to see someone elseention that episode it was a gem Edit: I know you said it's forgettable but I still think it's a diamond in the rough most people forget because I don't remember them ever playing it again

also Squidville, Help Wanted, Ripped Pants, the one with Gary Come Home in it, I don't remember what the actual episode's called, Chocolate With Nuts, Artist Unknown, there's a lot of very iconic episodes of this show

Next one should be when spongebob lost his identity,when spongebob met sandy, ripped pants , and the tattletale strangler , oh and when misses puff stole his boat and Krabby land

The episode where Squidward goes to the future & past is one of the most memorable episodes that and the caveman episode and conch shell episode are the main three what stick out most to me.

My junior year at homecoming they played Sweet Victory! It was amazing

5:37 to be fair, Mr. Krabs hung up on the guy mid sentence. You can hear it, the guy was still talking. He was probably pissed at that, combined with the long delivery time, he exploded on the wrong person.

The training episode will always be my favorite 😌

For me the episode where SpongeBob and Patrick get stuck in Sandy’s dome during winter is iconic

Can't argue with this list, Pizza Delivery is forever my favorite. I'd personally throw in Bubble Stand, Chocolate with Nuts and Jellyfishing in the mix.

Season 1-3 is basically the most iconic seasons due to having the majority of the memes in that series
